𝒙𝒗𝒊𝒊. Don't flatter me
❛ I don't regret anything that happened. ❜
After a couple shots of tequila, Mona was sitting on the couch in the living room and admiring Moon from afar.
She and Hawk were currently broken up, or so Mona had heard. It did not really matter all that much to her either way; Mona would do what she had been planning either way.
She had not seen Tory in a while, and Mona supposed she should have gone to check on her. And she would, but only after she carried out her revenge on Hawk.
Approaching Moon from across the room, the brunette girl looked up at Mona with a smile.
"Mona, hi!"
She got up from the stool she was sitting on, throwing her arms around Mona. Hugging her back, Mona scanned the room and immediately saw Hawk's eyes locked onto them.
Mona smirked.
"Hey, Moon," Mona replied, pulling away. She eyed Moon up and down, twirling her cup in her hand.
"Are you enjoying the party?" Moon asked, the Mitchell girl giving a nod.
"You sure know what you're doing when it comes to throwing parties," Mona replied, bringing her cup to her lips. "Dare I say, an expert."
Moon grinned with laughter, raising her shoulders. "It's a gift, I suppose."
Mona noticed Moon's eyes flit away, realizing that she was looking at Hawk. The gears in her mind were whirring with ferocity.
"You and Hawk... did you guys break up?"
Moon looked back at Mona, giving a sigh as her smile faded. "Uh, yeah. He's just– he's turned into a huge asshole. I think it's because of Cobra Kai. Wait, no offense–"
Mona cut the girl off with a laugh, shaking her head. "It's okay, I get what you mean. Cobra Kai can have that effect on people."
She paused, the two girl exchanging eye contact. Mona licked her lips, chancing a step closer to Moon as she reached out and twirled a lock of her hair.
"Your hair is gorgeous," Mona remarked, an enticing smile on her face.
Moon smiled warmly, not catching on to Mona's flirting.
"Thanks!" she beamed. "Your hair is beautiful, I mean..."
Reaching out, she pushed a strand of Mona's curls out of her face. "You have the prettiest curls I've ever seen."
Mona tilted her head, keeping a thin smile on her face.
"You have the prettiest face I've ever seen," Mona responded, Moon looking up at her with a sudden blush coming across her face.
"Oh, I-I– thank you. Are you... are you flirting with me?"
Mona chuckled softly, leaning in closer to Moon as her eyes traveled to her lips for a second.
"Would you be against it if I said I was?"
Moon's face was burning, the girl's heart beginning to race. Mona could tell the girl was flustered, her smirk growing.
Swallowing, Moon replied, "I think I would be the opposite of against it."
Mona brought a hand up to Moon's face, brushing her cheek lightly with her finger.
"I've got your number. I'll text you."
With a quipped smile, Mona walked away from Moon. She threw her head over before walking back outside, seeing Hawk's furious glare. Mona laughed under her breath.
It was too easy.
Now, Mona needed to find Tory. She supposed the good girlfriend thing to do would have been finding Tory a long time ago, but Mona's revenge plot seemed to be the more important thing on her mind.
Swiping a bottle of tequila from the bar outside, Mona took a big gulp of it and cringed as it burned her throat. She walked through the sea of drunk dancing teenagers, spotting Miguel amongst them.
Approaching him, Mona tapped his shoulder. Miguel turned, smiling upon seeing her.
"Hi," Mona greeted, her voice loud in order to be heard over the music. "Have you seen Tory?"
Miguel's smile faded, shaking his head at once. He thought he had seen the Nichols girl go upstairs in the house, but he could not have been too sure. He was currently drinking his troubles away with the fact that Mona was dating someone that wasn't him.
Mona sighed, taking another sip of tequila straight from the bottle. Her mind was becoming quite fuzzy now, and she knew that she was probably far more drunk than she should have been.
"I'm gonna keep looking for her," she finally said, walking away from the Diaz boy.
He watched her go, his chest aching a little. Miguel went to grab another drink.
Mona stumbled ever so slightly as she wandered around the outside of Moon's house, finding her way to the pool area. It was empty, aside from a girl sitting alone on a bench.
Squinting, Mona got closer and realized that it was none other than Sam.
"Sam?" she called, the LaRusso girl raising her head.
"Mona," Sam perked up a little as she saw the girl coming closer, rising to her feet. "What are you doing out here? With... a whole bottle of tequila?"
Glancing down at the bottle in her hands, Mona began to laugh. She offered it to Sam, who shook her head.
"No, I've had way too much. I feel super drunk."
Mona gave a small shrug, turning to the pool. After a moment, she set the bottle down and began pulling off her shoes, sitting down with her feet dangling into the water.
Patting the ground beside her, Mona looked up at Sam.
"Come sit."
Sam hesitated, then did so at once. She left her shoes on, sitting crisscrossed beside Mona.
"I was trying to find Tory," Mona said at once, picking back up the tequila bottle. "She's been M.I.A. since you guys' drinking contest."
Sam pursed her lips, fidgeting with her hands in her lap. "Yeah, I'm starting to regret winning it after all."
Mona laughed softly, turning her head to Sam. Maybe it was the alcohol talking, but Mona could not help but to think how pretty she was.
Reaching over, Mona tucked away a strand of hair from Sam's face. Sam looked up at her, a small smile forming on her face.
"You really are one of the prettiest girls I've ever seen," Mona remarked, Sam raising her eyebrows.
She could not tell if Mona was saying it in a platonic way or not, though there was not much about it that sounded platonic.
"Have you seen yourself?" Sam replied, Mona grinning after a moment.
"Oh, don't flatter me Sammy."
Sam and Mona locked eyes, the both of them feeling a tension rising between them. Mona leaned back against her hands, tilting her head up at Sam.
"You know you're the only person that calls me Sammy," the LaRusso girl said, smiling softly.
Mona smiled back. "Good. That means it's special to us."
The two girls continued to stare into each other's eyes, the longing desire apparent in Sam's. Mona knew that she had not moved on to Robby so quick.
Mona sat up straight, bringing her face close to Sam's as she did. The LaRusso girl did not budge, her eyes never leaving Mona's.
"You look like you wanna kiss me," Mona quipped in a quiet voice.
Sam's mouth was slightly agape, unable to think of a defense as she weakly replied, "I-I'm with Robby."
"I'm with Tory," Mona shrugged, leaning even closer as her eyes became low and entrancing. "But neither of them are out here, are they?"
Sam swallowed thickly, trying to convince herself that this was a bad idea. But her brain was completely muddled from alcohol, and she threw all caution to the wind.
Bringing her hands to Mona's face, Sam pulled her in and kissed her. Mona kissed back without a moment's hesitation, letting it happen.
Neither of them noticed, but someone was watching the entire thing unfold.
On the second floor of the house, looking through the window, Tory saw everything.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
It was a miracle that Mona managed to wake herself up in time for school.
Her head was pounding and she felt like she could have puked, but nonetheless Mona got herself dressed and got some breakfast.
She had a missed call from her father, who had called the night before. Aisha had gotten Mona home, and the girl completely crashed when she got there.
Mona could vaguely remember the events of last night, bringing up her call log to see that she had tried to call Tory several times and gotten no answer.
Frowning, Mona went to her text messages. Nothing from Tory.
At once, she decided to dismiss it and deal with it after she got to school. She did not need to be late on her first day.
The bus stop was not too far from her house, so Mona figured she could go there instead of attempting to skateboard all the way to West Valley High.
She checked her phone again as she sat on the bus, still not having a response from Tory. Mona was beginning to grow worried.
Arriving at the high school, Mona stepped off the bus and right up to the school with a confident stride. It sucked that her dad had not been there for her first day, but Mona would survive.
After receiving her schedule from the front office, Mona navigated her way to her locker. Tory was supposed to have been at school, too, but there was no sign of her.
As Mona put her things in her locker, she felt someone tap her shoulder. Looking over, she saw Miguel standing there.
"Oh, hey Miguel," Mona greeted, closing her locker and turning to face him. "I'm actually so glad that you're here, because I am in desperate need of a tour guide. This school is huge."
Miguel laughed softly, dropping his head. "No problem. You got your schedule?"
Mona handed over the piece of paper in her hand, twisting her fingers as he looked over it.
"Have you, uh... have you heard from Tory? She hasn't responded to any of my texts or returned my calls."
Miguel glanced up, shaking his head. "Mm... nope. Is she okay?"
Mona shrugged. "I don't know. I'm getting pretty worried, though."
Handing her back her schedule, Miguel placed his hands in his pockets. "I'm sure you'll hear from her eventually."
The bell rang just then, Miguel saying, "You want me to walk you to your first class?"
Raising an eyebrow, Mona followed alongside Miguel as he began walking without giving her much of a choice.
"You must be pretty smart," he remarked as they walked beside each other, Mona giving him a look.
"What makes you say that?"
Miguel looked over at her with a quipped smile. "You have all AP classes. We actually have precal together, third period."
Mona poked her tongue in her cheek. "I'm not that smart. I do just enough to get by, really."
The Diaz boy chuckled softly, stopping in front of a classroom.
"Well, here we are. AP English. I hear that Ms. Santiago is a real bitch, though, so good luck."
Mona gave a laugh, looking up at Miguel. "Thanks for your help, Champ. I'll see you in third period."
Flashing a smile, Mona turned and entered the classroom. Miguel watched her go, giving a small sigh.
As soon as Mona entered, her eyes landed on Sam LaRusso. She was then hit with the memories of last night, of her and Sam's rather heated make out session.
Immediately, Mona smiled.
She walked over to the girl, taking a seat in the desk beside her. Sam did not seem as happy about seeing Mona, however, setting down the book in her hand.
"Sammy," Mona continued to smile. "What a pleasant surprise."
Sam brought a hand to her face, turning her head to Mona at once.
"Mona... we need to talk. About what happened last night. I– we both made a huge mistake."
Narrowing her eyes, Mona shook her head in confusion. "Mistake? I don't regret anything that happened."
Sam's eyes widened slightly, almost appalled that Mona would say that.
She leaned closer to her, halfway whispering as she replied, "I'm with Robby. You're with Tory. We– we–"
"We did what, Sam?" Mona cut off, leaning her head to the side. "We cheated on them? At least own up to it, instead of calling it a mistake. You didn't seem to think it was much of a mistake last night, now did you?"
She sat back in her chair, turning and facing the front of the room. Sam watched her momentarily, inhaling deeply.
The morning announcements came on, drawing away from the awkward silence between Mona and Sam. Mona listened as the girl droned on, reaching in her bag and pulling out the book that she was supposed to be reading for this class.
Looking over it, Mona felt like she could already fall asleep.
Just then, the speaker was cut off with a sharp screeching sound over the intercom. It sounded as if there was some kind of argument over the speakers, Mona raising her head curiously.
At once, a different voice rang out.
"Samantha LaRusso."
Mona's eyes widened slowly as she recognized the voice as none other than her very own girlfriend's, looking over at Sam.
"You know what you did, and now you're gonna pay for it."
Sam looked to Mona, both girls feeling their stomachs drop. Mona sat up a little straighter in her seat, wondering if she should get up and go find Tory.
Then, Tory spoke again, and her voice was filled with anger.
"I'm coming for you, bitch!"
Mona tapped her foot rapidly on the floor. "Shit," she muttered, giving Sam another look.
The bell rang just then, Mona gathering her things and quickly catching up with Sam who was leaving the room.
"Sam, wait," Mona followed after her, the LaRusso girl walking down the hall and ignoring her.
Mona decided to deal with Sam later; she needed to find Tory. Taking off in a jog down the hall, Mona pushed past students as she tried to find the Nichols girl.
Just then, rounding a corner, was Tory. She could not see Mona through the mass of students, walking right past her and heading for Sam.
Mona turned back around, following behind Tory as she approached Sam with a halt. They stood across from each other in the hall, students gathered around on every end.
She pushed her way to the front, seeing the girls circling each other. Mona found herself by Aisha, who had no idea what was going on.
"I saw what you did at the party," Tory finally spoke, Mona holding her breath.
"You kissed Mona."
Aisha looked over at the girl, Mona drawing in a breath slowly. Robby and Miguel were now standing at the forefront of the crowds, both of them looking over to Mona.
Sam was at a loss for words as she saw Robby standing behind Tory, giving a small shake of her head. "I... I–"
Her words were cut short then, Tory's fist flying at her face.
