Chapter |15|

"Dont fall in love unless you are brave enough to protect your loved one..."
_Jimin

"Frustrating hangover!" he muttered, attempting to rise from bed but immediately succumbing to the throbbing headache caused by last night's alcohol. The door to his room swung open, revealing Jin carrying a tray of food, coffee, and medicine. Amused by Jin's motherly appearance, Jimin couldn't help but giggle.

"I see why you're laughing. Now get yourself out of bed and take care of that person sleeping next to you," Jin quipped, playfully scolding Jimin. Jimin turned to his side and let out a scream.

"Oh my God!" Jimin exclaimed.

"What now?" Jin shouted back, covering his ears in response to the loud scream.

"It's not just anyone, it's your girl, y/n," Jimin said, causing Jin to recoil in shock.

"Goodness gracious!" Jimin yelled once more.

"What is it?" Jin asked, frustrated, as Jimin was about to close the door.

"Jungkook must be home by now."

"So what?"

"He doesn't know about us."

Jin sighed, realizing the seriousness of the situation. Jimin tugged at Jin's shirt, pouting and seeking his help. Unable to resist Jimin's cuteness, Jin relented.

"Fine, I'll explain everything to him," Jin finally agreed.

"Thank you, hyung. I will never forget this," Jimin expressed his gratitude, his eyes gleaming with appreciation.

"Don't be so cheesy. And for heaven's sake, don't ever drink with a girl you're dating. It always leads to trouble," Jin advised, shaking his head. Jimin blushed, his cheeks turning red. Jin chuckled and dialed Jungkook's number, knowing how annoyed he would be after receiving a call from the hostel, informing him that his dear sister had gone missing the previous night.

After a few minutes, while Jin was still dialing, the door burst open, revealing Lee Jungkook standing there. Jin became tense, attempting to put on a forced smile.

"What brings you here so early, Jungkook?" Jin asked, trying to divert Jungkook's attention.

Jungkook sensed that something was off. Jin's behavior seemed strange, confirming the suspicions he had after the hostel warden informed him about Jimin's actions. That morning, he received a call from the hostel, and upon checking the CCTV footage himself, he saw Jimin outside the hostel wearing a mask and a black outfit.

"Do you think I'm a fool?" Jungkook shouted, causing Jin to flinch.

"Jung... look," Jin stammered, trying to find the right words.

"Why are you stuttering, Jin hyung? Get her out of here," Jungkook demanded, his anger palpable.

Jin hesitated, turning toward the stairs. However, he heard the sound of the door opening and looked up. Jimin stood there, nervously scratching his nape, and smiling at Jungkook. Jimin felt a wave of numbness wash over him.

Although Jungkook was his boss at work, when it came to his sister, Jimin knew Jungkook was fiercely protective. Jimin sighed, locked the door behind him to ensure y/n's undisturbed sleep despite her hangover, and paid no attention to the ongoing commotion.

"Jungkook, I'm sorry. It's not what you think," Jin interjected, attempting to diffuse the tension.

Jungkook clenched his fist, slamming it against a nearby table, shattering a glass into two pieces.

Jin mentally calculated the cost of the broken glass while simultaneously typing on his phone, trying to divert his attention from the escalating situation. Meanwhile, Jimin anxiously watched Jungkook, preparing himself for whatever he was about to say.

"I trusted you, hyung. Not just as a friend, but as a brother, to take care of my sister. I expected you to look after her like a sibling," Jungkook's voice resonated with disappointment.

Silence hung heavily in the air. Jimin couldn't find the words to speak; all he could do was repeatedly utter apologies. Jin, feeling sympathetic toward Jimin, who stood there with his gaze fixed on the floor, couldn't remain silent any longer.

"Jungkook, stop it. She wasn't dating anyone else. It's just Jimin. So, what's the problem?" Jin interjected, attempting to reason with him.

Jungkook glared at Jin, his frustration evident. "If you were in my position, would you willingly give your sister away to a member of a mafia family?" he snapped.

Jin's lips tightened into a thin line, sharing in the heavy burden of the situation. Jimin felt a deep sense of remorse, and just as they were engulfed in their distress, the door swung open once again, revealing y/n rushing downstairs. Witnessing Jimin's tear-stained face, she quickly wiped away his tears when she noticed Jungkook standing there. With a shocked expression on her face, she saw the tension in the room and cautiously approached Jungkook, who immediately embraced her, preventing any further outbursts towards Jimin and Jin.

"Oppa, I... I'm sorry for hiding it from you," y/n whispered with a tremor in her voice.

"Shut up," Jungkook snapped, causing her to flinch and step back, taken aback by the intensity of his anger. His frustration and fury were visible, as the veins on his neck pulsed with the force of his emotions.

Jungkook then turned his attention to Jimin, his voice filled with a mix of anger and disappointment. "Choose between our friendship and her," he demanded, leaving everyone gasping in disbelief. Jin couldn't contain his outrage and yelled at Jungkook, urging him to stop the confrontation.

"Jungkook, stop this nonsense!"

"Oppa, please don't do this to him... I will..." y/n started, about to say that she would break up with Jimin, but before she could finish, Jimin interjected.

"I, Park Jimin, will take responsibility for her. I no longer want to continue our friendship because..."

Jungkook's fist clenched tightly, his anger simmering beneath the surface. "I can't trust you anymore. You're fired from my company, and you can deal with your family business on your own. From today, y/n will stay with me."

"Jimin...!" y/n cried out, her voice filled with anguish.

"No, what I've said stands," Jimin replied firmly. "And Jin, you can go back to work now. The problem is resolved."

Jungkook walked away, slamming the door shut behind him. y/n collapsed onto the floor, hugging herself tightly as she cried uncontrollably. It wasn't her fault that she had developed feelings for Jimin, her brother's best friend. Overwhelmed by self-blame, she sank deeper into despair.

"Jimin... it's my fault. I should die I shouldn't have fall for you," she sobbed.

"No, baby, it's not like that. Don't think that way," Jimin consoled her, his heart breaking at her fragile state. Jin, witnessing her anguish and tears, couldn't bear to stay in the room any longer.

"Get her back to her room. I'll go and sort everything out," Jin said, his voice filled with a mixture of concern and determination.

"But hyung, Jungkook won't talk to me anymore," Jimin replied, his voice tinged with sadness.

"Leave him alone for a while. Give him some time," Jin advised, trying to offer a glimmer of hope.

"Jin oppa, give me something to drink," y/n requested, her voice filled with exhaustion.

Jin swiftly went to the kitchen, poured some apple juice, and handed it to her. She drank it all in one gulp, surprising him. Jimin patted her back gently, providing comfort and support. He held her tightly, allowing her to cry into his chest, wetting his shirt with her tears.

"y/n, baby, stop crying. It's not your fault. I'm okay. I don't know if Jungkook will be okay, but we have to believe that he will," Jimin consoled her, his heart heavy with guilt. Jin exchanged a glance with Jimin, silently acknowledging the difficult situation. He then helped y/n to her room, wiping away her tears as she continued to weep. Exiting the room, he looked up at the ceiling, unsure of what to do next.

"I'm going out for a while," Jin finally declared.

"Jimin, don't go see him," Jin warned, concern lacing his voice.

"I know, and I won't," Jimin affirmed, his determination evident.

Jin nodded, his worry etched on his face, as he watched Jimin drive away. He let out a deep sigh, turning on the television to catch up on the news. A sense of foreboding crept over him, as if something significant was about to unfold. His instincts urged him to check on y/n in her room.

"Help..." a desperate scream pierced through the air from upstairs, causing Jin to rush towards the stairs, breathing heavily. When he reached the source of the sound, he was overwhelmed with shock and dread. There lay y/n, surrounded by a pool of blood, a knife clutched in her hand. The windows were shattered, and the room was in disarray. How had he not heard the sounds of struggle or her screams? Panicking, Jin swiftly dialed for an ambulance, checking her pulse in relief as he confirmed that she was still alive. With tears streaming down her face, y/n briefly opened her eyes, her voice barely a whisper.

"Tell Jungkook... someone stabbed me."

With those words, she lost consciousness, and Jin held her hand tightly, his grip unwavering, until the ambulance crew arrived and whisked her away to the hospital.

Letting go of your loved one is not easy...and the struggles to keep her protected is hard..
