Chapter 16 : Ewha
Happiness is like a colour which is vibrant and noticeable, and an elucidation of the of the hormonal balance.
Different colours represent different levels of happiness and for me, it was white, where all the colours mix.
Not only did I get the offer of life and death, but also left my nemesis' mouth ajar.
"Thanks Sunoo." I said. I didn't get a response back and almost thought my device to malfunction in excitement, when I realised he had already ended the call with a text message on my phone.
We congratulated me and told that he was going to clean the house again. I guess it's okay, he's busy.
"Hey, Your presentation was amazing." Miyeon cheered next to me.
I generally don't like company because I hardly trust anyone but today, sharing my happiness with her wouldn't be my last option to do.
"Thanks girl." I turned to her and mirrored her smile.
"Woah! You wanna talk today? I thought you hated me." She looked perplexed at my behaviour.
"I mean, I never hated you. Yeah, I did not find a reason to be happy, you know. But today, I'd be glad to share the break with you." I responded.
"Oh my! Finally!" I laughed at her actions. Why was she so excited?
"Lmao, why you so excited?" Her giggles made her petite self look cute.
"I have been wanting to talk to you for ages. So you accepting me, is my honour. I like how bold and brash you are to speak out against Jangmi." It's always lovely to get complimented but I wasn't expecting this.
"Thank you." That's the most probable answer my brain could come up with.
"So... Umm... Did you collect the new syllabus?" Her physiognomy flashed hesitation to continue a conversation.
"No. Has it changed?" I asked.
"The advertisement section hasn't. But as I heard on the grapevine, they have added mathematics. Idk, the reason though." She said.
"Omg, I hate it." I rolled my eyes. The news outlet had also been casting the same headlines. Apparently the new education minister wants the country to "progress" in the mathematical sector.
"Ikr. I'll ask my fiance to tutor me." The shyness on her face, gleamed a pinkish tint on her snowy cheeks. She wasn't as bad as I thought her to be.
"You're getting married?" I asked in awe.
"Yeah. After I graduate." She replied.
"Cool! Congratulations. I think I'll ask Addie or my brother to help me. Could you please send me the syllabus?" I said.
"Sure. Let's talk some time again, later. I'll be at the library to collect some data on my project."
"Okay." I looked at the time. It was 10:00, my last class. I hurried to the classroom. I want to meet Sunoo soon.
I don't know what it is, but there are certain feelings the heart is unable to explain, often lagging any explication, that pulverize the evil fay: Dejection.
It makes the pantry of melancholy an effete debris of rag. It's like a bright canticle that blocks the harrowing arrows of unwanted tales.
But Desolation is still a fay, a spirit of coldness that creeps through the little funeral crevices of life.
That loneliness has always been our companion, right from the first, till the last. It won't leave a person even in the most crowded street, just how it is for me.
Yet after all, I had an urge to accompany someone, I know not a week. He has become the oil to my engine, the star to my constellation.
My mind could not concentrate on the presentations the rest of the class made. The few words which I was hearing, where no match to the esoteric dossier, my brother made.
The class seemed to be longer than it was. I checked my phone and it was just a rough 1 hour since the class started, yet I felt like a year long wait.
Mrs. Moon was appreciating some of them but description of their art styles used on the advertisement flyer, was shoddy.
I don't want to laugh at them but the way Mrs. Moon called Cheongah's style "substandard", had me wanting to roll on the floor, while my temerarious laughter echoed in the tiny space.
I had no work, so I read through the documents. Now I understand, why Heesung was asleep at 8:00. He is an early bird, and wakes up at 6:00 or even at 5:00.
That's the typical unholy to me, although, that trait would be considered as Jesus's favourite child.
I don't care. Lucifer was God's favourite angel. I'd rather be Lucifer.
"Hotel workers, managers and employees serve myriad purposes and their roles may vary from physical to even abstract mentoring.
Typical asian hotels with a rather higher budget serve the basics and specific services, based on the country they located at.
These may include (as per South Korean data, 2111-2121 census)
•Special Humanoid, Thai Spa.
•Cassino and non-payment i-displayer use.
•Free 7.3 SG WiFi.
•Snack Baskets with Local Flavours
•Automated Nexa Changer Car.
•In-room games
•Automated roomate, gamer and sex worker.
•Personalized Toiletries
Hence, According to the data inference, we can conclude that the implementation of the specific services, can catch the eye of a vast and varied community/population."
Reading his paperwork had me gauging my eyes out. I didn't know he performed so many tasks at work.
How many hours did he go through his knowledge Bank to make me the paperwork that got me to heights?
His paper was more organized than definable. All his heading had a bold but deep shade of blue and the Canteneo BT font couldn't make the sheets look more aristocratic.
I closed the document as I heard the warning bell. Class would end in 15 minutes. I had brought my bag with me to leave the earliest possible.
I hid my papers in the secret pocket. My gut feeling was bugging me. I was preparing to leave the class soon.
The last bell clankled with an ear-deafening sound. I hurried from my seat to be at the front of the que. The class bowed to Mrs. Moon and fought to be out.
I made it out of the classroom before that Jangmi could bother me but my fate is more unfortunate than a sleep deprived code developer.
"Lee Y/n..." Her blasphemous mouth made my ritually pure name, untidy.
I twisted my head towards them, with a fake grin, painted on my face as if someone substituted grass with cow-shit.
"Yes Jangmi?"
"You took my chance of being the TL."
"Oh well, for that, you actually need a brain which probably fell off when you were pushed out of your mum's vagina, I assume it to be tinier than the nut inside a peanut shell, that it couldn't be found even till the date." She bit her lips and I stood there infront of her, with my hands on my hips. I don't have the brain I'm judging her about, but who cares? I just used my birth right and privilege.
"I want your paperwork." She extended her as if I owe her my life.
"Sadly, I don't have one." I said.
"I see. Girls!" Her pack of untamed inhumans launched their hands on me, like some claws.
"Whoops!" I lowered my head to dodge them but their spontaneous efforts of hitting me, was too powerful to be neglected.
As I tried saving my crown, I heard the splashing sound of some huge load of liquid substance, cascading like a waterfall.
The whole corridor turned towards the source of the sound, including Jangmi's chicks.
"Addie!" I was surprised to see Addelyn pour a Grande size cup of luke warm water on Jangmi.
"I hope this helps you grow a little bigger." Addie smirked at the girl and gazed through her soul. Her intense green eyes had an influential impact on the one she stared at.
As if she possessed the hypnotically alluring power of dark sorcery and clairvoyance.
Jangmi thumped and stormed out of the corridor, embarrassment filling to the brim line. Addelyn's smirk grew wider, proceeded by an eyebrow wave, directed to me.
"Not all toppers are nerds." She swayed her big hands on my cheeks. Her husky tone has always given me gay panick and only if she wasn't dead for Yeonjun, I would have been down for her.
"You don't have class?" I laughed at how she dissed Jangmi.
"Nah! The principal is deciding on interior decoration supposed to be done for the LCMB CEO. They're coming to meet the TL next week. Which is apparently you and you didn't tell me!" She scoffed at me.
"I just got the opportunity today. I would obviously tell you." I made a puppy dog face.
"Okay, c'mon, give me a hug!" I jumped on her and hugged her tight. She's the best person.
"Enough! Come on it's 12:05 already. Let's go and pick Sunoo up." We ran to the parking lot, rushing inside the car. The engine started with a 'purr' sound and Addelyn played the retro playlist on her Spotify.
We were listening to songs, hundred years old. The finesse about old songs is that, back then the quality of music was pure art and not just some repetition of syllables and words.
Addie had amazing vocals. It was like a carpool karaoke for us. We were singing on the top of both our lungs.
"You know, I often wonder how music sounds in the future." Said Addelyn. We turned at the corner of the roundabout, to enter Sunoo's street.
"Same." We stopped infront of Sunoo's apartment, where he was already waiting, clicking random selfies. Sigh, this kid.
He noticed us and Addie beckoned for him to hop up. She started towards the flyover, crossing over our University, Ehwa Women's University.
"Sunoo, look to your right! That's our university. Ewha Women's University." One of the oldest and most prestigious University, only for women, in our country, stood in the centre of the ambrosial garden.
"Wow! You both are in Ewha? Amazing! It still the same in 32nd century." Sunoo's eyes moved no inch away from the institute, untill it was far gone and out of sight.
"Yeah, we are in Ewha. Addie's planning to do her post graduate diploma and PhD in Seoul National." I stated.
"Woah! These institutes have the hardest acceptance test." He was left with a wide mouth.
"I know. Addie will ace it, I'm sure. And oh! Sunoo, I am the TL for the advertisement LCMB is doing in collaboration with Ehwa."
"Really? Amazing! Your presentation was indeed wonderful. I'd like to read the document." He clapped with his eyes, squeezing tiny.
"Absolutely! But the credit goes to Heesung. Half of the documentation was by him."
"Heeseung should be proud." Said Addelyn.
"Nope, he won't be. When I successfully complete the advertisement, he will be." I knew my brother's austere personality, better than anyone.
"You know Y/n-ah, there are two types of Greeds. One that is evil and out of jealousy of having more than somebody else.
And the other is to be more than what you are. The hunger to be better, to get better. And after years of living a competitive life, which has more predicaments to come, I promise, it works."
My vision roamed around him, trying to decipher the mother of his sudden wisdom which he probably couldn't assume my brother to have already naged me on.
"He's cute right?" Addie whispered to me.
"Mhm..." I hummed.
