Chapter 37 : Shoot
"Stop! Stop! Cancel this!" Stumping my feet, I threw my toys out of the pram and yelled at the crew.
I reached the shooting site late because I wasn't informed about the time and to add insult over injury, all the nation's patients had to use the emergency ambulances. Consequently, our car stopped to let those go and I got delayed by another round of minutes.
"But ma'am this is how we're instructed." One of the light man voiced.
"How were you instructed this when I clearly published the notice!" I fumed in my frustration.
"Ma'am..."
"What? Who told you to shoot this?!"
"The order was posted... On the... N-notice board..."
"Notice board?"
"Yes, ma'am." The man strutted. I held my face in my palms, regretting my life decisions and breathed in, almost panting. I have been working nonstop, and this is the 2nd time my shooting plans have been sabotaged. Even though I try to find the culprit, the CCTVs show nothing.
"Fine. We don't need to fake the advantages the hotel doesn't provide. There was nothing said as such to exaggerate the stupidity. Get on the van and change location to the sauna." I calmed myself, knowing that the crew had no idea of what was going on. And that they were innocent.
I turned around and marched towards the car. I hadn't worn my heels today yet my feet were tired. The hotel was a huge university alone. Covering an area of 2,472 Acres, the hotel was no less than a real time palace of the ancient South Asian countries.
And there, I had been running like a horse, leashed to the whip of a princely viceroy.
I asked my driver to stop as we got down to see Jaechan and his crew in the right place. They were wrapping up and I just reached.
"Y/n-ssi? What took you so long?" He approached me as I opened the door and gestured the rest of the crew to proceed in.
"Don't ask me, they went to the wrong site, thinking that was where I asked them to go." I replied with a smile spread over my face. I knew I had an enemy who was envying me internally and that was the reason how nothing but my crew was misguided. My crew had no fault in this and I don't want the poor strugglers to lose their job because of my stressed ego.
"They went to the wrong place? But hadn't we posted the announcement?" He asked with disbelieving curiosity.
"Exactly! I don't understand who took them to the wrong site. They said it was someone from the company. Anyways, let's complete the clicks." Excitedly, I called my crew down.
"Nah! It's done here. Let's shoot at the pool tomorrow. And take a break today." Saying so, he called his crew out and walked towards his van. I stood there, staring at them leave. For some reason, his today's behaviour felt a troll.
I diverted my eyes towards the colourless and gloomy faces of the 4-5 men in my crew. They worked on daily wages and they had to deliver their day's work to earn their wage. If they don't work today, they get no pay. And it's not that they didn't want to work.
"Ma'am... How will be eat tonight?" Asked the camera operator. He was a kid, hardly a seventeen years by age, and was uneducated.
I couldn't let them down, today. I would be guilty if I end up having them an empty stomach at night, just because someone envies me.
"Don't worry. I promise, no one will remain hungry tonight. We'll also shoot. Let Jaechan-ssi do it his way and let's do it our way, okay?" I proposed a new idea.
"But the plan?"
"Come on!" I ran towards the entrance with my crew of 6 and entered the exotic hotel. Although I was against the time, I had special connections. Not the nepo of no reason.
I checked in the resort and demanded for the manager. Waiting for some time, the junior manager came running towards me. He had thought it to be some unsatisfied guest but I assured him that I only needed the shooting permission. I dialed my brother, the manager's boss. He gave me the go and the freedom to do whatever as long as I don't destroy stuff.
My crew stared at me as I took them to the room I booked, we were going to capture the room first. A new inspiration had already set it's stepping stones in my factory of thoughts.
"Look, we're changing plans. We'll not show the people, we'll make the people feel the advertisement. Ready?"
"Fighting!" They roared together.
Our first shot was a person relaxing on the bed but it required models and I couldn't get any casts at this moment. I picked the camera girl for the shot. She was a pretty young lady to be in the shot. That would also interest people of every financial sector.
"Okay, you just need to enter from that door and fall back on the bed. Got it?"
"Cool! And lights, camera, action!" I flapped my notebook, directing the view of the cameras. Just how I expected, the girl entered with her exquisite smile and fell on the bed like an angel. I need to slow down that fall.
We headed for a full revolving shot of the room, as she played behind the curtains, enjoying herself. Changing the room, we entered the deluxe bathroom. I opened my shoes and walked on the Egyptian marbled floor, wet with water. Focusing on the natural elements of it, we changed the scene and ran towards the stairs. Except for one camera man, all of us ran down the stairs.
"Cut!" I ordered as the camera guy stopped recording us hurling down the stairs like some excited kittens.
"What are we clipping now?" Asked the youngest of the crew.
"We're clipping this lounge. Look, you're incharge of this shot. You'll click a panoramic shot, capturing all of us in slow motion." Saying so, I ordered a coffee for all of us and we sat there sipping that. The chandeliers and the indoor plants that were kept was our best view.
I needed a music and I immediately texted our group to get me good EDM musics. Funnily that was also captured on the camera and I couldn't like it less.
I let them take a short rest and have a cup of coffee as I walked around the corridors, capturing small aesthetics. The hotel was actually beautiful. I used to think it just as their exaggeration.
I found the robots Heesung had written in my final portfolio. They were all working in the gym and spa. I approached a group of people to get their shots, working out in the hotel. They posed for me and I took not many videos of them.
Walking back to the lounge, I was enjoying my work. The chill song playing made me dance. I wasn't wearing my shoes and it's been a while since I walked barefoot. I groved with the lyrics, that felt like me.
"Ma'am, I have a suggestion." Said the angel of the crew.
"Yes?"
"We should click in the huge pool. That's just peaceful!"
"Come on!" I made them follow me to the room I booked and opened my heavy jacket, wearing only my shirt and black slacks. I didn't want to look too formal and show off as a very casual shot.
"Just enjoy all of you!" They gazed at me for a moment, knowing no one ever said them this. I used sign languages to explain that I wasn't joking and tried earning their trust in my words.
"Let's go!" They ran behind me and started enjoying themselves. I was recording their joy. I have never done things like this, atleast not in my 6 months life as an advertiser.
Seeing them laugh was suddenly making me feel happy. I had been engaged to my work pressure and stress but their joyous smiles and laughters felt like a refuge. I had been a maniac and sadistic person, never knowing how much people actually struggle. I wasn't the one that would stop and wait for anybody. I didn't even wait for Heesung, once upon a time. And now, my dinner time without his idiotic jokes, is incomplete.
I never had a knack for smiles. I never smiled as much as I have been since a year and never had I ever thought of smiling to the smiles of other people. But there I am, smiling.
I have had a positive change. I don't know if I'm older or I was never what I used to be. Whatever the case may be, I was contemplated by it.
"Ma'am, won't you come?" They called me. I changed the camera to self capture and clicked us all, enjoying the cool waters and the scenery.
"There's a dance floor. Can we dance?" I wonder how much they get mistreated that they're even afraid to dance without their senior's permission.
"No one needs to ask for permission. We don't need permission to dance." I felt a pull on my wrist and lo and behold, I was in the centre of the stage.
The music played, and sounded like a mashup DJ. The sun had set. I didn't realise that.
"It's your dance!" They yelled and I was shocked. The lights blared around the party arena and the people were rooting for us to dance. I had lost my synchronization to the music for not dancing. I knew no steps.
"Giddy up!" I heard Heeseung's voice and spotted him with all the guests, dancing on the other.
I laughed at him. He was a true dancer but his moves were sloppy. He was walking towards me and whistled at the DJ to power the speakers up.
"Capture all these!" I commanded the camera guys, clicking from all angles we could spot.
"Ready?" My brother challenged me.
"Ready!" I jumped and matched his steps. Copying Heeseung was the best option.
The roaring whistles of the crowd, their mesmerized dances and the howl of the evening; was a concert, a refuge to my struggles.
Even dancing, my mind thought of the amazement I was enjoying even while working. Can all works be fun oriented?
To enchant is to do more than persuade, it is to delight, to seduce, and to inspire. To persuade is rational and cerebral, to enchant is emotional and experiential and in a world of information overload and product clutter, it is the emotional and experiential that cuts through.
When ywe enchant, webcreate a smile and that smile becomes associated with who we are, what we do and why we do it. That smile is a brand equity of the most valuable kind.
These smiles were my verification of value.
The psychological state of enchantment is so strong that it can feel like you are under a spell or a trance, and these words are often interchangeable with enchantment. A work of art that is particularly captivating and enjoyable can also be termed an enchantment.
I was enchanted by the services, my work and the people I made happy.
It's okay to make people feel special.
"That was so lit!" The crew enraged in a cheer of appreciation.
"I know right! Let's get dinner a little later and work on editing this now, shall we?" I said.
"Yes!"
"Great! And also please don't tell anybody about our clips right now. They'll not pay you today but I promise your wage."
"Can we call you noona?" Asked the youngest one.
"Sure, kiddo!" He giggled and I laughed at him.
"You know, you can brighten a dull man's day!"

I was so out of ideas for this chapter.
But we're having a few more sweet chapters before me get into the research again.
The research would lead to the 2nd twist and the answer to Sunoo's questions.
Then, we'll probably end the book.
