Chapter 49 : Belle Douleur
Pain is beautiful. Pain is not indifferent to our world but we need a walk to get away from our misidentification of what real pain is.
We say that our happiness is dependent on the presence of light or the happening of such an event where all we see is brightness. We say that we will be happy when we get that result. Our happiness is dependent on the light, the spiritual light.
When the light is absent, all that we see is a caliginous nebula, a darkness unconditionally in love with the atmosphere. That atmosphere is our mind and that darkness, our pain.
When that result comes, we tremble. We seek for refuge but everything gets worse. We cannot be happy.
Real happiness, on the other hand, does not depend. It is totally internal to you. It is your own, intrinsic. Nobody can take it away, nobody can give it to you.
The intensity of your happiness is directly proportional to the intensity of your fear.
Wise enlightened people are happy all the time. It's one heck of a claim. An audacious one.
Yet, what is happiness when the one you love is not only far away but somewhere with no hope. If love dies young, when does hate develops? If hate is all we know, why do we love someone?
"Sunoo," The screech of tires indicated that they were at their destination. "It's today or never."
The car door made a loud noise as Sunoo's eyes watched Heeseung step out of the car and march towards the security deposit. What were they doing?
Following the prints of the older guy's feet, Sunoo chased to stand behind Heeseung. Heeseung needed not to explain anything and the guard let them in the despondently enormous building.
If the walls sunk in and a dilemma was caused, what would it be called? Dimension:Dilemma, wouldn't it? Wouldn't it shrink dimensions and become a point? A point where existed no life?
"Hello, Hello, Hello," Clicking of shoes in the silence of nowhere and a wicked voice of a maleficent man, matched the darkness of the night. Who doesn't love a peaceful night? He who doesn't love a peaceful night is the corrupt soul that makes the serene silence into a menacingly eerie deafness.
"What brings you here, dear brother?" The light dispersed into with the slender figure walking with graceful steps, just far enough to be unrecognisable. But they say, the one who needs to know, knows irrespective. Very true of it. Both the men could understand who the rancorous voice belonged to.
"The very person you want to be, Lee Hyunseung."
"Not so early, my dear."
"Jaechan... Is your brother?" Horror was so frustrating, wasn't it? But now what was Horror? Horror is just the fun of watching others suffer. What a horror!
"Jaechan, you don't need to do this. Just let us take Y/n back." Heeseung voiced.
"Uhuh! That's the problem, dear. That's exactly what the problem is. Y/n has become Appa's favourite in no time and all these years of my hardwork worked not a jade. She's your sister in law, your girlfriend is dead. Why do you even care huh?" Jaechan howled at Heeseung, finally showing his face to the two pairs of fiery eyes.
"Jaechan, don't make me do anything that you will not like. Where have you kept her?" Heeseung commanded.
"Where have I kept her? You ask me where I have kept her? I wanted to kill her!" Madness howled in his voice and his short figure howled over the older guy. A loud sound of a harsh and flat blow of skin, a slap, created a sudden disruption in the burgeoning silence.
Heeseung, indeed an iron hearted man, had his eyes shut tight. Shooting them open, a petrifying figure of Sunoo stood there. Pretty uncanny to see any emotions but his bright happiness on his face yet today, these amber globes that held the world Heeseung once saw in Suwon, looked devilishly filled with hatred and anger.
Sunoo started launching his bawled up fist on the shorter man mercilessly. That softness is him was taken over by an indefinable madness, that enforced a certain rush of hormones in his stem. There was no way to stop him from punching the bleeding man.
"Sunoo, stop!" Heeseung pulled onto Sunoo's beautifully shaped body but he who created the world made him and the universe sympathetic without "sy" in it. Madness was the only constant, only everlasting floret. And a madness caused off aggravation was the snap of doon's demon.
"You hell-hated fucktard!" Sunoo growled, completely ignoring the presence of Heeseung. Love is painful and pain is beautiful, he who has been trapped in the shackles of love is nothing but Maniae's fool.
"Sunoo, stop it! Only he knows about Y/n, you can't kill him." Heeseung spoke louder to hit the ear of the younger boy, still trying to set the boy back.
"Hyung, this... He has my locket, he didn't leave Y/n. He's a... He's a bastard!" Sunoo roared, fighting his arms free from Heeseung's grip. His shouts of anger changed to cries of desperation. Y/n had been gone for two days and this guy, apparently her brother, had his necklace on his neck. How could a human not lose his sanity?
"Stop it, Sunoo!" Heeseung pulled the paler guy in a cage of forced hug, restricting any possible movements. Sunoo still fought to get off his grip but Heeseung was the mightiest.
"Sunoo-ah, you can't kill this boy right now, can you? How will you know what happened to Y/n? Tell me. We need to find her, right?" Heeseung looked into those amber globes again, explaining the severity of the situation. Sunoo wanted to defend his action but Heeseung had a stronger point. How would they find Y/n?
"You can understand me, right? Don't kill him. If anything happens to Y/n, I will forget that he was once my brother and you shall have the right to annihilate his existence. Okay?" Sunoo nodded, holding back his tears in. His head was rested on Heeseung's chest and that feeling of someone hugging him was new yet so familiar to him. His sister never hugged. His love never hugged him and even if she did, he was to young to still hold onto that essence.
But Sunoo was neither like the other. Somewhat like his own sister, Y/n: uncontrollable and unexpected; and somewhat like his love, Suwon: fragile but determined.
Heeseung pressed his lips on the younger boy's forehead and forced a weak smile. But when the lord has decided a day full of havoc and misery, it is fated.
A tremor below their feet was felt and even before they could make their heads work, they were crashing down, pulled by the gravitational law of free fall.
A shriek escaped Sunoo's lips and they found themselves in a blatant darkness where no one was visible even in the slightest. All the light had been absorbed. And so had Sunoo, in his fear for small and compact places.
"Sunoo! Sunoo! Where are you?" Heeseung had bruised his knees and the cadaverine smell of rust hit both their olfactory receptors. Yet, even if the world were to crash and burn today, Heeseung would not be stopped. Scouring through this pockets, he looked for his i-display.
"Sunoo!"
"I'm here, hyung!" Sunoo choked, hardly striving to breathe. Heeseung lit the flashlight and directed it towards the source of the voice. The light flashed back on his eyes as he spotted a relatively large and transparent polyethylene cage, extremely close to Sunoo's bodies. The width of the box was so less that if Sunoo layed down, he would need to subtract his body from the pelvis.
"Sunoo, how'd you get in there? Ah-" Heeseung cried as a sharp razor blade tyrantly pierced through the labrum of his left shoulder blade. Another simultaneous blow stabbed through the flank of the anterior abdomen, an area on the sides and back of the abdomen, between the lower ribs and hips.
"Surprise, dear brother." Jaechan's shrill voice emerged again, kicking the wounded Heeseung. Pathetic, he was another pathetic inhuman full of greed and jealousy.
"Jae... Chan..." Nobody but a wounded man knows the taste of pain and blood. Heeseung groaned on the floor, clenching his torn labrum as a puddle of sanguine fluid pooled around him.
Beside the fallen man groaned Sunoo, turning a blueish tint. In medical science, this is termed as Cyanosis caused due to the lack of oxygen in the tissues and blood to function bodily functions. In one word, Hypoxia.
Sunoo's mental condition was too weak to sustain the darkness he was enveloped in and then bear with the deprivation of oxygen in that small cubicle.
"Sunoo, my dear, you're turning blue. Oh! My bad, my bad. I completely forgot you're claustrophobic. Else, I would have made your cage a little smaller." Jaechan's snake like eyes matched his hissing voice. The only thing different was unlike a real snake, he attacked for fun.
"Jaechan!" Heeseung pulled Jaechan down on his feet, growling over him and trying his best to compete. Oh lord, if you existed, don't you hear the cries of desperation in their hearts?
"Where is Y/n? Where... Is my Y/n!"
"Why do want Y/n?!"
Their eyes had hatred and anger for eachother. Abel and Cain, they were in the history. Oh lord, wouldn't you listen to the whispers of evil?
"Y/n is my sister! Y/n is our sister!" Heeseung yelled, hitting the crown of his opponent's head on the floor.
"What? She's our sister?" Never in life had Jaechan ever looked into Heeseung's eyes the way he had now.
"Yes. Yes, she is! And that bastard father of ours is a monster. What do you think, you'll ever be the heir? You'll never. He had his will signed on my name ever since I was born. Does he even consider you his son? How did he treat your mother, tell me? Tell me! My mother and we had left the family. Couldn't he marry your mother? Couldn't he welcome you in? Did he do that?" Heeseung howled at Jaechan. Jaechan always had an answer to everything but today, was Heeseung wrong? Was Jaechan ever a priority?
"Jaechan, I accept you were an extremely bright student. But you're as dumb as a post. You're nothing but a donkey who works his whole might to get nothing in the end. You're nothing to him. Why are you helping him? Did you forget, your mother was nothing but a toy to him? How could you?" Heeseung slapped the boy, spitting blood.
"Jaechan-"
"Argh! Stop it! Stop it!" Have you seen a demon cry? Does a demon cry? Well if demons don't, humans do. Even in an inhuman, the irreplaceable soul mother makes a human. Mentioning the name of a woman he could not have survived without, Heeseung hit Jaechan exactly where he needed to.
"Why stop it now? You're no different from Y/n. You're motherless, mistreated, abused, dumb, ruthless, determined and pessimistic. You're just not as kind as her. You're just not as special as her. But you are. Who do you think saved you on that night from those boys? Your father? Lee Hyunseung? Nah. I did. I have always done." Heeseung left the boy, walking closer to Sunoo who was struggling to breathe anymore. His claustrophobia had made him motionless and anytime a panick attack waited for his poor heart.
"Come out, Sunoo! Do it yourself!" Heeseung approached the box again. Sunoo only gazed at Heeseung. His body wasn't in his control, totally taken over. Heeseung's shoulders had given up.
"Heeseung, stop. I'll do it." Heeseung turned back to see Jaechan wiping their blood off his face and walking towards a specific point over the wall.
"Appa, you watching? You should. I will save Sunoo and bring back Y/n."
"What? What are you doing?" Heeseung questioned.
"Watch." Jaechan hysterically laughed and walked to the other side of the transparent box. It hadn't even been a minute since he moved that a breathtaking noise of bullet, fired straight through the box. And Jaechan.
"Jaechan!" Heeseung yelled, his arm almost falling off.
"Dear brother, I just redeemed for all my sins. Will you forgive me now and save our sister? Can you also tell my wife, Miyeon, that I love her? And Miso, that Appa isn't bad?" Jaechan breathed in all his life and Heeseung knew, his brother was now a human.
"Sunoo-ah, I can't help you. That crack in your cage can only be broken by you. I will be there for you. Go, don't let yourself be like me. Don't let your love die like me. Redeem my mistakes for me, would you?"
