Joelle Khoury has to redo her volunteer hours at a local food pantry after some of her classmates are caught faking their community service. Although she wasn't a part of the scandal and walks in on her first day determined to make a good impression, her classmate and long-time food pantry volunteer, Kane Wheeler, doesn't welcome her with open arms.

A brooding loner by choice and math whiz, Kane is Joelle's polar opposite. While her parents cut their private school a fifty-thousand dollar check each year, he's on financial aid. While she runs a fashion Instagram, he runs track. And while she can't seem to make higher than a C in AP Calculus, he solves integrals for fun.

Although Kane is initially hostile, putting Joelle on trash duty and making her awkward encounters with clients even worse, a generous offer to tutor her makes him rethink the wall of independence he's built around himself for years. The two form an unlikely bond over math, alternating study sessions between her house and his each week. With glimpses into each others' lives, Joelle finds the close-knit household dynamics she's always been craving, while Kane begins to reconcile with the privilege he once had and lost.

But as their feelings deepen and their insecurities rise to the surface, Joelle and Kane will have to decide if love is really about bridging their differences—or if accepting each other as they are is enough.

hi! very long time no see. as an ode to my older Wattpad days, I'm throwing it back with a sweet and wholesome dual-POV opposites attract YA novel.
