"IF I'VE BEEN FOUND OUT, REN'LL HAVE MY HEAD."
MOS EISLEY, TATOOINE-
The encounter with Poe Dameron had left Kyra in the back of an abandoned moisture farm, newly bruised and heart racing.
She couldn't explain why, exactly, but as Kyra presses herself up against the alleyway, carefully watching the man fade from the distance, she let out a small sigh. She hoped that he would make it out of this desolate desert planet alive, and with the information she had given him.
It dawned on her that she had never given him her name, and Kyra almost let out a chuckle at that thought. Such a trivial thing to be worried about, yet something that the Resistance pilot had made such a big deal about not knowing for the amount of time that he had known her.
Oh well, he would just have to find out the next time they encountered each other on one of Kyra's missions.
Making sure that there was no evidence that the two ever met in this alley, Kyra covered up the footprints of Poe and the rolling trail that his droid left with him. However, there was one final thing that she had to do before she could face the troopers that were inevitably coming- and it wasn't going to be pretty, either.
Kyra had to make it look like she had gotten herself into a fight with the Resistance pilot, otherwise she would have no excuse as to why she lost the coordinates. Taking out one of her sea glass knives, Kyra quickly slashed a slice across her cheekbone, not even flinching when she did. If she wanted the First Order to think that Poe had escaped, she had to make it believable.
Giving a deep breath, trying to prepare herself for whatever happened next, Kyra slipped out of the alleyway, pretending to stumble out as if she had been injured. She ran straight into a stormtrooper, who looked rather startled to run into her at that exact moment.
"Solani." The surprised trooper exclaimed, almost standing more rigidly when he made eye contact with her. His gun was pointed to the side, not aimed at her. It seemed like she was safe from suspicion for now. "We've been looking all over for you."
"Well, I've been looking all over for you, trooper. Where were all of you five minutes ago? I was attacked by that Resistance pilot. He took the coordinates." Kyra pretended to be the most frustrated person in the galaxy, pinching the bridge of her nose as she sighed.
"So you failed the mission?"
"No." Kyra gave a disapproving look to the trooper, almost as if he was implying that he expected her to fail. "What do you take me for? I still have the coordinates of the planet that they're on. I was able to memorize it before he took off with it. But we're going to have to hurry if we are going to make it there before them." Kyra explained, pretending to shake herself off, putting on a cool and collected demeanor as blood began to drip down her cheek.
"Shouldn't you get that?" The trooper worriedly asked, gesturing to the area of her cheek that was bleeding with his free hand, two fingers following the slash on Kyra's cheek. "That seems a little concerning to me."
"Interestingly enough, it is none of your concern, trooper. What is your concern is ensuring that we follow orders and make sure that Kylo Ren gets these coordinates." Kyra impatiently exhaled through her nose, actual irritation beginning to break through her facade. She didn't need more people worrying about what she was doing or holding her back from quickly getting back to base.
The stormtrooper stared at Kyra expectantly for a moment, making her give a grunt of frustration. "That means we need to move. Now. I'm going back to my ship and I'm going to fly back to the Star Destroyer base to update Ren. I suggest that whenever you go, go back to your post and report to your official."
Almost scared of the next reaction that Kyra would give, the trooper hastily moved past her, speaking over his communication signal that he had found Solani, and she had ordered them to move out. Watching the trooper walk away, Kyra tried to keep herself composed, letting out the smallest relieved sigh.
There was an almost hurried pace to her walk back to her ship all the way across the small Tatooine town, passing by countless more abandoned moisture farms and places that seemed to be worn out and broken down marketplaces. The old empire of pod racing and gambling that used to go on in the Outer Rim planet were evident, with crumbling buildings and a sign that seemed to advertise another city on Tatooine built for pod racing itself.
The walk seemed like it took eons. With every stride that she took, Kyra's heart pounded with worry and anticipation. She had to make sure that Dameron made it back to his base with the information that she had given him- and fast. Kyra knew that Kylo Ren would be hot on his heels once he got the coordinates.
Finally arriving at her ship, Kyra quickly opened the ramp, walking quickly inside and shutting the ramp in quick succession. Throwing her weapon belt on an open seat after unfastening it, Kyra was about ready to start getting the ship ready for takeoff when she saw a blinking light at the front of the control board.
It was the communications light.
Confused as to who would be sending her a transmission and why, Kyra pressed the blinking light, seeing an unmasked Stormtrooper show up on the transmission, half in his uniform. It was 4236, and he looked rather frantic.
"Kai, Princess, whenever and wherever you get this, I'm telling you to stay the hell away from the First Order. Stay away from any of their bases, any of the Star Destroyers, the Star Killer base, any planet that the First Order could recognize you on. Something's wrong here. " He frantically rushed out, nervously running a hand through his hair and pushing it back.
"What?" Kyra whispered to herself, trying to process what the man was saying. How could the bases not be safe? What was going on that was worrying the man so much that he would have to send her a communication like this and not contact her directly?
"There's something serious being discussed. Someone in the higher rankings of the First Order has been giving information to the Resistance, and they're trying to find out who- if they haven't found out already." The transmission continued, Kyra's eyes widening as she connected the dots.
They had found her out.
Not even seconds later, a moment after her realization and 4236's pause, the stormtrooper spoke again, a nervous tone in his voice as he spoke the words that he knew would startle Kyra.
"I'm pretty sure they're talking about you, Princess."
It was like her whole world stopped. She could barely breathe, barely process anything that was going on. Kyra had been found out. Someone had told the First Order of her betrayal, and now she was going to pay for it.
Almost falling out of her seat, Kyra tried not to start panicking as she thought about all of the horrible consequences that would come to her if she was ever to be caught after this. Ren would have her head, probably executing her in an instant. Hux would find some joy in torturing her to some extent, as would Deftrine, and she was sure that many of the other generals and higher placed members within the First Order would love to watch her be ripped apart.
"It's pretty obvious to us. I mean, Six and I have known about what you've been doing for a little bit now. You aren't the most inconspicuous person around us. At all." 4236 tried to crack a chuckle, but there was a hint of sadness behind his eyes. "But Six's been reassigned, as have I. That was the biggest clue that something was up. Because you know that we would never leave your side. Willingly, at least."
There was another pause. It seemed like 4236 was more sad than anything else now, almost as if he knew he was saying goodbye to a lifelong friend. Which, to be fair, for the both of them their friendship was like a lifelong one.
"So, I know this might sound bleak, and, to be honest, kind of depressing, but I know that if I don't ever see you again, you'll be safe. I'll hope that wherever Six is stationed- he mentioned some Supreme Leader Star Destroyer or something was his new station- he doesn't find you either. Please, run somewhere safe and away from the First Order. Find some remote planet and station your ass there, kid. Because if the First Order got to you now? I don't know what I'd-"
His voice stopped, tears cracking through his almost put together facade. "I don't know what I'd do." he finished his sentence, clearing his throat in an attempt to compose himself again. "Safe travels, Princess. And, I know you don't really believe in all of this horsecrap since it really doesn't affect you, but, I figured I might say it anyways."
"May the Force be With You."
The transmission cut out, Kyra finally gathered herself together again, understanding the severity of what had just happened. She was alone. There was no one to reach out to, no one to turn to. Everyone that she trusted was now lightyears away from her stationed, on different bases and never to be seen by her again.
Where to go now?
The answer was unclear, but if she could go anywhere, travel anywhere easily and never be seen again in the Outer Rim, there were many great places to do it. But first, she had to get into the sky and make sure the troopers on the ground didn't find out about the information of her being a traitor and shoot her before she could even leave the ground.
Prepping the ship to take off, all of the motions were natural to Kyra as she steadily lifted the ship off of the ground, using the natural settings and the lessons that 4236 had taught her to help her get off of the ground again. She took to the skies as quickly as she could, exiting the planet's atmosphere, ready to find a planet to safely land upon and hunker down on.
She quickly scanned the Outer Rim coordinates and places that she could go to again. Her home planet was just beyond her reach, but too dangerous. She was comfortable with the terrain and people but the looming threat of the First Order finding her there was too easy. Of course they'd assume that her home planet of Sorgan would be the first place that she'd run to.
Ryloth was a place unexplored for Kyra. She had heard legends about the people who had lived there, and how peaceful they were. But if the First Order were ever to find her there, she would ruin the balance of their daily lives- and she didn't want to upset the locals and go in blind to a place she had no clue what she was doing in.
Batuu was the planet of her first mission. It wasn't easy to reach, but it was easy to blend in with the crowds that came and went from that area. There was a rumor that a Resistance base was on that planet, and maybe that would be her best shot at contacting the gangly crew going against the First Order- if they didn't arrest her and suspected her of spying on them.
Batuu seemed like the best bet out of a bad bunch.
Punching the coordinates into her ship, Kyra was about to start maneuvering her ship on the right path to the Outer Rim planet when she heard a loud beeping noise coming from the ship's radar system. She wasn't focused on the noise, determined to get out and escape the First Order.
However, as the radar's noise got louder and louder, Kyra was forced to tear her eyes away from what she had been looking at, seeing that her radar was being filled with countless ships. They had made the jump from hyperspace to her location, and were starting to surround her.
Which could only mean one thing.
The First Order was right on her trail.
Muttering a string of swears under her breath, Kyra realized that nowhere on the Outer Rim would be safe at the moment. If they had found her ship here and were fast approaching her location, she had to move- and fast.
Punching in random coordinates from the ship's search memory, Kyra hoped that they were going to take her somewhere far, far, away from all of the shit that was inevitably about to go down in front of her if she stayed. Seeing the coordinate lock in, Kyra gave a small sigh of relief, prepping the rest of the ship rapidly to jump into Hyperspace.
Her hand resting on the lever that would make the jump, Kyra was about ready to pull it and launch herself away from all of the ships that were blaring loudly on her radar now. Her eyes trained on the area in front of her, it didn't take long for Kyra to react to the huge TIE fighter that swooped in front of her ship, stopping her from making the jump to hyperspace.
Letting out a sharp scream, the young woman was startled by the quick and sharp maneuver, her eyes barely coming into contact with those of the person in the ship in front of her. And when Kyra saw who was staring into her eyes from across the way, she froze on sight.
It was Kylo Ren.
Somehow, Kyra's ship was able to connect to his, a crackling silence coming through her communication before the silence came to an end, the man speaking slowly and menacingly, almost savoring the moment as if he had just caught someone inside of his trap.
"Going somewhere, Solani?"
