Sunday, September 16th (part 3)

Kendall led Everett back to the big staircase she entered from. "This is the west entrance. Many wedding photos are taken on these steps," Kendall informed her. The stairs were big, yet simple. What really drew her eye were the eight Corinthian pillars that were outside. Two were on each side of the large dark, wooden, door which was now open to let everyone inside for morning service. The other four pillars were outside and held up the roof.

They entered inside were black and white checkered tiles and Catholics entered them. Everett gave a fake smile, her teeth showing through her slowly parted lips. "This is the Nave and on the other side of the dome is the Quire." Kendall went close to Evertt and whispered, "To be honest, I don't know why they are called that, but this is a tour and I like to cover all of my bases." Everett's heartbeat went faster and she slightly pushed him away acting as if it was a playful shove.

They turned to face the left. "To the left is the bell tower and to the right is St Dunstan's Chapel." The bell tower–which was the place that Kendall had previously taken Everett--was closed, but St Dunstan's Chapel was open.

"Do you ever ring the bell?" Everett asked, walking towards the door. Endall ran in front of her and grabbed her hand which made it to the doorknob. Everett looked up at Kendall confused.

Kendall removed her hand from the doorknob saying, "Only a select few people are allowed to ring the bell, and only they can go through that door."

"But what about earlier?" Everett argued. "You brought me into the bell tower." She crossed her arms.

"Well..." Kendall said, putting his hand on the back of his neck. "That was an emergency, and I wasn't lying. We do take people to the bell tower if they are thinking about getting baptized. It's just that people sometimes go up there to..." Kendall began quiet, he looked to the checked floor. A frown was displayed on his face. For the oncologist, he had been lately frowning a lot. Everett was worried that maybe that was her fault, but she quickly pushed that thought out of her brain.

"What do they do?" Everett pushed him to continue.

"They sometimes to go up there to commit suicide," Kendall said. He didn't look at Everett. It was like he was silently mourning for the sous. Kendall said. He didn't look at Everett. It was like he was silently mourning the dead souls. Everett didn't say anything in this awkward moment of silence.

"Anyway, I can let you see it later after most everyone leaves the cathedral," Kendall said as they started walking to St Dunstan's Chapel. They went through the whole Cathedral. They went from the North Aisle to the South Aisle. From the Navie and into the dome. He showed her the North Transsept and South Trnaspet. From there, they went back to the dome.

The sound of a bell ran through the old building. Everett looked around, the loud sound surprising her. Kendall–who was standing right next to her–smiled and said,"Service is about to start. We better sit down." The oncologist walked towards the room which had an altar and a pulpit. Many filled seats were in the huge room. They sat near the back as there were not a lot of open seats available.

After the sermon, Everett was like shooting on Kendall's shoulder. Everett's short, black bob was messed up and tickled his ear. The oncologist didn't seem to notice, or if he did, he didn't seem to mind.

Kendall lightly shook Everett's arm to wake her from her slumber. Her eyes snapped open and she bolted up freight unintentionally hitting Kendall in the cheek. Her pupils darted around the room taking in all of the details. The sandy pillars, the colorful, stained glass windows, the altar, the preacher, the singers on the stage with their robes and stalks, and finally at the man next to her rubbing his cheek.

"Oh," Everett said, putting a hand on her gaped mouth. When her senses came to her, she realized that she was still in St. Paul Cathedral.

The sound of music filled the room as string instruments and a piano played gently. The choir started to sing as Everet bent down to see if Kendall was okay. "Are you..." Her eyes looked away in embarrassment. Some of the people around them were singing as they watched out of the corners of their eyes. Everett gulped. She didn't want to come back to this cathedral ever again.

Those eyes reminded her of a dreary day. A day in which the rain pelted down on her black raincoat. Many other people were there. They all watched her. They watched to see what she would do. They watched her cry; and from that day on, her heart was hardened.

"—Okay?" Someone said, Everett looked up and saw the person who said the word. Kendall was rubbing his cheek.

"Did he ask me if I was okay?" Everett thought. A droplet fell upon her hand. She looked up. She didn't see anything. Everet look at Kendall, the music came to a stop. People walked out of their seats and into the aisle. Everett didn't move, tears spilled from her eyes. Her hand went up, it shook as it couldn't ascend both slow and straight. She touched her checks.

"Everet, are you—" Black, cambiar boots stomped on the titled floor as the black clad woman runaway from the oncologist. She pushed through the church goers even amgaging incoming an elder man o n the floor. People rushed to his aid.

"Hey, get back here she-devil!" He yelled his fist held high and shaking. She didn't know if it was shaking because he wanted it to or because of is old age. Either way Everett flipes him the bird and escaped the cathedral with what little dogmatic she could salvage.
