Fighting with my best friend

April

"I'm going."

"You're not going anywhere."

"Let me go!"

"I think your plan is suicidal and you should terminate it immediately."

"Oh please just shut up Leah!" with one more attempt to break free from her grip I swung my arm swiftly towards me. "Let me go!" I didn't like it hell it was killing me to shout at her but I had to.

"You're not getting it Leah! There's no other way!" I plead her trying to get it through her head but alas.

"Why don't you just believe what Austin said get over with it!" Leah smacked the locker behind her making two students and the end of the hallway whisper among themselves.

"Austin? You want me to believe Austin? He doesn't even care! When I told him about Gracie he didn't believe me why should I believe him now!" My hands were still held back by Leah with just one hand.

"Maybe he didn't believe you because what you said was hard to believe." Leah muttered.

"Seriously?" I finally yanked my hands away from her and faced her. "I know what I said was absurd but it was true Leah! She tried to kill me! Why didn't Austin believe me? Why did he think his sister would lie?" Tears threatened to fall out any moment and I swallowed hard my dry throat desperately in need of water.

Leah stayed silent and her eyes were glued down on the floor.

"April-"

"No don't. Don't try to convince me otherwise. It is because of Gracie I'm living at your place. It's because I can't and won't step in a house where she lives. Even when Austin is there still I'm scared. Do you know why? Because I can't trust him anymore!" I stopped to get some air in. I felt raged at Austin and even more because Leah was actually trying to take his side.

"Why do you trust Christian for? We don't know anything about him! You should stop associating with him now that you know the truth." Leah wasn't backing down.

I took a deep breath. It was hard fighting with my best friend.

"Leah I know that. Even though I've lived with him for around three weeks I just know he is not that kind of guy who would drink and drive." I wondered what I said made sense to her.

"Its not the truth Leah.I have to confirm. I have to find out. As you know that truck driver is still wandering around somewhere. I don't know what police department was doing for a year but I am not saying I'm going to find that culprit. I just want to know if Christian is related to it in any possible way. I know it wasn't him. Don't ask me why. I just know." Leah sighed and walked away slowly.

I turned around and caught the clock hanging in the middle of the ceiling. It was four thirty five. Realizing the sixth period began half and hour ago I decided to skip it.

I had two options now either to find Leah and wander around the school with her or head straight to the library. I chose the latter.

Our librarian was absent from his seat as usual so I registered myself and got in. It was quiet and peaceful here just as I liked it. There was no one else here because school wasn't over yet so it was calmer than usual. No sound of flipping of pages or scribbling of pencils. I found myself in front of romance section and shook my head immediately turning around and heading to another section.

"Excuse me?" Hearing a girlish voice I looked back. A blond stood curling her hair strand with her finger. "Where is the librarian?" She asked.

"He's absent as you can see." I gestured at his table.

"Oh, well whatever." She swung her sleek purple bag around. She registered herself as well and came towards me. She stopped and squinting her eyes she scanned my body up and down.

"Are you by any chance April Grey?" Her eyes gleamed with some emotion as she said my name.

"Um yes." It was awkward the way she looked at me also in my life at school I didn't remember being so famous that any random girl would know my name.

"I'm Sophia." She was suddenly closer and held my hand with hers. "It's so nice to meet you." She whispered in my ears. I tried pushing her back but she was practically weighing all her weight on me.

"Um yeah sure." I mumbled. What was wrong with this girl?

"I have heard about what happened to you. That guy called Christian hurt you right? He was actually arrested and got bailed out yesterday right? How pathetic of him trying to cover all his bad deeds with some lame excuse like medical issues." She babbled out nonsense. What was she even talking about?

"What are you saying? That's not true!" I was shocked by the rumors. Christian hurt me? He was arrested? Who the hell spread such shit.

"So  it's true as well. He even brainwashed you! You poor soul!" She went ahead and hugged me.

I couldn't believe what people were talking about.

"You poor soul." Sophia repeated and hugged me tighter. Her hands were back behind my neck and just when I was about to push her away something sharp pierced in my neck and she let her arms loose ending the hug.

"Did you just.." my eyelids felt heavy and the energy in my body drained abnormally. Something was happening to me and this girl did it to me.

"Sophia..what did you.." I managed to stand with the help of tables around but I couldn't stand steadily. My body felt heavy as if my legs couldn't hold it together anymore.

"Hazel!"

I slumped down my eyelids closing shut. I knew who was calling.

"What happened?" Hey you! What happened to her?" He panicked as his steps came closer.

"Hazel? Hazel wake up!" I felt his familiar warmth as he scooped me in his arms. His breathing was raised. However I felt my breathing slowing down.

"God what happened to you?" He kept rubbing my palm.

Strangely I felt calm like I had never felt before. I let my body loosen and my brain shut down. I heard him calling out to me one last time before my senses were lost.

He called me April.

Christian

"April wake up!"

No matter what I called her or how many times I called she didn't wake up.

"You there! What happened here?" The blonde stood still looking down at us. Her eyes were dead. She looked like she didn't hear my words.

"I'm talking to you!" I shouted but she didn't even flinch.

Realizing I wasting time I got up and carried Hazel out of the library. School was awfully quiet like no one was present here. I crossed the hallway and went straight to the infirmary room.

"Excuse me?" I asked half peeking in. When I got no response I went in. Placing Hazel on the single bed present in the room I pulled out my phone. However before I could dial any number something sharp pierced the skin on the back of my neck. I cursed wrapping my hand around it.

"Rest for now." Someone whispered from behind. The voice belonged to some girl. "Who.." my head feels heavy and words stuck in my throat. "Hazel." I throw a final glance at her before darkness clouds my vision.
