Chapter 10: Surprise Call 5-31-16

Noah couldn't fall asleep tonight. All he was wondering about was Robin and the shark. Have her parents found out that she is gone? If so have they called the police? Would he and Doyle get in trouble? If they did get in trouble, what would it be for? What was the shark doing right now? All these questions and so many more raced through his mind.

He turned over in bed a started petting Randy, his dog. Sometimes petting him calmed him down. Randy turned to face Noah and licked his hand. Noah smiled, but was still upset about everything that had happened today.

Noah sat up in bed and turned on his blue lamp next to his bed. He took out a clipboard, a pencil, and a line piece of paper. There was no way he could fall asleep right now, so he started writing all the possible ways Robin could have gone missing.

1. The shark could have landed on her and then she could have drown?

2. She could have lost her balance and fell into the deeper water were the shark found her?

3. The shark could have landed and seen her and then decided to eat her?

Noah thought of three different things and then gave up. Anything was possible and somehow Noah didn't believe Robin was gone. But how couldn't she be gone? All he knew was that Doyle and him had another mystery to solve. And they had to finish both mysteries by the end of the week. They only had six more days of spring break and then back to school for them.

Noah put away the clipboard, pencil, and folded the paper and put it next to his desk. Then he turned off the lamp and actually fell asleep.

-----

The next morning he awoke to the home phone ringing. He sprang out of bed and flung open his bedroom door. Randy followed him out of his room and down the stairs. He kept saying to himself, 'keep ringing, keep ringing, keep ringing, keep ringing'. He finally reached the phone and answered it with a loud,

"Hello!?" his eyes were wide and a smile creped upon his face. Randy looked up at him and moaned and cocked his head.

"Yes!" then a pause. Then, "I will be right there!"

Noah ran to his beach bag that still contained his phone, the extinct shark book, and a banana from yesterday. He also packed a new towel, since the other one flew off his head during the storm, and flung the bag over his shoulder.

He then took out a piece of paper and wrote a note to his parents,

I am heading over to Doyle's house . (7:02am) I will text you when I will be home. Bye, love you. (I put Randy up in my room.)

- Noah

Noah placed the note on the kitchen table and ran up stairs with Randy. He said goodbye to him, kissed his head, and put him in his room. Then he ran down stairs and out the front door. He then remembered he was still in his pajamas so he reluctantly went back into the house and got dressed in orange swim shorts and a blue t-shirt with a shark on it. He said bye to Randy again and ran out the door.

He started running down the sidewalk to Doyle's house with a huge smile spread across his face. He kept running until he saw the library. Even though he wanted to get to Doyle's house he knew the right thing to do was return the shark book. He didn't need it anymore since they knew what shark they had found.

He ran up the steps to the library and opened the door. He stopped before he went in and thought that the security ringer would go off since he didn't actually check out the book. So he ran behind the library to his secret room. The screen had flown off but he still had the actual glass window there. He opened it, climbed into his room and locked the window behind him. Then he closed the drapes and set down his beach bag onto the beanbag. He would be back in a second to lock up.

He walked out of his room and out into the library walking around like nothing strange just happened, even though he had jumped through a window to get inside. He walked back to the shark section and placed the book on the shelf with all the other shark books.

As he turned around he saw the main librarian shelving some adult movies, the lady who let him have the secret room. He didn't want to get stuck talking to her because he was in a hurry, but he didn't want to be rude. He walked over to her and said,

"Hi Sandy!"

The old women looked up and smiled, "Hi Noah! I haven't seen you in a while. What books have you been reading? How have you been?" She kept shelving the movies, but was still paying attention to me.

"I've been great; I'm on my spring break right now, so no more school until next week! I have been into shark books lately. They are very interesting,"

"That's great! That will give you more reading time. Sharks are scary to me, but whatever gets you interested you should read and explore it more,"

I smiled and said,

"Thanks" and "I will!"

Noah walked back to his room and put a piece of gum in his mouth and then slung the bag over his shoulder. He locked his door and walked out the main front doors of the library. Then he started running again to Doyle's house.

Noah noticed that the clouds were getting dark and he knew there would be another storm coming today or early tomorrow. Hopefully it would be a gigantic storm that could help the Megalodon out of its trapped area.

He ran past the beach, but didn't spot the shark. The sun was just coming up, but the clouds were already covering the shine of it. Noah knew he couldn't spot the shark from where he was standing so he kept running to Doyle's house.

Doyle's house was now in view. As soon as Noah got there, he opened the black gate to the front yard and jogged up the steps to Doyle's front door. He knocked on the door. No answer, so he did so again. Then one last time before he was about to ring the doorbell. A second before he did so, it was opened and somebody stood in the doorway that made Noah smile.

A/N: Who do you think is at the door?
