Clara.

Well, that was um awkward.

We spent the rest of the drive in silence.

My eyes lingered on Aiden. His jaw was clenched and his hands clutched the steering wheel tightly.

I kept thinking back on his words.

"I will never leave you."

I smiled stupidly. Maybe it's because I believed him. Over the past few days, never mind we've been through a lot, but I began to trust him even more than anyone else.

But I know he doesn't trust me.

"I am not like my father."

What on earth could he have possibly meant? I know this concerns Mr. Martin, but how?

Something tells me Mr. Martin isn't quite the angel that I believed he was.

I shook my head. I was reading too much into things. For now I needed to get Aiden into a better mood. Questions can come later.

"So," I said,  "where are we going?"

That seemed to work, because his features relaxed and he smiled.

"It's a surprise."

"Oh? Don't tell me you plan on kidnapping me again." I said mockingly.

He laughed and soon I was laughing with him.
*****************

We finally arrived at a pizza place.

"You should've told me it was pizza. I would've worn my pizza shirt."

"Who doesn't love pizza?" he asked.

"The rich and the dignified." I answered.

"Bullshit. That's what they want you to think, that all they love are salads and caviare. But trust me, everyone loves pizza."

I nodded.

We sat by the corner booth and a waiter came to us.

"Good night, I am Sam and I will be your waiter for tonight. Have a look at our limitless menu and I'll be back to take your orders."

I looked up to get a good look at him. He looked cute, with his neatly done haircut and his fitted T-shirt. He wore red jeans and a dazzling smile.

Aiden cleared his throat and I turned to look at him.

"What?" I asked him. He glared at me and continued staring at his menu.

Problem much?

I ignored him and glanced at my menu.

About five minutes later, Sam came back.

"So have you decided on what you wanted to eat?"

"I will have a pepperoni pizza with cheese." I said, handing the menu over.

"Excellent choice. That's my fave too."

Aiden snorted.

"And I will have a Hawaiian pizza with extra pineapple." said Aiden, handing over the menu and glaring at Sam.

"Okay, what size?"

"I'll have a personal pan."

I snorted. "I'll have a large pizza."

"You sure you'll be able to eat all of that?" asked Sam, his eyes wide.

"I will."

"Okay, then."

He practically scurried away from us. I turned to Aiden.

"What is your problem?" I asjked him.

He shrugged. "I would ask you the same. Is it that time of the month? I could buy you some chocolates instead..."

He did not just blame my temper on my period!

I stood up. "Are you sure it ain't yours?! Cause I have a tampon little girl!"

Everybody stopped what they were doing and stared at us.

"Why on earth would you call me a little girl?! I'm not the one that has a little crush on the waiter!"

Now Sam was staring at me.

"Oh my gosh, are you jealous Aiden? Cause last time I checked I have freedom of movement and yes, that includes my eyes!"

He turned red in the face. "Not when you're with me!"

"Does it even matter? You've been acting like a little bitch since we got here!"

He paused and stared at me. "You take that back!"

I made a pouty face. "Aw, little Aida can't handle the truth!"

The guys were oohing and I saw someone holding up their phone.

Oh shit!

How could I have forgotten?

We were in a pizza joint arguing.

Great.

This was exactly how I wanted the date to turn out.

I faked a smile. "Sam hun, be a dear and pack my pizza to go."

The pizza was packed and I collected it.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I will be taking the bus home."

Just as I turned to go, I felt Aiden's hand on my waist.

He pulled me back and then kissed me.

In front of everybody.

Some awed, others yelling 'go home'.

Then he pulled away.

"All forgiven?"

I smiled shyly. "Yeah, but you still owe me a good date without jealous guy mode."

*********************

We ditched the pizza place and headed to the park underneath a tree.

"Ain't it too late to be acting all cliche?" I asked.

"Nah. There's nothing cliche about hunger."

We laughed and we opened the pizzas.

We ate in silence, then Aiden made a face.

"I'm beginning to regret asking for extra pineapple on my pizza."

I laughed. "You did that to piss me off, but you suffering now."

"I'm sorry."

"It's okay."

We continued eating until the pizza was done.

"I'm still hungry." I said.

Aiden stared at me, his eyes wide in shock.

"What?"

"You just finished a large pizza all by yourself." He pointed out.

"You know I want to see your point but I don't. Care to elaborate?"

"And just when I thought you were ghetto."

"Boy, I will smack you so hard..."

He chuckled. "I'm joking, I'm joking. I'm hungry too."

As if my prayers were being answered, the ice cream man made a stop.

I got up. "I want ice cream."

"Are you nuts? You could catch a cold."

I rolled my eyes. "But Ma, I'm grown."

He rolled his eyes and muttered something.

We bought ice cream (he bought a cone and I bought a tub of ice cream).

He glanced at the tub. "You sharing?"

I hugged the ice cream. "Get your own. I don't share food."

**************

After we finished the ice cream (eventually I shared cause he kept staring at me with those green eyes of his like a lost cat), we started talking about random stuff.

Then.

"No way! Anime is life!" he shouted.

"I rolled my eyes. "I don't care what they are, they're all cartoons!"

He gasped dramatically. "There is a huge difference between anime and cartoons!"

"They're all the same!"

"No they're not! If anime and cartoons are the same, then Justice League and Avengers are the same!"

He did not just go there.

"They're not the same and you know it! One is from Marvel and the other is DC Comics!"

"Well there's a difference between anime and cartoons!"

I sighed. "We'll continue this later because if I continue with this I'll slap the stupid off of you!"

He calmed down. "What you wanna talk about?"

"Let's play a game."

He frowned. "I hate games."

"Too late. The game is called Truth be told. Basically we'll take turns. A person has to say one word and the other has to answer saying 'truth be told...'"

He nodded. "Sounds interesting."

"Well let's play then. I'll start first. Hobby?"

He leaned against the tree. "Truth be told I love writing poetry. It's just, I can't describe it. It's my hope in this hopeless world."

Those words alone made me realize that something went wrong in his childhood.

But what could it have been?

"My turn. Ex?"

"Truth be told, none."

He looked shocked. "You're lying."

I shook my head. "Nope, never had those. When you have a father that thinks he knows what's best for you and an over protective brother ain't no way in hell any guy would take the risk to go out with you."

He laughed. "I hear that. I could've sworn your brother wanted to kill me."

"My turn again. Ex?"

His smile slowly faded and he became all serious. He looked away.

"You don't want to know."

"The hell I don't want to."

"Clarisse, I'm serious," he held my hand, "you really don't want to know."

"Aiden, that's for me to decide. If I can be honest with you, why can't you be honest?"

He got up. "I think I should take you home."

Before I could respond, he carried me to the car and we sped off in the direction of my home.

But my mind was elsewhere.

Something definitely went wrong in his life.

Hi jelly monkeys!

I'm so sorry I took so long to update.

Mama's sorry, forgive Mama.

Aiden is being a jerkhole, ain't he?

But it's not his fault.

We know all of Clara's secrets but there's still more to know about Aiden.

Anyways...
