Interrogating Malfoy

Winter came by quickly. Annie was relieved, because that meant that at least 85% of the school would finally leave her alone with no more taunts or rumors for a good couple of weeks. She was still happy that Professor Dumbledore didn't think that she was a suspect, though.

On Christmas Eve, Hermione had dragged Dante away with her so that they could complete the Polyjuice Potion on time. In the meanwhile, Annie, Ron, and Harry were in the Great Hall, sipping on hot chocolate and getting whatever their hands could reach.

Hermione and Dante came in on them halfway through their Christmas Even dinner. Hermione put down two cupcakes on the table. Ron went to secretly sneak one of them, only to have Hermione smack his hand away. Ron whined, pulling his hand back to his lap. He scowled.

"Aren't those for Harry and me?"

"No. You'll be glad that you didn't eat them. I'm going to tell you our plan. Everything is set. All we need now is a little bit of whom you're changing into."

"Crabbe and Goyle," Ron answered.

"Precisely. Now, once they're asleep, pluck out a few of their hairs, and put on their uniforms."

"Whose hair did you, Annie, and Dante rip out, then?" said Ron in half-horror, half-amazement.

"We've already got ours," Hermione answered proudly. "Millicent Bulstrode. Slytherin. I plucked this off her robes during our last Transfiguration lesson."

"I grabbed mine from some Slytherin b!tch by the name of Jezebel Rose. Half-blood Slytherin. I got this off her robes at the end of Potions class. Dante got his off a guy named Ennio Montgomery."

"We're going to check on the Polyjuice Potion. Make sure that Crabbe and Goyle find these."

And with that, Annie, Hermione, and Dante left, leaving Harry and Ron to figure everything out by themselves. Hermione made some final touches on the potion before it was finally finished. By the time Hermione had taken the Polyjuice Potion off the burner, the boys had come back, walking awkwardly in their oversized Slytherin robes.

Hermione told them to gather around the sinks. She began to pour each of them a scoopful of the potion. The sight made Sera gag.

"We have at least one hour before we turn back into our regular selves," Hermione reminded them. "Add the hairs."

Annie added the hairs of Jezebel Rose. She wrinkled her nose in disgust. Even Ron groaned aloud when he saw the potion froth and bubble in front of his eyes. He looked a bit green.

"Ugh! Essence of Crabbe!" he gagged.

"Cheers," said Hermione flatly.

They clinked their glasses together before drinking. It didn't take long for them to react. Unfortunately for Annie, she reacted a bit later than the rest of her friends. She gasped in pain and shock before dropping the glass beaker. She leaned over the sink bowl, expecting bile to come up her throat. But nothing.

Instead, she could feel something weird happening to her body. She glanced up at the mirror and saw her new self that she did not feel comfortable with.

The bathroom stall squeaked open. She whipped around to see Ron standing there in Crabbe's form. His face looked ghostly pale as he examined his fat hands. His eyes went wide when he saw Annie's new transformation.

"A-Annie?" he squeaked.

"Ron!" said Annie. "I almost forgot that you weren't you for a moment. Has everyone else transformed yet?"

On cue, Harry and Dante came out. Annie blinked multiple times to make sure she wasn't dreaming. Dante looked completely different, with messy brown hair, light olive skin, and blue eyes. She wasn't sure if she like his new transformation or not.

***(Young) Levi Miller as Ennio Montgomery***

"Bloody hell!" said Ron in amazement when he saw the rest of his friends. Annie noticed that his voice still sounded the same.

"We still sound like ourselves," she noted. "You need to sound more like Crabbe."

"Erm . . . . Bloody hell," Ron attempted in a much deeper, Crabbe-like voice.

Annie grinned almost devilishly at her brother. She was quite pleased with how heir plan was turning out so far.

"Excellent!"

"But where's Hermione?" Ron asked anxiously when he realized that the girl was not with them.

"I — I don't think that I'm going," Hermione answered. Dante went to the back stall where Hermione was. "You four go on without me."

"Hermione, are you okay?" Annie asked anxiously.

"Just go, guys!" Hermione insisted. "You're already wasting your time!"

Annie motioned for her brother and Ron to follow her. Annie fastened her Slytherin robe as they looked for the direction of the Slytherin common room.

"I think that the Slytherin common room is this way," she commented, pointing down a hallway opposite the Great Hall.

Ron nodded. They began to head down the corridor, only to be stopped by none other than the obnoxious rule-following Percy Weasley.

"Excuse me?"

Ron gasped audibly, freezing on the spot. Annie supposed that he had momentarily forgotten that he was in somebody else's body.

"What are you — I mean —" Annie elbowed him sharply in the ribs, getting him to force his voice to become more Crabbe-like. "What are you doing down here?"

Percy eyed them with suspicion, but he didn't question them. "I so happen to be school prefect. You, on the other hand, have no business to be wandering the corridors at this time of night." He gave them weird looks of confusion. "What are your names again?"

Annie began to panic as she began to answer them. Luckily, much to her unexpected relief, Malfoy had answered them.

"Crabbe! Goyle! Rose! Where have you been? Have you been pigging out in the Great Hall this entire time?"

Ron nodded hastily, trying to act the same way Crabbe would. Malfoy stared Ron down suspiciously before turning to Harry. Annie's stomach dropped when she realized that her brother still wore his glasses. His eyes narrowed in suspicion.

"Why are you wearing glasses?" he questioned.

"Oh!" Harry answered, hastily removing his glasses from his face. "I was — I was reading."

"Reading?" Malfoy echoed, confused, suspicious, and surprised. Harry nodded hastily in return. "I didn't know you could read." He turned to Percy. "And what are you doing down here, Weasley?"

"Mind your attitude, Malfoy," Percy spat in return. "You do realize that I have the right to put you in detention if you don't behave yourself, correct?"

Malfoy only scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Like I care. C'mon Crabbe, Goyle, Rose."

He led them to the Slytherin common room. Melly's insides squirmed uncomfortably with nerves. If Malfoy ever figured out that they were not the real Crabbe, Goyle, and Rose. . . . . they'd be in dead trouble for sure.

They stood around awkwardly as Malfoy took the entire couch in front of them. He noticed them standing there awkwardly and motioned for them to sit down.

"Well, sit down." They did as they were told. Melly tried hard to not look around the Slytherin common room in awe as Malfoy began talking. "The Weasley family is an embarrassment to the entire Wizarding World. All of them."

Ron clenched his fists, fuming. Malfoy noticed and narrowed his eyes suspiciously at him.

"What's up with you, Crabbe?"

Annie nudged Ron in the ribs, making him jump slightly in return.

"Stomach ache," he grunted in return.

"Y'know? I'm surprised that Professor Dumbledore hasn't reported these attacks to the Daily Prophet. I suppose that he's trying to hush them all up. Father has always told me that Dumbledore was the worst thing that could ever happen to Hogwarts —"

Before Annie could stop herself, she blurted out, "You're wrong!"

Everyone stared. Malfoy looked surprised. He then furrowed his eyebrows, rising slowly from his seat, advancing on Annie, who immediately shrank back into the leather seat in response.

"What?" he demanded loudly. "You think that there's someone here who's worse than Professor Dumbledore?"

"Erm . . . . Annie Potter?" Melly suggested quickly.

The scowl slowly turned into his signature smirk that Melly so desperately wanted to slap off.

"Good one, Rose," he finally answered, much to Annie's disappointed relief. "Saint Potter. And everyone thinks that she's actually the heir of Slytherin?"

Annie was surprised that Malfoy didn't accuse her of opening the Chamber of Secrets. But she knew that now was the right moment to ask the most important question that's been on her mind since the first attack.

"Then you must have some idea of what's going on," she insisted in Jezebel's voice.

"You know I don't, Rose," Malfoy answered, tossing a small present around in his hands. "How many times do I have to tell you? Is this yours?" Annie shook her head honestly, disappointed with their answer. Malfoy smirked and slipped the package in his pocket before leaning in towards the three friends. They leaned in as well, hoping to get an answer out of him. "But my father did say this. The last time the Chamber of Secrets had been opened, a Blood Traitor died. As for me, this time, I hope that it's Knightley."

That was it. Annie had enough. She forgot who she was and unexpectedly launched herself at Malfoy. He backed away, landing on the couch, staring in confusion and horror.

"What's the matter with you all? You're acting very . . . . odd."

"It's her stomach ache," Ron tried to reassure a confused Malfoy. "Look, calm down."

As Annie tried to calm herself, she noticed Ron's hair coming back. She gasped softly and mentioned Ron's hair to him. He noticed her nose transforming back to her normal nose shape. They grabbed and fled, with Malfoy calling after them.

When they got back to the bathroom, they had finally transformed back to themselves. They were lucky enough to not run into anyone along the way.

"Whew! We made it!" Harry huffed.

Annie banged on Hermione's door.

"Hermione? Come out! We have so much to tell you!"

They cleared themselves out of the way when Moaning Myrtle came out, looking happy and gloating about something. Harry opened the door but did not let them see Hermione.

"Wait until you see it," Myrtle gloated triumphantly. "It's awful."

"Hermione, are you okay? Harry, will you please move?"

Harry reluctantly moved to the side, pressing himself against the wood, showing Hermione with a cat's tail. They stared, horrified.

"Remember what I told you about the hair on Millicent Bulstrode's robes? It was cat hair that I plucked off. Look at my face."

"Look at your tail!" Ron laughed.

Myrtle cackled hysterically behind them.
