Revenges
Eight years ahead
Vin sat in his office, holding the paper that said the twins died in a car accident that was staged. Old enemies who wanted to target him but ended up targeting Jonaki and the twins again. The twins, both boys, were just a few months old.. they did not deserve this.
But his anger was unexpressed as he planned revenge. His earlier revenge on the people who had harmed Jonaki as a child involved her other friends in some shape and form. This one he chose to execute in a way that would destroy them the most. He also did not want Jonaki to know the murky secrets of the Kumar family. She was recovering from childloss. He would spare her this pain.
His aunt, his father's sister, was afterall a step sister. His grand mother was afterall a step grand mother. No doubt they always pushed father to ignore his business, his wife, his family. Pity he gave in to them. No doubt he had no voice and Mrs. Kumar tried but was a greedy women of power that she still believed would be his.
His revenge started exactly at seven in the morning. His aunt Rinrini stepped out of her home in a car that she called. Her business was affected for long, from the time that they asked Mrs. Kumar to move out of the associated businesses. Vin walked into their house and confronted her husband Mr. Jath. Quite a hero on other days, he was now suffering from depression as the wealth of the family deteriorated. He gave him an ultimatum.
"Uncle Jath.." he spoke with no smile and slightly raised brows ".. you know me and you know that I will do anything .. Your wife dared to hurt my wife and killed my children by ramming a rented car into the stationery car where she was waiting for the driver."
Uncle Jath stood up and kept staring at them. There was a genuine surprise at his face. It seemed not acting but more an ignorance, may be willful.
"When my driver came running the other car, while damaged was hitting the stationery one again.. but slowed down and turned and left. He managed to save my wife with minor injuries but the twins passed away. "
"This is not the first time. We spoke last time and you know I stopped with putting the criminals who harmed Jonaki in the jail. Well.. not exactly but that had involved the ex army men who also took revenge. You know your wife's name did not come out and she claimed she never wanted to harm but just frighten. "
Uncle Jath sat not moving. But a vien in his head started to beep.
"Either you call out what Aunty did to Police, let her face the jail sentence or I will bring the Police here on complaint of employing set of minors in your factory and then take it from there as they discover secret vaults of gold, wealth and other things."
Uncle Jath rose up panicking, "Let us speak. "
"You have exactly one hour to decide, post which I will act as I deem fit. Ofcourse if you go to the Police Station, I would not flash the news everywhere and leave you to manage the publicity."
He walked out. Opposite to where he had parked his hired car stood Amir and Naresh. He stopped and looked at them. Then he entered the car and drove off. The boys he noted similarly got on a uber which they may have hired and followed him to his hotel. He ate breakfast with them and they spoke of sports all the while looking at the time.
In one hour, Mr. Jath called. "Vinayak, I am calling from home. I need one day. It is against my basic belief to harm anyone for loss in business. Your aunt could not take the loss and may have acted against her basic morality. Give me one day."
Amir got up, ready to pick up a fight but Naresh watched Vin.
Vin nodded at Amir, "Let's wait."
The lobby changed and three friends of batch of 2025 sat talking of everything but Jonaki and the twins. Somewhere Vin mentioned, "I guess I should have joined the Section A too. "
Amir laughed and Naresh smirked, "As if the prince of the 2025 would have been allowed to be anywhere for Section Z. Anyways we would not have allowed you. We closed the batch with Sashi who I believe is now with your wife as you will be one day late to return."
Vin's spine straightened but he did not say anything. It was late and post endless cups of coffee, that the phone rang again. This time it was the police.
"Mr. Vinayak.. I am calling from the Kalin Bagh Police Station. Today evening your Aunt Mrs. Rinrini Jath met with an accident. She fell from the stairs and is in critical condition. Her husband also fell and is in hospital. He mentioned you are in the town. Can you come for a conversation as the only person to visit their house today was you. "
Vin's voice was steady as he spoke to the police and agreed to visit. Naresh followed but Amir declined, "I will stay here just to ensure no one does any smart stuff with your room and belongings. "
Vin knew they won't but then Amir was not exactly his friend. The Police Inspector was reserved and asked minimal questions and noted the statements in the file.
"Okay.. so Mr. Vinayal this was an ordinary visit to the city to meet the Uncle as he blamed you for his loss ? " The police officer noted the statement thinking that Mr. Jath had told almost the same thing barring mentioning t was his wife who was upset.
Rest he wanted to know his flight schedule which was changed to tomorrow mornings.
"Why did you change.. so you were waiting to meet your aunt too, but they did not call back?"
Then he nodded towards Vin, "That's all, you can go for now. If we need we may call you."
Vin drove to the hospital and asked for the patients. Mrs. Rinrini Jath has been declared dead on arrival and Mr. Jath was under observation. He had broken his ankle and hurt his head.
The case was closed as a genuine accident. Naresh kept his promise of not speaking of it. Amir had disappeared to some relative's home immediately after Vin's return. But Vin believed he would also not share with his wife.
An unease stayed in his heart, till he walked home to a tear filled Jonaki asking him, "Are you safe Vin, Vinayak, where did you disappear ? I called the friends. Sashi and Amir came immediately then Amir left saying he would bring you back. Did you meet him ? They also were not aware.. "
"Just some work dear.. It was confidential and I had to travel to the capital." His wife hugged him and cried. He gently ptatted her back.
"I can not lose you too. " She sobbed.
The slight doubt in his mind cleared. Yes.. they deserved what happened. How it happened or why was not for him to know.
Unknown to him, Amir visited the Hospital. He looked for the uncle and had a word for he had found out that the wife would not work without any knowledge of her husband. After he left, a visitor not noted, uncle had a heart attack. He survived.. to remember the day.
