Jonaki needed a residence as the hostel accommodated her till the results. But they did not give her a timeline when she requested for few days more. "Her medical ranking is the best. Let's allow her few more days. " Said the new Office in charge Poulami. Her voice was deeply accented but she was well known the school circle for being an excellent administrative manager. 

Mr. Richards was ofcourse different, but she was not bad either. As the school vacated of all old students and new ones came in, the top floor also became busy and Jonaki knew she could not stay anymore. Amir was visiting relatives abroad, Issac was travelling with his father to get his admission ready for a course, Sashi was representing the country in a chess tournament only Narain was home. He called her often and even invited her, one day asking, "So do you have a plan Jonaki ? Or you are waiting for Vin to do the plan ? " 

She did not want to accept that all her plans had ended with Vin's sudden disappearance. Mr. Richards was also absent so one fine morning she packed everything and started for the city Vin had indicated they would choose. She had almost no money, as she had recently handed over all her cash to Vin. But she did not want to ask her friends. 

As she stepped out of the hostel , Naresh came to meet her. 

"The guards called me. Vin had called me yesterday night. He had sent tickets to me, lets get you on the train. " 

"But why did Vin not call me ?" 

"Well the Police had not yet released him .. his family accused him of stealing funds. "

"No.." Jonaki stumbled. 

"Yes.. and dont ask me why he did not share with you. I guess he believed you should only know him as a winner. But his friends are assisting him. He would be out soon." 

"Which friends?"

"His friends from Section Z.. " 

"Was it Archana, Mihi .. Ashi?" 

"How did it matter Jonaki. You will meet him soon but prior to that he has arranged for a safe place for you to stay as he organised everything, till now. He is yours, dont worry. But he needs their clout to get out of this mess. " 

Naresh did not speak anymore but simply packed her into the train. His lack of ego and attitude, was something surprisingly refreshing, because she knew how much he was rising in popularity. He pulled his cap to shield his face and slipped on a sun glass. Yet some young children turned to look at his profile and called his name, "Naresh.. Naresh.. win the cup for us.." He stiffened and then turned to face the children and waved at them. 

The train left with a whistle and a sudden loneliness stuck her heart. Life would be different from the others.  She could almost feel her old orders falling away. Her friends who had always stood by her, were busy elsewhere. Yet Vin was in the Police custody and she could do nothing.  Suddenly something stuck her mind and she dialed Mrs. Kumar. Her voice was not stable when she picked up. 

"Yes Jonaki.. "it appeared she had been shaken by something. 

At the back ground someone was shouting, "You all stole everything from me and now you want to accuse my only child of threft ? I will burn the entire house to dust. "

She spoke into the phone, "If it is for Vin .. do not worry. He will be released. We would note it as a misunderstanding. " 

"Shut up.. " someone shouted on the phone. "What misunderstanding, he stole from our family as he is no longer a part of the family." Then there was a sound of striking someone's face. Mrs. Kumar's voice came , "Please. Calm down. Hitting me wont solve the issue." 

In the back ground, there were noise of things breaking. 

"Mother.. he is breaking all the expensive crystals. "

Jonaki asked in a cold voice, "Put me on speak Aunty. " 

Somehow, Mrs. Kumar put her on the speak. 

"Mrs. Rinrini.. I believe you are the one who accused Vin. If you do not stop now and withdraw everything.. " Jonaki paused, panting but hid the sound by muting herself. 

"What ? ?? Who is this speaking ? That orphan ?"

"Your friends fell down the slope of the hills that surround my house. " She said quietly. 

Suddenly there was a quiet pause. Other sounds continued, but Rinrini was quiet. 

"I believe the place they fell down, were noted as a place of cannibals. Some of them even are between us today.. You know the meaning of Cannibals Aunty Rinrini.. ?"

The phone was banged down. 

Jonaki sat in her seat and looked in the distance. Vin.. this is all I could do for you.. 

She dialed Narain. "Narain can you do me a favour and send to the house of the Kumar, the book on cannibals of the pleateau.. ? "

Narain asked, "Are you in the train now ? And trying to save Vin ? He would be fine Jonaki. He would be okay.. "

Jonaki did not let him finish, "Can you send the book ? Marked to her .."

Narain agreed with reluctance. 

The book reached the Kumar house hold soon and was handed over to Mrs. Rinrini. 

Vin was released that very night. But there came no call from him or message. Frantic Jonaki messaged him. And kept messaging. 

Till an unknown number called, " Jonaki this is Vin's father. I know you are anxious. He has just reached back home and would be in touch soon. I just got that message too. lets wait please without anxiety.."

As the train gathered its highest speed, Jonaki's phone stopped catching signal. Restless she closed her eyes. Her life, her medical degree and all inhibition forgotten, she just wanted to be with Vin. 

Mrs. Kumar called just when the train rolled into a station. 

"Jonaki , how are you ? Here all is well. Emergency is managed. Vin, Vinayak will be fine, the complaint is withdrawn, all a misunderstanding. Just think can an Aunt ever blame the nephew.  But where are you.. before you travel and join the university, spend some days with me.. ? No one else will be there."

"I am in the train Aunty. I do not think I will be able to meet you this time." 

"Yes, that is what I meant. I will pick you up from the station. I will reach earlier than you.. I took a chartered flight now." 

So as Jonaki landed in the station, it was not Vin who stood to welcome her but Mrs. Kumar. She gently pulled Jonaki by the hand to go to her hotel. The five star exterior was not too loud or too mellow, just right, balancing many themes together and creating an architectural wonder..but Jonaki was distracted. She followed Mrs. Kumar while looking for Vin everything. Then she stopped and said, "Sorry I have a hotel booking.. " Naresh had updated her.. Why did she forget. 

"Yes I know, but stay here for a few days with me. Stop worrying about Vin , he is all good just slightly busy.. " 

Mrs. Kumar took her to the checkin counter and as she was thinking of turning back, the main door opened and in walked Vin. Jonaki stopped on her tracks as tears filled her eyes. 

"What happened to Vin in these days.. ?"
