Chapter 4: High School Sucks? Tell Me Something I Don't Know
I exchanged my books in my locker. Today's 'Song's of the Hour' were still awesome as usual. I should be happy, but I'm not. Somehow since Erik arrived at my school, I've been getting easily annoyed or angry at him. But he always does that, obviously looking at my paper just to annoy me, trails of girls following him, hanging out with the football team, stuff like that. The weird thing is that every time I see him, my left shoulder tingles. That was where Erik accidentally shot me that arrow.
I heard someone heave out a sigh. I closed my locker and saw Erik leaning on some lockers.
My shoulder tingled. "What's wrong?"
"High school sucks." He said blankly, and started walking to his next class.
"You've just noticed?" I asked walking next to him, obviously my next class is the same as his.
He chuckled at that. "No, it's just I'm actually home-schooled."
"How come?"
"This is where everything starts." He spread out his hands. "First loves, crushes, make-ups, break up, love starts here."
"And why is this a problem? Shouldn't you be happy, this is where you can do you shooting arrows stuff."
"But that's the thing. I can't go ahead shooting around, people can see me, hello?"
"Oh."
Erik shuffled a bit. "Couple, two o' clock."
I looked and saw some cute couple talking to each other.
Erik nodded to another direction. "Break-up should be happening, ten o'clock."
I looked over and saw a couple arguing, something must happened.
His shoulder's slumped. "I'm itching for a shooting frenzy."
"Not something you hear everyday," I muttered.
"Maybe I can turn invisible around lunch, then...no that won't work."
"Why?"
"There will be probably some people who can still see me like you."
"So do you actually have it?"
"Have what?"
"Your bow and arrows?"
"Yeah." He opened his backpack. It was amazingly neat with only a notebook, composition book, a pencil and a gun.
"Why do you have a gun?!" I demanded.
Some kids looked at us. I sheepishly smiled and led him to the recording room.
He looked around. "This is cool."
"Once again, why do you have a gun?!"
"Don't you remember? This is my modern weapon, I only go old school at Valentine's Day, or when specially requested."
"Specially requested?"
"There are some people who sometimes wish for some hope about love. That's when either my dad or I pop in."
"But why do you have to carry your gun? What if someone looks in your backpack?"
"I always have to carry it with me, if it were to be lost or someone stolen it..." He paused at that.
"What happens?"
"The thought itself is scary."
"Why?"
"Everything goes wrong, love just stops. It'll be as if life is not worth living, because love is not in it."
"It can't really be that bad..."
"What are you saying, Juliette? Imagine, there is no love in the world. Every where there is hate, no world peace, love is more than some silly word, y'know."
Love has something to do with world peace, he's just bluffing. "Whatever, but you should do something about the gun, and I'm worried that you'll can't take it anymore and start shooting."
"Well, I could..."
"Can you change it to another form?"
"It has a key chain form."
"Seriously, a key chain form?"
He shrugged.
"Fine, and let me hold it."
He pulled out the gun, and I stepped away from it's direction. It shifted and turned to a cute golden key chain of an arrow about to be shot with a bow. He handed it to me without batting an eye, I was a little surprised that he's freely hold his 'symbol of power.'
"I trust you," he said as if he was reading my mind.
"Thanks." I hooked the key chain to my belt strap.
He sighed with relief. "I feel a bit better now."
I grabbed the doorknob, "We should go or we'll be late to-"
Erik slammed the door and leaned behind me. "How come? We're alone in this room. "
I turned around and gulped. Erik's sky blue eyes stared at me. "W-what?"
"I don't think the teacher will notice his once, don't you think?"
I gritted my teeth, "I'll give you 10 seconds to back away before I knee you in the royal jewels."
Erik burst out laughing. "Royal jewels? Oh how innocent you are, Juliette!"
"Excuse me?"
He calmed down a bit. "You know I'll never do such a thing, that action never ends well."
"Well you're right about that."
I stomped on his foot and slammed the door behind me. I heard Erik's screams of apologies and protests as I locked the door with my spare key. Maybe if he's lucky enough, the janitor will let him out.
I was right, boys never change.
"So I heard that that boy who dropped you home joined your school."
I gulped, "How did you know?"
"He's quite a conversation starter when me and the girls talk."
When she means 'me and the girls' she means all of my friends moms, they're all really close.
"Yeah, and..."
"I precisely remember you telling me that you bump into him at school. Now riddle me this, how can he bump into you at school, then join that school a day later?"
"Er..."
"Juliette..."
"Okay mom, I'm sorry. I was scared that you'll kill me letting a total stranger walk me home."
"Juliette, I won't care if that 'total stanger' joined us to dinner."
"Huh?"
"He's seems like a very nice young man, especially from the comments the other moms have been telling me."
"Oh."
"What I really want is for you to get to know him more, I want you to hang out with a someone like-"
"Mom, I have to stop you right there."
"How come?"
"I don't date okay? Shouldn't you be the one stopping me? If I was an entirely different girl, I would be behind some older guy on a motorcycle."
"What about Drew? You've known him since you were 5 years old."
"No, I don't see him like that."
"I just think you should try to date once in a while."
"But mom..."
"Juliette, just because your father broke my heart doesn't mean you should shield yours from the world."
"You promise we'll never talk about him," I muttered.
"We both know this all connected to your father. You were never the same ever since the divorce, but-"
"Mom stop it! I don't want about dad anymore, okay?"
She sighed. "Okay, okay."
I got up from my chair. "I'm done eating, night."
I walked to my room and slammed the door behind me. Telling her that we'll never speak of this again.
I plopped down to bed. That's the last thing thing I'll ever talk about, he's the last person I'll talk to, my dad. That's my true story, sure, I really do want to finsh school. But my dad is the main reason why I don't date. That's why I don't believe in love at first sight and all that stuff Phoebe believes in. It's all fake, that stuff only happens in romance novels and chick flicks. Thankfully, none of my friends put 2 and 2 together for my hatred in love. I always talk about my life plan to them, and they just thought that's the reason.
I choked back a sob, my dad was always a touchy subject. And don't even get me started on father's day. I remember in elementary school when everyone were making father's day cards, everyone except me. I bit my lip to stop myself from trembling, stupid memories. Ever since the divorce, that's how she says it even after 8 years. Divorce, pfft, affair seems to fit the description.
I shook my head, I promised myself I'll never think about this again. But I'll have to say this: I'll never change my opinion about love, even if a certain God of Love kills me.

School sucks, yeah you got that right Erik. I finished 2 of the 3 projects I have left. All I need to start is my science project, about dolphin evolution. But I'll soooo ace, *sly grin*.
How do you like this chapter? Barely finished today 'cause of SCHOOL!
Food: Went to Burger King with mwah (Me in French, I think. Too lazy to look it up) 2 friends, so pretty full from the #5 meal. One of them owes mwah $1.95 from the day before in Starbucks, Bought him a warm butter croissant, he'd better be thankful I don't put in interest. *Evil laugh*
Music: I love love love Pitch Perfect. I finally got the cup thingy and the song 'Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone' sung by Anna Kendrik.
I've got my ticket for long way 'round
Two bottles of whiskey for the way
And I sure would like some sweet company
and I'm leaving tomorrow, whatdya say?
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me everywhere
And I know you're gonna miss me when I'm gone
I've got my ticket for the long way 'round
The one with the prettiest view
It's got mountains, it's got rivers
It's got sights to give you shivers
But it sure would be prettier with you
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me everywhere
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me by my talk
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
I also got the song S&M by Rihanna and Britney Spears when they sung it during the riff-off. I know it's a 'Say whaaaaa?' song but it's catchy so *shrug*
Movie: I rented the movie 'The Meddalion' starring none other than JACKIE CHAN!!! He's awesome, and funny when he fights. Very resourceful, I like his other movies. And he voices Monkey in Kung Fu Panda, love that movie by the way. Have the song, 'Kung Fu Fighting' in my iPod.
Thx for reading this chapter and my author's note. VOMMENT, RubixCube89201 out!
