24- Queen of Loopholes

Two days and Swara had gotten into the routine of her new job. First she helped Selena a bit to get ready for the readers and then got ample time to focus on her writing. Well more of sorting her notes, so she could move forward.

Honestly, Swara worked on her story more than she worked for the library. But it didn't seem like her boss had any problem with that. Selena was more than happy to accommodate her. As long as Swara wrote, Selena was ready to do anything.

Swara bit her nails, thinking about what to do and how to proceed. Three parts to cure the curse were already covered. Two more were left. What would they be? How will they help the library? What would be their peculiarities? And how would Selena find them?

'I don't think I need to worry about the last part," Swara nodded to herself. Selena had a track of earning them on her own by hook or crook, without even knowing about it.

The Glowing pen, The books with no title and The Readers- she had managed to achieve them all.

However, the troublesome part of it was that whenever she found the cure, there was always something majorly going wrong.

The library quakes, the pens down movement, Naman falling sick, the list went on and on. Selena's every achievement was aligned with a mishap. Swara feared what horror the last two parts of cure would bring along with them.

"Please don't let anything go wrong now," Swara prayed, before shaking her head, "No, No, I can't leave it up to fate."

She then decided to take things in her own hand. "No matter what the last two cures are, they won't cause harm to anyone."

Swara held her breath, waiting to see if the diary stroke through her content. She exhaled loudly in relief when nothing happened. However that didn't mean she could rest in peace, the diary had a knack of finding loopholes and working around her words.

But Selena had that talent as well. She too knew how to figure out the loopholes from the absurd rules of the library. If the diary was smart, then Selena was smarter. The only thing she lacked was the knowledge of the outer world, which the male lead would soon help her with.

Swara smiled as she wrote down the next lines.

Their core personalities were entirely different, but both of them were pure hearted. They would complete each other as one's weakness was another's strength.

"They will be stronger together. They need to always have each other's back," Swara spoke to herself. For that they needed to build trust. The one that couldn't be broken by anyone or anything.

She had originally planned for them to go through some struggles together. The mixes and clashes of their personalities would have added fun and excitement in the middle of a tragic situation. And after lots of trials and fights, this would have eventually led to a foundation of unbreakable trust.

'I can't do that now,' Swara sighed, rubbing her face tiredly.

Making the story interesting was a goal that was long forgotten. Because her story wasn't just a story anymore. She couldn't deliberately put obstacles in Selena's life.

"But how will they form that bond without going through anything?" Swara thought out loud.

"Is it really necessary for something bad to happen for two people to come together?" Amaya asked, having heard the last question as she arrived.

She had ended up coming a bit early today, only to find Swara sitting on her usual spot.

"Umm...," Swara trailed off, startled by the presence of a stranger.

"Sorry for interrupting, but I couldn't help but speak up when I heard your question. But now that I think about it, I shouldn't have. I mean I don't even know what the story is about." Amaya apologized for being rude, before looking around for a new seat. Far away from the author she had disturbed. Amaya just hoped that the author didn't end up complaining about her. She didn't want to get thrown out of the library.

"No, no, it's fine. Please continue what you were saying," Swara urged, wanting to know her point of view.

It might or might not work for her, but there's no harm in hearing what the other person thought.

Amaya sat down beside her, happy to convey her thoughts.

"Just that I thought that a couple can be a couple without having to fight with the world. You don't have to have major problems. You like them, you trust them, simple. A bond can be created out of happiness as well right?"

"Out of happiness?" Swara questioned, as thoughts started twirling in her mind.

"A Happy story doesn't have to be a boring story. They can have cute and funny banters. It will be interesting to read," Amaya said.

"Fighting for window seats, having to watch a boring movie because your partner likes them, eating the leftover food your partner couldn't finish. Making sure the other one is safe while walking on the road, etc etc," Amaya listed the things off, her mind drifting off to a certain someone, who made her bitter life sweeter.

"Making fun of each other's weird quirks and eventually ending up with the same habits after living with them for so long," Swara added, her mind rolling with other ideas.

"Bingo." Amaya raised her hand for a high-five.

Swara couldn't use the list the stranger had presented as most of them were not possible due to library's rules. But still she got the gist. And knew how to turn it according to their situation.

"A Sweet story," Swara breathed out. "A Happy, cute and sweet story," she declared, before her fingers started her magic.

"Anddd that's my cue to leave," Amaya said with a laugh, before moving to find her favourite librarian.

Swara created the outline for the main lead, but left some parts unexplored so that they could fulfill it on their own as they liked.

She had seen Naman being relieved to know that the bond he had created with Selena was genuine. It was right then, she knew that she had to create space for Selena to genuinely form the bond with the male lead. But she had to make sure that it didn't interrupt the flow of the story.

"What right do I have to select a life partner for Selena? Where is Selena's free will in that?" Swara mumbled to herself, happiness in her eyes dimming as the thought crossed her mind.

What if Selena didn't want it to happen? What right did Swara have to force feelings on them?

"The same right that God has on you," Naman said as he came to sit beside her. He had stayed back after delivering books.

"I am not God," Swara muttered, lightly banging her head on the table.

"Yeah, but you are the one who created her. She wouldn't be here without you. And about her free will. If you want to think about that, then it goes way beyond the life partner part."

"What do you mean?"

"Her entire personality is written by you, Swara. The way she thinks, her quirks, her flaws; nothing is her own. Where was her free will in all that?"

"I know...but," Swara looked down at her hands, feeling guilty.

"It is what it is. Whether you like it or not, you are the one who moves our lives. You have to, or else the diary would. And I don't even want to think what would happen then," Naman said, shuddering in horror.

Naman sighed seeing Swara look even more troubled than before. Naman's words had hit right at home. He had to try another approach.

"Anyways it's Selena we are talking about. If she doesn't want what you have written, then she will go ahead and defy all the odds to change that. She would never succumb to reality just like that. She will give it a tough fight. She is a rebel with a cause. You know it. After all, you have made her like that."

"A Queen in finding loopholes." Swara uttered, looking finally satisfied.

She thanked Naman gratefully. Not only did he helped her get out of her overthinking, he also ended up giving her bestest idea possible.

She knew the fact, but it needed Naman's reminder to make it concrete in the story.

Swara immediately penned down the fact with the glowing pen, making it loud and clear that Selena could always find a way to fight her destiny anytime she willed for it.
