- Look At The Fire Burn -
Horror walked into the house. "Hey, guys. Ink needs us."
Cross and Killer paused their video game while Dust looked over from the fridge. He closed the door so that the food inside wouldn't perish. "Right now? Really? And I was just about to crack open a soda and keep watching Cross beat Killer's #ss!"
"I don't understand, how can you still play with only one arm??" Killer growled at Cross, which smiled victoriously.
"Well, let's see, my secret is that I go against the sh#ttiest player in existence. His name is Killer, by the way."
Horror waved their attention back to him before Killer could stab Cross. "He says he found Nightmare."
"Cool. Let's go guys." Dust hollered to the two on the sofa before strolling out with a can of soda.
~~~
"So, what's happening?"
Ink and the others turned when they heard Killer's voice. Dream shifted a little uncomfortably as he finished peeking from the bushes. "Well, we found my brother."
"Great, let's go then-" Dust said, ready to walk out before Ink chimed in.
"He's with Error, too."
They all paused.
Besides Nightmare, Error is the only other one which declined this kind of lifestyle. It wasn't really all that surprising though, since Swap claimed that Error does have a 'few screws loose'. Despite that, he's a formidable foe, both in combat and video games.
"So? We can just zip in there, snatch Night, then zip back out. No big deal." Killer shrugged.
"They're blowing up a orphanage." Dream hesitantly added.
That caught the group's attention. They all looked over and watched as the two deranged idiots lit up a orphanage.
"What the heck-" Cross quietly mumbled as he stared.
"We should probably stop them." Dust blurted.
They all mumbled in agreement.
Yet not one of the former evil sanses lifted a finger, watching as Error and Nightmare looked to be having a really awesome time. Instead, the star sanses shot forward to stop the chaos, meeting Error and Nightmare in the middle of their destruction.
"SeE? ThEY SHOwed uP LiKe I SAId." Error laughed, looking to their foes.
"So, Dream, where are my former allies?" Nightmare asked curiously, taking a brief moment to stop setting fire to the building. "Did you get bored of them and dispose them? Or you didn't want to bring them in case they 'defected' from the high road."
Dream frowned. "Nightmare, please. I'm trying to give you a chance to come with us-"
"I thOUGht," Error interjected, dropping right in front of Dream and binding him with his strings. "ThaT THe mAN alREaDY SaID No." With a tug of his hand, the strings squeezed, causing Dream to cry out in pain. Swap jumped in to help Dream but was suddenly swept off of his feet by a wandering tentacle and thrown across the yard. Ink stepped in and severed the strings quickly before splashing some color into Error's face. The dark skeleton let out a loud yelp and blindly flicked his strings in a direction, snagging Ink's scarf. With a crack of his strings, Ink was sent flying into the burning building.
"Wow, that was awesome!" Nightmare exclaimed, smiling.
"SEe? We'RE HAvIng fUn-" Error laughed before getting a star rod shoved at his chest, knocking him into the building with Ink. As soon as Error tumbled in, the building's entry way collapsed, trapping the two inside its fiery walls.
"DREAM, WHAT THE HELL!" Nightmare yelled before his brother turned to him, unrelenting fury in his gaze.
"YOU'RE 'WHAT THE HELLING' ME? YOU TORE OFF YOUR FRIEND'S ARM! YOU'RE BURNING AN ORPHANAGE! YOU-" Dream's rage spilled out in large waves, completely taking Nightmare by surprise. Even though what Dream had already said struck him too personally for comfort, Nightmare couldn't even prepare for what he was about to yell next. "YOU IMPRISONED ME IN STONE FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS AND LEFT ME TO ROT IN DARKNESS!!! YOU MURDERED OUR PEOPLE IN COLD BLOOD AND DUST!!!! YOU LEFT ME ALONE TO PROTECT THE WHOLE UNIVERSE WHEN I- I NEEDED YOU THE MOST!!! YOU'RE 'WHAT-THE-HELLING' ME? I SHOULD BE 'WHAT-THE-HELLING' YOU!!" Dream sucked in a few breaths before his eye-lights flickered and his expression crumbled into sad regret.
Nightmare stared.
He couldn't move.
The emotions Dream was giving off were massive, like a tsunami of negative emotions. They were so powerful that it almost drowned him.
Almost.
Nonetheless, Nightmare couldn't even breathe.
Tears slipped down Dream's eye-sockets. "Come home, brother. Please."
The gang watched from the bushes as Nightmare lifted a hand before quietly putting it down. They saw something. A brief flash of a kind person; the person Nightmare used to be.
But it was gone as fast as it came.
A unrecognizable voice escaped Nightmare's mouth as his eye-light blazed a eye-catching blue.
"You fueled the wrong fire, my friend."
