Every now and then, it seemed,

Edward's head outgrew his body.

'Big-headed', 'full of himself', 'over-inflated ego' —

Dad had the answer without fail.

A trip to the Mammoth Falls of Middleopia,

stand close to power huge,

voices drowned by the roar,

fear clutching bravest hearts...

what if an extra surge came down?

"You think you know awesome?" Dad shouted.

"Big man now, huh? Think again, sonny boy."

He picked up a well-travelled, rounded stone.

"After you've navigated the waterfall called Life,

you'll lose your sharp edges too.

Forget 'hot' and 'cool' —

you will be smooth, son. Smooth!"
