Water churns around the blonde girl as it configures itself into her veins. It fills her lungs, dragging her down to the depths of the water. The youngest Maybank twin entered the water interlaced with her best friend, only one girl crawled out.

She crawled out of the water without her best friend. She had been attached to the Maybanks since she was six. Crimson flowed out of her knee, as she landed on the concrete. She was shoved hard by some sticky baby toothed boy on the playground. She landed hard on the sidewalk, a crying mess as blood dripped down her knees.The Maybank girl watched the scene is anger, she couldn't understand how someone can be mean to her, especially since the girl was the only person who smiled at her as she arrived to school with a bruise lining her upper check.

So she walked up to the boy, sending a quick punch in the face sending him crying. Her brother right behind placing a bandaid on the crying girl's knee.

It was in that moment she became intertwined with the Maybanks. The two girls were consumed with giggles, secrets, laced pinkies, and a warmth that filled their bones. The youngest Maybank was something she cherished with her whole heart. Where there was the Maybank twins, there's was her. JJ Maybank couldn't think of a time where there wasn't his sister's best friend.

To him, she was the sun, golden lit within her veins, seeping out of her, so much that when her hands touched his harsh bruised skin or when his hand held tightly to her shaking blood stained ones, he could taste it. He was addicted to the taste of the sun.

When JJ Maybank loved he loved with every deepest part of him, teeth & all.  He sunk his teeth into her, and the blood of her stained his teeth red. With her whiskey eyes & her heaven smile, she was torn open for JJ. And boy did he love her with everything he had. You could pry him open and peer into him & you would find remains of her. She was sewn onto his heart. Her initials were marked into the tortured flesh of his heart.

Then he fell. JJ Maybank plummeted from the sky, the sun still brushing his fingertips before he landed in the sea. His sister was dead, and the corner of his heart meant for love drowned with her. His words bit into the soft flesh of the sun he once loved, as his yells burn into her. The rage of his father seeped into the people he loved.

She wasn't his anymore and he struggled, his limbs bound by sunbeams. Falling is the easy part. Now JJ Maybank has to learn to live without the sun.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

✴︎ I've finally posted it. My revised JJ Maybank fic. I love them sooo much. Sol & JJ are my favorites. The amount of angst in this book is insane....so i'm sorry. Sol is best friends with Juniper (JJ's twin sister) since they were little. JJ been in love with Sol since forever, they both are in love with each other. One night Sol shows up not remembering what happened to her & Juniper Maybank is missing. A lot of the times you might not understand why JJ & Sol aren't together but it's cause they have a lot of trauma to work through.

✴︎ All the outerbanks characters are aged up to adults. It didn't make sense to me that all this stuff happens when they are teenagers & it didn't make sense with my story. It's the summer they graduate high school & are freshly adults. If some plot points don't make sense just ignore it :) Also I gatekeep, trademark, take ownership of Jessie Jewel (JJ), It took me forever to create & I love the name.
