Chapter ll: What Would Killing yourself do to her?
*Nathaniel POV*
Azriel was now packing her bag rather loudly to make sure that her father and I knew that she did not want to be doing it. Actually, she said that she would rather be doing 'literally' anything but packing her bag to go to a 'pretentious school with a bunch of crazy brits'. Why does she think we are all crazy? That seems quite absurd that she truly believes whatever unfounded stereotype is running through her brain. If anything she is the crazy one. Why would one believe a stereotype about a whole group of people? You do not see me running away because she could possibly be the death of all witches far and wide. But nooooo she wants to call me crazy. But as mother said I must not let her know about that part of the prophecy.
"How much clothes would I have to pack? How much time do I have to pack? I don't even have time to take any of my books," Azriel groaned.
This girl was seriously going to be the death of me or I was going to be the death of her. I have met many Americans but none are as annoying as she is. She just makes me want to rip my head off. Now Nathaniel what would mother say, 'What would killing yourself do to her?' is probably what mother would say. It would do nothing to her except maybe gross her out. Maybe it could traumatize her for the rest of her life. Or even better yet I could haunt her for the rest of her days. Oh, yes I like the idea of that much more.
"Helloooo. Is anybody there? When is our flight? And can I bring my books?" Azriel said interrupting my thoughts.
"It is tomorrow evening at 6:15," I replied with a sigh.
Does the little bi—I mean witch ever shut up? Is she honestly bitching to me about not being able to bring her books? BOOKS?!?! Of all things to so desperately want, she chooses to want books.
"You do not need to pack your books because there is a spell for that."
"Then why do I have to pack my clothes?"
Was she not listening to me when I explicitly told her she only had to pack a carry-on bag of essentials and that her stuff would be in her room by the time we arrived or did it fly over her head as everything else probably does.
"You only have to pack a carry-on because the rest of your stuff that you deem important will be there by the time you get to the school. Understood." I said my tone only slightly conveying my anger and annoyance.
How did her parents put up with her for 16 years? I would have ended it a long time ago. I do not think I would have been able to last having to hear her insufferable voice every single day.
"Well, I have to go now. I will come back tomorrow at 2:15 so we can beat the New York traffic and get to our flight on time."
"Where are you going?" the annoying little soul-sucking demon said.
"I am going to my hotel. Do you have a problem with that?" I replied.
"No, I was just wondering because you still seem sketchy to me. That's all. You can leave now and don't slam any of my doors." said the ankle biter.
How can we put all our faith and resources into someone who has not one clue about the world of witchcraft? Someone whose own mother did not even trust them with knowing about their own past and lineage. "Bloody twat!" I groaned as another one of these sodding Americans bumped into me for what feels like the thousandth time. Why did mother send me to this God-awful place to escort that even more God-awful little person?
*Azriel's POV*
What would this new school be like? WAIT!!! Madeline and Valerie! I can't leave and not tell them. What would they say if they found out I was a witch and the supposed chosen one? And why the hell did I get stuck with the grumpiest escort they had? Was it because of something my mother did that was now coming back to bite me?
I picked up my phone and called Valerie and she didn't answer. I then called Madeline who answered on the second ring.
Mob
"HIIII, WHOOOORE!!!!," yelled the tall red-head.
"Hi, bitch. How've you been? Also, did I tell you how pretty you looked today in school? Ryan couldn't even take his eyes off of you so I guess your plan worked," I said trying to soften the blow of having to tell my best friend of 14 years that I am moving away indefinitely.
"I've been good. And Ryan and I have decided to take it slow this time. Listen here little missy don't think I'm just gonna forget that the hot new kid took you home today. SO SPILL," my best friend squealed.
"It was nothing, really. Actually, he's who I wanted to talk to you about. He knew my mom and he wants me to go with him to this school in London," I said in one breathe to make sure I got everything out without any interruptions from my best friend.
It was quiet on the other line for what felt like forever but was probably only 30 seconds.
"You're leaving us?!?!?" Madeline shrieked.
"I'll still be able to visit and we can facetime every day. Well, maybe not all the time because of different timezones and stuff like that."
"You're not joking. You're actually serious huh."
"Yea but I don't want to go," I replied honestly.
"Then don't go. It's really that simple," my best friend pleaded.
"Well, it's not that simple. My mom wanted me to go to the school because that's where she went and that's what she wanted for me."
"Geez dude, does Valerie know?"
"No, because she's probably sleeping or watching anime. I tried calling her first—"
"YOU CALLED VALERIE BEFORE YOU CALLED ME?!?!?"
"Well I knew she probably wouldn't answer and you always answer so I called her first just so I can be able to say that I called her and she didn't answer," I said trying to make her see reason.
Thankfully she did and then she just said "Oh. Maybe you should call her and tell her." "Ok", I said, and then she hung up.
I decided to not waste any more time and finish packing my carry-on before Sir Grumps a lot comes back and bites my head off. What is his problem anyway? Shows up in my life unexpectedly with his annoying self and his annoying dumb face. What is he on his period or something? He doesn't even know me and he has already made up his mind about me. Who in their right mind would send a 17-year-old boy almost 4000 miles away without any supervision? Especially if that boy is Nathaniel.
*Nathaniel POV*
"Make sure that nobody harms a hair on her head. Not even you. Am I understood, young man?"
"Yes, mum."
"I said am I understood, young man?"
"Yes you are understood mother, I will not hurt her nor will I allow anybody else to hurt her."
"Good, I shall call you tomorrow to make sure that you two are on time to the airport and William will be there to pick you both up."
"Ok goodbye mother," I said but she had already hung up.
