Chapter III
vision blurs
"No. He was just so clumsy, and I happened to stumble in front of him sometimes." The person sitting in front of the mirror tried to reason with his reflection. The image in the mirror looked as if he just heard the most hilarious joke ever. Kairos groaned exasperatedly for being like this to someone whose face isn't even clear in his mind.
The sudden sound of the phone ringing startled him. Skin crawled in fear as he flew to grab the phone, answering the call without seeing the caller ID.
"Yes?" Kairos breathed out, clearing his throat to get his voice back to normal.
"Were you doing something?" A teasing voice answered back. A scoff accompanied the rolling of his eyes at the antics of the teasing voice.
"I was. What do you want?" He replied and waited for the person on the other end's demand. Kairos started to clean the room to get rid of the intruding embarrassing thoughts. A coping mechanism.
"Aren't you going to the meetup today." the voice sounded muffled and shuffling resounding through the call, "...we want you here. Please show us your face!" the voice was more clear now, which meant he moved from wherever he was before.
"Why? It's my day off today." Was the blunt reply.
"Why...why? We need you. Everyone's coming. See you later." The person said in one breath, and soon the beeping of the end call sounded in his ear. He didn't even get a chance to be rejected.
Sighing, he flopped on the bed, groaning into his pillows to muffle the annoyance wafting off him. That bastard, Johnson!
"Oh, there you are!"
"Hurry!"
"Sit here."
Loud noises pierced his ears as soon as he stepped into the small bar. The stench of alcohol invaded his nose.
"It will be a long night." He thought as he slid down beside his high school classmates, smiling.
It was still in my alcohol-induced mind when I saw him for the third time. The time when I finally got his identity. And a clear look at his face.
