Chapter 11: Fairies, Faeries and FBI Skills
I mentally did a happy dance when I opened my eyes on Sunday afternoon. What better way to start the holiday by waking up in the noon and all I needed to complete the day was some junk food, Netflix and maybe some more sleep.
There's nothing like too much sleeping. Especially on Sundays.
I contemplated getting up from my cosy bed or staying in and sleeping some more but my stomach growled in protest. I patted my stomach affectionately.
"Don't worry. I'll feed you even of it's the last thing I do." And with that I climbed out of bed and dragged my feet to our small living room where I could smell food.
I found Mel there sleepily eating cup of Ramen. I stumbled towards her and snatched the cup out of her hand and took a big bite.
"Hey! That's mine!" She yelled at me.
I stuck my tongue out and dropped on the couch, all the while munching on the noodles.
God bless whoever invented cup Ramen.
"Where's Ellie?" I asked once I finished and eyed the second cup of noodles she held tightly in her hands.
She held it protectively to her chest and narrowed her eyes at me.
"She has gone to buy something and after that she needs to go to her guitar class," Mel explained. "Unlike us she actually does something productive on Sundays."
I yawned and waved my hand dismissively while rubbing my eyes. I picked up the remote and clicked on Netflix. We both decided to have a To All The Boys marathon.
We enjoyed the books very much and the movies were good too but I think the reason we both liked it was because it was a very light romance. It was one of the movies we watch when things got a little hectic.
We were on the second movies when the loud blaring of someone's phone interrupted us.
"Mel go take your phone or I swear to God, I'm going to throw it out of the window. " I groaned.
"I should say that, you dimwit considering it's your phone," she mocked "Geez. You put my idiotic brother to shame."
I flipped her off as I walked to my room and answered the phone without looking at the contact number.
"Hey honey, I'm calling from Book Havens and I just wanted to inform you that we just received the books you asked for. If you are free today you can come and collect it."
I . LOVE . SUNDAYS.
"Thank you soo much for informing me. I'll be there in an hour. " I said enthusiastically and cut the call but not before thanking her once again.
I quickly put on a random band shirt and pulled on my black jeans and roughly put my hair in a messy bun. I took my bag and went to the living room to tell Mel to join me but I found her passed out on the couch, snoring away like a faulty tractor.
And me being the amazing best friend, wrote her a note to tell her where I went and almost rushed out when an idea struck me.
I laughed evilly and tiptoed to the kitchen and grabbed a can of whipped cream and silently kneeled in front of her. I almost abandoned my plan when she snored more loudly. I swear my ears were going to bleed.
I sprayed a huge mountain of whipped cream on her outstretched palm.
Cliche, I know but hey they were cliches for a reason. Moreover this one was a classic and classics are always gold.
I grinned and made my way out of the dorm with a bounce to my steps. This day cannot get any better.
"Going somewhere, love?" A husky voice whispered in my ears and I stiffened. Only one person had this effect on me and I slowly turned already knowing who it will be.
And there he stood, his head slightly tilted and his lips twitching into a ghost of a smile.
I stared at him and my eyes involuntarily went to his left hand where the bandages had been wrapped but again it was hidden by the sleeves of his black ripped denim jacket.
He waved his hands in front of my face, snapping me out of my trance.
"Oh! I'm going to a bookstore. What are you doing here, Angel boy?"
He raised a brow at the name and playfully glared at me.
Hot. Stop.
He has really nice eyebrows.
"Which one?"
I wonder if he shapes them.
"Hmm? Book Havens...." I blurted, still staring at his brows.
"Okay. Get in." He said and shoved a helmet towards me.
"What?"
He mumbled something under his breath and pulled me towards his motorbike.
"Come on, I'm taking you there." He repeated slowly as if he was talking to a toddler.
But I don't even know him that well. What if he takes me to an abandoned warehouse and slits my throat? What if he imprisons me? Oh my God what if he drowns me?!
"I'm not going to kill you,Raps." He stated, his eyes flashing with amusement.
"How did you know?!" I blurted.
"I just know you. Now get on."
"Why would I?"
"Because you, my love, are lazy. Imagine if you don't take up my offer, you'll have to walk to the bus stop which will take about ten minutes then you have to wait for the bus and after that you'll have to walk to the bookstore too. But if you come with me, you don't have to walk or do any sort of exercise. And you can also use that ticket fare to buy another book. Now you coming or not?" He asked with a little smirk.
That's a very good point. Especially the walking part and he does not look like the psychotic type. Eh, if he turns out to be also I'll just kick his sexy ass with my non existent FBI skills.
"Yes."
He grinned at me smugly and climbed on his bike, excitedly patting th seat behind him.
Sigh. He was too adorable for his own good.
I climbed up behind him and held the sides of his jacket tightly in my hands. The motorbike shot out with a jump and my face collided with his back. I wrapped my hands tightly around his waist and glared at his head.
My eyes fell on the mirror and my heart melted when I saw him biting his lips to hide his grin.
He quickly shook his head and rode the bike forward, this time like a normal person.
We soon reached the bookstore and I excitedly jumped off the bike with a wild grin on my face.
"Are you coming in?" I asked Azrael
"Ya sur-" he was cut off when his phone rang.
"I'll have to take this, it's from the hospital. Why don't you go in and buy whatever you need. I'll wait here."
"Okie." And with that I skipped inside.
"Good evening!" I greeted the sweet lady standing behind the counter.
"Good evening, honey. You can go and find your book under the fantasy romane genre. "
I quickly took the book and payed for it, not wanting to make Rael wait and made my way out after thanking her.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw his casually leaning against his bike. He was reading something on his phone which gave me a wonderful view of his sharp jawline, he did look sinfully handsome in his black turtleneck and the multiple silver rings that adorned his long, slender fingers glistened in the sunlight.
I snapped my eyes away from him when I realised I had been staring for more than a minute and walked towards him with a smile on my face.
He looked up and gave me a beautiful smile.
He should really consider doing a Colgate ad or something.
"Did you get everything?" He asked.
"Yep. I got this new book."
"That's great. Get on, I'm taking you somewhere."
"Okay. I hope you don't kill me and just so you known I have a can of pepper spray and a knife in my bag. I'm also trained in physical combats."
He snorted. "Ok, then you can protect me if someone decides to assault us."
I nodded my head seriously and climbed on.
"Don't worry. I'll protect you." I said with a pat on his shoulder.
He shook his head and wrapped my hands around his waist.
Twenty minutes later we were both sitting comfortably in a small, cosy cafe. It was quite peaceful as it was away from the traffic. Some people we quietly reading some books, some working on laptops and some simply enjoying a cup of hot coffee and cakes. I loved it.
"I figured you'll like this place and the coffee and cakes here are amazing." He said.
"It's wonderful. How did you find it?"
"Well, let's just say I don't really know how to follow the GPS..." he said with a small embarassed laugh.
I smiled.
"Hey, are you guys ready to order?" A young waiter asked.
"Sure. I'll have a dark chocolate fudge cake and a black coffee." And then looked at me, waiting for me to order.
"Do you have white chocolate mud cake?" I asked
"Yes, we do."
"Okay, then I'll have that and a hazelnut latte please "
The waiter nodded and went away with our order.
"You like White chocolate?" Azrael asked curiously.
"Yeah I love it. I honestly like all kinds of chocolate but white chocolate is the best, my parents say I'm addicted to it. " I said with a light laugh, ignoring how my heart clenched a bit.
"How are your parents doing? And your brother?"
"They're doing fine. Wait, how do you know I have a brother?" I asked suspiciously.
"You did your research on me and I did yours too" he shrugged as if he didn't just admit to stalking me.
It's true though. I did stalk him meticulously.
"Fair I guess. What about yours?"
"Good. How old is your brother?"
"Are we playing twenty questions now or something?" I teased
"Just want to make sure I'm not sitting with a serial killer."
I laughed. "True. And he's 10."
He mumbled something under his breath.
"Don't you have to work today? At the hospital?" I asked curiously.
"Nah, night shift." He drawled and just then the waiter placed our orders in front of us.
I almost drooled at the sight of my cake and the smell of my hazelnut coffee was just addicting.
I swiped my hand across my chin to check if I was drooling and mentally sighed in relief when I didn't find any. I sipped my coffee and almost groaned in delight. That's it I'm going to put up a tent in front and sleep here just so I can get this coffee everyday.
I looked up to find Rael staring at me intently. I looked away immediately and took a big bite of the cake. I looked at him from the corner of my to see him still staring at me with hooded eyes.
"You've got some cream there." He said.
I took a tissue and wiped it and looked at him in question.
He leaned forward and swiped a finger near the corner of my lips.
"Now it's gone."
I felt my cheeks heating up and avoided his eyes.
"So what kind of book did you buy?"
"I bought a fantasy romance genre. It's about faeries and oh em gee Cardan is so handsome like he's my second love of my life after Rhys. Ohh and the plot is also amazing, it's about Jude, a human who lives in the Fey world and Cardan is the faerie prince. It's an enemies to lovers kind of thing. This one is the third and the last book, I swear I'm going to cry when this ends." I rambled
I almost laughed when I looked at Azrael. He looked like a lost puppy.
"Anyway it's a good book." I said with a smile.
"You mean fairies?"
Sigh.
------------------------------
"Thank you for today...I had fun." I said as I got down his bike.
It was already dark when we returned and I rubbed my hands up and down my arms in order to protect me from the cold.
"You don't need to thank me, love." He said gently.
"Good night then" and with that I leaned forward and kissed his cheek, my lips lingering for a few seconds. I turned away with flaming cheeks and a very red nose.
I was about to walk away when he hooked his fingers through my belt loops and turned me towards him.
He leaned forward slowly and kissed the tip of my nose, he cupped my face gently and whispered in my ear,
"Good night, love. I'll see you tomorrow. "
