"They say, curiosity killed the cat. Good thing I'm a human."

Two seniors were currently assigned to supervise the freshly hatched chicks – first years – in the Anatomy lab. Their Anatomy professor was made to have an emergency and hence Sadaaki and his dear friend Akio were asked to station at his place.

"Dude, just go to her and talk to her. Stop dragging me everywhere." Akio complained. Being a medical student, it was hard to get a free lecture as it is and there was his friend who had sworn to make his life more miserable. Is that why God sent friends?

"What are you talking about? I'm genuinely here, because I was curious how first years are doing." Sadaaki defended himself. He neatly divided the stacked sheets of question papers and handed half of them to Akio.

"Yeah right, keep telling yourself that." Akio rolled his eyes and went to distribute the question sheet, to the students.

Sadaaki also took his bunch and placed one sheet on each table as he marched in the Lab. Currently, there were 40 students in the Lab – divided into the group of 5 students each. All of them were given the sections of human limbs to dissect and identify.

Sadaaki's eyes however, kept lingering on a particular girl; who has made him high with the adrenaline rush.

While the subject of his attention was busy, dissecting the life out of already dead body. She was girl, as silent as a river but able to brew a storm. Even with her group, he was working separately, minding her own business.

It was exactly how the rumors described her. Few months back, when the college was brimming with new faces. A little whisper molded into a rumor and the silent girl was famous overnight with the name Shy Princess. The rumor quickly died down as it spread when the students got busy with their studies.

However, The Shy Princess had gotten attention of Sadaaki. Not because she was timid according to the rumors but because she was fierce contrary to the rumors.

Sadaaki was not the person to dwell on such things but he couldn't pin point which part of her was shy. He had the luxury to witness the storm which everyone called a calm.

Unlike now when their Anatomy professor is forced to have an emergency, few weeks back, he genuinely had an issue at home to resolve. So, the professor asked his most trusted students Sadaaki and Akio to stand in his place.

Sadaaki was super pissed while Akio just wanted to have a nap. The two lads were not pleased having to baby sit bunch of chicks who couldn't differentiate between the hands and feet phalanges.

Mindlessly, Sadaaki kept checking their answers. Since it was their first Anatomy session, they weren't given anything tough to begin with. So, Sadaaki didn't bother much with the details when the answers to all the questions were the same,

"Medial Epicondyle of humerus." Said one of the top tier girls of the first year. She was teachers' favorite so whatever she said ought to be the right answer, No?

"Right, right, next." Sadaaki said tiredly ticking the question sheet. After that girl, came the girl which Sadaaki recognized right away. It's the Timid Princess!

Getting a closer look, Sadaaki could confirm the princess part. She was beautiful. Her deep flocks beautifully twisted in a lose bun. Her tiny little fingers teasing the crest of deceased while her lips followed a rhythm of soft breaths. A wonderful feast for the eyes.

"Have you figured out which muscle is this?" Sadaaki tried his best to keep his professional tone.

"It's Olecranon of Ulna." Her voice was as calm as her face. Like a sweet symphony making the fine tunes.

But that was not the time to dwell on her sugar voice, with air of authority Sadaaki said without paying much attention,

"Wrong. It's Medial Epicondyle–"

"It is Olecranon of Ulna!" The shy princess cut him harshly.

"The arm was dislocated that's why the tendons are collided but if you look at the muscles, you can see the insertion point."

Taken aback by her fierce voice, it took Sadaaki some time to process the information. He looked down and indeed, it was the Olecranon of Ulna. A sense of shame rose in him when his eyes darted at the marked sheet – He had been marking them incorrectly.

"Right, I was just testing if students would be able to identify or not." He said urgently switching to new paper. His pride had been crushed too deep that even the deepest vain would feel shallow in comparison.

"Good Job." He said with a smile, more so to hide his own embarrassment. I should have paid attention!

The girl simply looked at him with her fierce gaze and moved away, taking his heart with her. But our future doctor thought, his heart was thumping out of humiliation.

Days passed and instead of hiding, his eyes would search for that girl that caused him shame. Like a specialist, he was able to spot her even in the crowded corridors. He felt a sort of connection with her, just like how fast the blood pumps out and escape through Aorta, it's bound to come back to the heart.

And when he accidently heard his Anatomy professor about having a slight headache. Sadaaki grabbed that chance and now was standing in the Anatomy lab to gaze at that lovely sight to his heart content.

"Dude, you make me want to puke and it's serious when I say that because we are in the Anatomy lab." Akio had distributed his part of the sheets while Sadaaki was going every so slowly like the drip was set on the lowest flow.

Sadaaki immediately picked up the pace and hastily distributed the sheets. He missed his chance to sneak at her name.

"Shut up! I'm here to teach and learn." Sadaaki joined his friend back at the teachers' desk and kept that air of connoisseur intact.

"Yeah, learn her name and teach her romance. I swear I want to barf." The victim of his dense friend, Akio was suddenly questioning his life choices.

Sadaaki – a person who has never spared a glance to anything else but his skeleton girlfriends – Actually couldn't keep his eyes off that girl. How long would it take for this baka to connect the pulses?

Akio certainly didn't wish to have the front row; he just wanted to take a nap.

"If I wanted to, I would have taken a peek at her name on the question sheet but I am a gentle man and hence I would not retort to such appalling acts."

"Dude, that's because you don't know her roll number. You're not that decent as you give yourself credit to."

Not being able to come up with something better, Sadaaki just gave his friend a stern look. The class carried out with each group, identifying the different parts of human muscles and writing down in their report. From time to time, they would ask for their Seniors help and the seniors obliged, giving them secret hints to identify things better. Almost all of the class was engaged with one another except that one girl.

It was like she was in her own world; he didn't even need to rely on anyone.

The students were free to go as they finished their write up. And with the time, only one group and a single girl remained. Akio was already dead asleep, with his hands to cushion his head.

That mysterious girl was writing down on her sheet of paper. Her group mates had already left. It was not that she didn't cooperate with the group, she was busy doing her own research.

She was like a flower that didn't need sun to grow nor the shade made her wither. She kept standing on her own even in the strong wind.

Taking a confident step, Sadaaki reached out to her,

"You have 10 more minutes before the class ends."

"I know." Came a brief but stern reply.

Sadaaki was good at conversing with people but right now, he didn't know how to carry out the ordeal. But one thing was certain, he didn't find an ounce of shyness which others claimed of.

Before a minute long, the stern person was done with her question sheet. She walked up to the teacher's desk and placed it there neatly. And without batting an eyes, she left the room as silently as she came.

Sadaaki just stood there, gazing at her disappearing back.

. . .

"Why don't you just ask her name? and while doing that, ask her out as well." Akio said munching on his lemon bun hungrily. A week had already passed since then but he had to witness his friend's love sick eyes, every time he spotted that girl.

"I didn't even say anything." Sadaaki complained opening his own bento.

"That's the issue dude, you aren't saying a single thing and why there's too much egg in your lunch today? You don't like eggs."

"That's because my sister wanted to eat Tamagoyaki, and what do you want me to do huh?" Sadaaki said unwillingly scarfing down the meal.

"At this point, anything would do. Just don't sit like a lost puppy."

"I am not a lost puppy and give me more directions, don't throw something vague at me."

"Alright, first tell me how exactly you feel about her?" Akio had to make sure what he was dealing with first. For all they knew, they might be doing a wild goose chase.

"I feel like my dopamine level rise abnormally high when I look at her." Sadaaki said with a serious tone.

Uh oh! It's the serious case of heart palpitation!

"Dude you're clearly drowning." Akio said in disbelief.

"I am drowning?" Sadaaki asked in concern, last he had a checkup, his vital organs were functioning normally.

"Yeah, do want to make it go away?"

"Yes! Tell me what I can do."

"Give her a CPR." Akio relayed with a serious face.

"... You're pulling my leg, aren't you?" It was beyond Sadaaki to understand what his friend was trying to convey.

"The one who's pulling your heart vessels is that lady over there." Akio pointed at the live dopamine supply of his friend, silently taking her meal under the shade of a tree.

Following that direction, Sadaaki's heart did many rounds of contraction and relaxation. "I-I don't think you should diagnose me like that."

"Yeah cause there's no treatment of love."

"I am not in love!" Sadaaki denied.

"You can be, she's the specialist who will deal with you." Akio tried to make as much sense of his lost cause friend but his lateral cortex didn't have enough cells for intelligence.

"Stop saying nonsense, why would I even fall in love with her of all people?" Sadaaki got up and stomped away.

"If only love had a diagram to distinguish." Akio stayed there, enjoying his melon bun before the break could be over.

May your heart have enough veins to withstand the rush of blood you'll face, my friend.
