Ara told herself she wouldn’t think about it.

The whole thing was probably nothing—just another one of Jungwon’s teasing moments, another joke to add to his collection.

And yet, as much as she wanted to push it aside, her mind kept replaying their conversation from earlier.

What was the bet? Did he accept it? And most importantly—was it about her?

She groaned under her breath, shaking her head. *No, stop. You’re giving him exactly what he wants.*

“You good?”

Ara snapped out of her thoughts, realizing that Minji was now walking beside her.

They were on their way to the canteen, surrounded by the usual chatter of students.

“Huh? Yeah, why?” Ara asked, adjusting the strap of her bag.

Minji gave her a knowing look. “You just looked like you were plotting someone’s downfall.”

Not someone’s. Just one person’s. But instead, Ara just sighed. “It’s nothing.”

Minji grinned. “Jungwon?”

“What? No.”

“That was too quick.”

Ara rolled her eyes. “I swear, you and everyone else need a new topic.”

Minji laughed but let it go as they reached the canteen. The line was long, so Ara opted to wait at their usual table while Minji went to buy food.

She was scrolling through her phone when someone suddenly sat across from her.

“You look like you need a distraction.”

She didn’t even have to look up. “Go away, Jungwon.”

“See, that reaction makes me think you were thinking about me,” he said, resting his chin on his palm.

Ara finally met his gaze, unimpressed. “You really enjoy being annoying, don’t you?”

He grinned. “It’s a skill, actually.”

“More like a curse.”

Jungwon chuckled, but before he could say anything else, a few of their classmates approached.

“Jungwon, we’re playing a round of table tennis outside. Join us?” one of the boys asked.

Jungwon looked at Ara before smirking. “Sure. But only if Ara plays too.”

Her eyes widened. “Excuse me?”

Minji, who had just returned, gasped. “Oh my god, yes. I’ve never seen Ara play!”

“That’s because I don’t,” Ara said flatly.

Jungwon leaned forward. “Then it’s time to try something new.”

Ara crossed her arms. “What if I say no?”

He grinned. “Then I’ll just have to keep bothering you here instead.”

She groaned. “Fine. One game.”

Jungwon stood up, looking way too satisfied. “That’s the spirit.”

As they walked outside, Ara sighed. Maybe this was a good thing. Maybe it would actually serve as a distraction from her thoughts.

What she didn’t realize was that Jungwon had already won.

Because now, she was doing exactly what he wanted—spending more time with him.
