Alive And Kicking

It was the middle of the night where Klaus and Lizzie ventured into the space that the witches attempted to kill their children a few months ago. Lizzie was wearing a top with a jacket, a jean and some boots. Her hair was thrown up in a messy ponytail.

Klaus paused in his steps searching around for the werewolves that were apparently supposed to be here "Where is she? Where is this witch who dares craft moonlight rings without our permission?"

He looks around to find Cassie, and are startled when he finally hears a voice call out to him"Niklaus. I've been expecting you."

Klaus and Lizzie followed her inside and sat down at a table. She poured tea looking at Klaus and Lola before she said said "I must offer my condolences on the tragic loss of your children."

"Wasn't it your coven who threatened their lives? Is that tea your idea of a peace offering?"Klaus asked her when she slides over two cups of tea to them.

The witch responded "Chamomile has lots of healing properties. Did you know that it is also a flowering plant?"

"I did. The plants grew wild near my boyhood home. But, neither the tea, nor your botanical musings explain the reason why you've taken it upon yourself to forge new moonlight rings."Klaus pointed.

Cassie smiled looking at Lizzie's way "I assumed that was obvious, an alliance between the wolves and the witches would restore balance to our home."

"Well, that's a lofty goal for a teenage girl."Klaus said, suspiciously.

" Long ago, the witches and the wolves were at peace. Then came the vampires... a plague made flesh, a curse on this earth. You have no humanity, and so you punish those who do. Witches have a coven, werewolves have a pack, and so we are a constant reminder of everything that you have forsaken. Creatures such as you will always hate the living, and so we will always have to defend ourselves. The rings level the playing field. If we are united, nothing can stand against us."Cassie explained tapping the side of her tea cup.

Klaus tried to stay calm "It's an ambitious strategy. But, allow me to offer a few words of advice, if I may be so bold? New Orleans is a vicious place, and your enemies are everywhere. Behind your back, before your eyes. You will need to remain vigilant against those who would seek to destroy you, some of whom you may never see coming."

"I see you seem to be attracted to the bad boys, Elizabeth."Cassie told the heretic.

"How exactly do you know my name?"Lizzie asked in confusion as she didn't introduced herself or anything.

Cassie smiled while taking a sip of her tea "I've heard the rumours of an ex witch who was born a siphon and was turned into an abomination herself. Half witch and half vampire. Something like that should never exist."

"Chamomile. It's the same tea my mother made. How I loathed it."Klaus interrupted.

"Would you have preferred mint?"Cassie asked.

"You know, I heard that his mother was insane."Lizzie said.

Cassie raises her eyebrows at her skeptically.

"No, it's true. She believed we were abominations. "A curse on this earth, stretched out over generations," is how she put it. But she was the true monster. She changed her children, stole our innocence, made us vampires, condemned us to an eternity of bloodlust, and then acted as if we were to blame."Klaus agreed with Lizzie.

"Cassie, was it? His mother had attempted to kill me in a ritual to wipe out her children she claimed to be monstrous from the face of the planet. So I must agree with him that his mother was not someone who considered others' wishes."Lola said, glaring at her sitting her tea cup down clutching her hands into fists.

Cassie grumbled "She sounds awful. Are you building to a question, Niklaus?"

Klaus seems taken aback for a moment, and pauses before replying " You use my full name, as though we are familiars. I find it insulting. Before she died, a witch revealed that your coven was under my mother's influence. Does she speak to you now?"

" She doesn't have to...I know exactly what she would say. She would tell you to go to your room for being so rude." Cassie smiled.

Klaus loses his temper and slams his hand over Cassie's, and stares Cassie/Esther in the eye. He seems to have made a revelation about this encounter, but before he can say anything, a group of werewolves come in and surround Cassie/Esther threateningly.

"It's okay. Niklaus and Lola were just leaving."Cassie said.

Klaus growled angrily "I will happily kill them all!"

"Then, you will have murdered members of the very pack you still hope to someday lead. Besides, there's no need for bloodshed. We can always resume this discussion another day. Goodnight, Niklaus. We will speak again soon."Cassie warned.

Klaus and Lizzie left and vamp back to the compound, seeing Elijah waiting for them.

"It is worse than we thought."Klaus said as he breaks the neck off of a bottle of liquor and drinks a large gulp of it.

"What?"Elijah asked.

"I met Cassie. I studied her... her presence, the way she carried herself, the fervor with which she voiced her hatred of our kind. I looked into that girl's eyes, and, I swear to you, Elijah, she's not just guided by our mother. She is our mother."Klaus finished.

"What is happening?" Elijah asked.

Klaus snarled through his bared teeth "I'm going to kill her. I will boil her bones and feed them to the dogs, if that's what it takes."

"Klaus..."Elijah tried to interrupt him.

"What? What could possibly be more important than the return of our mother?"Klaus asked.

"Our father. I saw him standing there in the flesh as you do now. He was enslaved with some spell cast by Davina. He holds the stake. If she chooses to release him..." Elijah sighed.

"Wait what... you're joking right. Please tell me that you are kidding me... cause there is no way that he's alive. Nik told me that he shoved the white oak into his heart. Esther was stabbed by Alaric."Lizzie stated.

"But in this life. Dead doesn't ever truly mean dead, Elizabeth."Elijah trailed off.

"Well, then there's only one question we need to ask, isn't there? Which of our parents do we kill first?"Klaus huffed.

"I'd say Esther since she is coming after our children. She's draining you with every moonlight ring she creates after the next."Lizzie says.

Klaus stated "As much as I would like to agree with you that my mother is first. We have to remember that Mikael has the stake that can kill everyone in my sire line. Including you now, Elizabeth and Hayley."

Lizzie agreed "We will kill them all."

Hayley walked into the compound, leading the wolves who wished to stay with Hayley as their leader. Those who didn't want to stay, she let them go. Everyone deserved to have free will and she wasn't willing to take that away from any of them.

Hayley turned as they walked into the courtyard and said "Take any of the rooms on the first floor."

They nodded immediately walking off.

Hayley looked around spotting Klaus, Lizzie and Elijah talking.

Lizzie and Klaus approached Hayley.

"Are we running a kennel now?" Klaus joked playfully.

"I'll handle them." Hayley said.

"Our family is under siege. It is not the time for guests." Klaus stated.

"If they're not with us, they're with the coven witches. You asked me to step up. This is me stepping up."Hayley says, shaking her head.

"Well, it seems I'm a good influence on you after all." Klaus smiled.

Hayley smiled back.

"I don't see Oliver amongst them. Am I to assume you finished him off?" Lizzie asked.

"We made a deal. He'll pledge his loyalty to Cassie, report back, and tell me everything that he learns." Hayley explained.

"Well done!" Lizzie grinned.

Hayley then went to heads several werewolf girls to their new bedrooms as Elijah descends the stairs to leave. Hayley turns back to some more wolves from the pack who have entered the compound.

"You girls can just go through here."Hayley said.

Lizzie head upstairs.

She walked into Hope and Theo' nursery, grabbing a box from the side beginning to pack the things away.

Lizzie stopped momentarily, saying "I know you're there, Nik."

"What are you doing?" Klaus asked, edging closer to her, placing his hand on her shoulder.

"Putting everything away temporarily. You know to keep up our illusion." Lizzie explained.

Klaus nodded starting to help her.

Lizzie walked over to the cot and started folding the fabrics brushing her hands over them, thinking about Hope and Theo.

Suddenly she felt Klaus hand on her cheek slowly wiping away the tears she didn't know were falling down her face.

He looked directly at her in the eyes and said "We'll get our children back, I promise."

Lizzie gave him a small smile letting him hug her tightly.
