Crescent City

At St. Anne's Church, Father Kieran is holding the first mass since the massacre as he began "Thank you all for coming. It means more than I can tell you. We gather today for the first public service of our newly reopened church. St. Anne's can finally once again be the heart of our community, where we can congregate as a people united. Here, this hour, we come together to praise God and give thanks. The events that took place at our church were tragic."

Lizzie and Marcel shared a look. It was kind of ironic how Kieran was talking about looking to God when the three of them sat there... but whatever.

Klaus arched a brow as Marcel let out a huff of annoyance.

"Problem?"Klaus asked at a whisper, his hand that rested on Lizzie's knee shifting simply as he turned to look at Marcel.

Marcel said as he shook his head, seeming to be somewhere else "No."

"Then pay attention. We're meant to seem like devoted parishioners."Klaus mocked lightly, voice hushed as he spoke to the two sitting next to them.

Lizzie's lips curved up into an amused smile as Father Kieran's voice echoed through church halls "And it is that hope in our hearts, and with the help of many benefactors, that allows us to be here today. So, we gather with renewed spirit, made stronger, committed to the ideals of peace and love. Amen."

"Amen."Everyone in the church mumbled back before taking a stand, moving to leave as Father Kieran moved to stand by the doors, thanking everyone in passing.

"Lovely sermon this morning, Father. Quite inspirational."Klaus smirked as the trio made their way outside, standing in front of St. Anne's.

Kieran looked between the three with an arched brown, seemingly quite shocked at the fact they were there as he said "I wasn't expecting you to join us."

Klaus smirk widened as he wrapped an arm around Lizzie's shoulder before he replied sarcastically, earning an eyeroll from Kieran "Oh, we were hoping for some word from your human sources on the recent Haitian invasion."

Father Kieran responded " My guys have their ears on the ground, and no one has seen or heard any sign of whatever his name is."

"He is called Papa Tunde."Lizzie told the man, a small smile on her lips.

Marcel retorted "And right now, he's wandering in the Quarter with the power he absorbed from every soul I had buried in the Garden, so you might wanna put your ear a little closer to the ground."

"Or I could steer clear of whatever war is brewing between your kind and his, before I find myself..."Father Kieran began before he was abruptly cut off by Camille who came to stand in the middle of Lizzie and Marcel _ Lizzie tilted her head as she stared up at Klaus, the two sharing a look.

The blonde shook her uncle's hand wordlessly, seeming to ignore the other three. Klaus merely huffed in amusement at the blonde's pettiness, pulling Lola closer.

" I wanted to congratulate you on getting the church up running. I can see this is a bad time. Nice to see you, Marcel."Camille said before walking away.

"Have a nice day, Camille."Lizzie called out with a grin as she watched Camille's retreating figure.

"Cami!"Kieran yelled out after her but the bartender kept walking, ignoring her uncle.

Kieran sighed deeply, looking toward the three with a pointed look, especially Lizzie.

The siphon rose her hands defensively and said "Don't look at me, I didn't do anything."

The priest's eyes drifted to Marcel _ the Gerard copied the witch's actions, raising his hands.

Klaus rolled his eyes at their antics as Kieran's eyes finally fell on him, so he told the priest "Well, don't look at me. I tried to send her away."

Then the hybrid's phone began ringing. The original held up his finger in one moment motion and took a step away as he answered the call _ leaving Lizzie and Marcel as Kieran continued to bid everyone from the church goodbye.

"Yes, Diego, what do you have for me?"Klaus questioned the vampire as soon as he answered the phone, watching as Lizzie and Marcel chatted amongst themselves, an eyeroll formed as he watched Marcel laugh at something the siphon said to him.

"Uh, we got a special delivery."Diego said.

"Would you care to elaborate?"Klaus asked as he rose a brow.

"Either our witch problems are over, or they're just get started."Diego said.

Klaus sighed before hanging up, he shoved his phone in his back pocket before calling out to Lizzie and Marcel.

The two made their way over to the original. Klaus grabbed her hand and sped off with her, Marcel following in pursuit.

Later, everyone was gathered in the compound as Elijah was examining Papa Tunde's dead body.

Lizzie was wearing a red top with a leather jacket, a jean and some boots.

Faye was wearing a T-shirt with a pink jacket, a jean and some boots.

"Can I get you anything, brother? A magnifying glass? A pipe, perhaps?" Klaus mocked, clasping his hands behind his back, earning a snort from Lola.

"You have a theory you'd like to share with us, Niklaus?" Elijah asked with a sigh, glancing over to his brother.

"Back in the day, the witches wanted to send a threat, they'd just kill a chicken and leave it on your doorstep." Marcel told them as he was looking at the dead body.

"It's rather a large and ominous chicken, wouldn't you say?" Luke remarked.

"Papa Tunde defeated Rebekah with ease, almost got the two of us as well. If he was supposed to be the prize fighter, why leave him for dead in our front yard?" Klaus asked confused.

Rebekah entered the compound as she said "Well, don't you look cheery. Listen to this, a girl literally exploded from a grave today as Sabine was giving a tour of the city of the dead. It was Monique Deveraux."

"What?" Luke asked, surprised.

"The tourists thought it was part of the show, but the witches are celebrating like it's some kind of bloody miracle." Rebekah explained.

"Maybe it is. They think that all hope is lost, but now suddenly a Harvest girl is resurrected. This is how we're gonna get Davina back, kill the witch who took her place." Marcel answered.

"I have a theory about who one of them could be. Celeste. I mean, it's got to be. Davina was trying to tell us, she was drawing pictures of Celeste. She was warning us that a great evil is coming."Hayley said.

"First, Papa Tunde returns to settle old scores, now your murdered lover is back. This isn't witches attacking vampires. They're declaring war on us." Klaus huffed from behind Lola, rubbing his hand over his stubble in annoyance.

Lizzie sighed deeply, leaning back until her back was pressed against Klaus' chest, a huff escaped her lips.

One drama free day _ that's all she wanted.

She wanted to go shopping with Hayley. But no. Life doesn't work like that, she had to be smack bang in the middle of a fucking war.

Later on, tonight was the full moon and as promised, Lizzie, Faye and Luke were helping Hayley pack.

"I thought I was gonna have to drag you to the plantation kicking and screaming." Rebekah said as they stepped out of the car.

Lola shrugged as she gave the Original a sheepish smile "I'm not bothered, Bex. As long as it keeps me away from their dick measuring contests."

Rebekah then asked Hayley "And what exactly is the plan here?"

"Tonight's a full moon, Rebekah. I invited a few people over. Lizzie, Luke and Faye might have found a way to break the curse."Hayley sighed.

"Right. So every red-blooded American werewolf will be a bundle of fur and sharp teeth tonight, whilst your cursed Crescent Clan will be..." Rebekah trailed.

" Human. Only for a few hours, and won't be again until the next full moon, so... I asked Josh to get a message out to Eve in the Bayou."Hayley interrupted.

"Josh isn't dead yet? Well good on him. I love a nice survival story." Rebekah asked, surprised.

Rebekah snorted and then noticed a blonde man wheeling a dolly probably filled with alcohol and asked"Who the bloody hell is that?"

"Kegs out back, alright?"Hayley said to the man as she cleared her throat.

"Yep." The man replied simply.

"Right. It appears you weren't gonna wait for me to grant you permission to throw a kegger." Rebekah said, amused.

Faye urged "Come on, Bex. Help us throw a banger. You've got that whole hot-popular-girl-who-throws-epic-high-school-parties vibe going for you. Plus, Hayley gets to meet her dodgy family. Win-win. Maybe you'll even meet a hot, shirtless cousin and finally get laid."

"Fine." Rebekah sighed defeated.

That night, Hayley had picked out clothes for her pack. Meanwhile, Rebekah was stirring something in a pot, ranting about Elijah's hypocrisy and Klaus many sins while Faye and Luke was keeping her company when Lizzie's phone rang.

"Nik! Tell me you found the witches and burned them at the stake."Lizzie said.

"Sorry, love, no. But I need witchy assistance."Klaus told her.

"What's wrong?"Lizzie asked.

He explained "It's Father Kieran. He's been hexed by a bloody witch. Can you siphon it off?"

Lizzie sighed as her face fell "Sorry, Nik, but hexes aren't like basic magic. If I siphon it, it'll transfer to me and I'm kinda already carrying two ticking time bombs inside me. It'd be risky for the babies. "

He asked "So what do we do?"

Lizzie said "I don't know. Hexes are complicated. Sorry, I know you like the priest."

Just then, Lizzie noticed Rebekah talking to a shirtless, muscular blonde werewolf trying very hard to flirt.

"Sexy."She murmured, staring.

"Sexy? Who's there with you?"Klaus asked suspiciously.

Lizzie's eyes widened. She'd forgotten she was still on the call. If Klaus found out about the party or Hayley's pack, his paranoia would go nuclear.

"Your sister. Super sexy. Gotta go! Bye, Nik!"Lizzie said, hanging up before he could say another word.

Lizzie then walked to find her brother and Faye.

Later, Hayley was throwing the empty cups that were in the living room into the trash can. Suddenly, a man with curly brown hair joined them.

" I seriously doubt you invited us here to wait on us. I'm Jackson. It's nice to see you again, Hayley." The man named Jackson said.

Lizzie, Luke and Faye walked into this moment.

"You're the wolf who saved us in the Bayou." Hayley blinked.

" I gotta keep my eye on you. Precious cargo and all." Jackson says, nodding.

"Right. Gotta protect the miracle babies."Hayley said to him.

"No, that's not what I meant. I don't care about the babies. Sorry, that came out wrong. I mean, of course I care. The babies are part werewolves. Babies, it's a big deal. But personally, my interest is in you."Jackson said.

"You don't know her." Lizzie says, getting protective over her.

"Our parents knew each other. They were of the same people, but not the same bloodline. Now, you know how pack hierarchy works, right? Everybody has their part to play, and... we had our part, too." Jackson explained.

"What part was that?" Hayley asked.

"You were supposed to be my wife." Jackson sighed.

A few minutes later, Jackson sits at the piano playing it softly and said to Hayley"I know it's a lot to take in."

"You think? I just wanted to meet my family. I never imagined I'd meet my former match from some weird-ass arranged marriage. " Hayley scoffed.

Jackson stopped playing, turning to Hayley and said "I guess you don't know about any of this because there was never anyone around to teach you. The Crescents aren't just any pack of wolves. The bloodline goes back to the very beginning. Two families...yours and mine. I guess that makes us kind of a royalty. "

"This is a joke, right? I mean, if you're royalty, where's the throne?" Hayley laughed.

"New Orleans used to be our town, and we lost it all because of some in-fighting. The vampires came after us, and if our families were united, we could've taken them. So, our parents decided to bring the two lines back together, and... you and I were betrothed."Jackson explained.

"This is ridiculous."Hayley muttered.

"Look, obviously things didn't work out the way anyone thought they would. Our pack made a huge misstep with the vampires when we refused to back down, and Marcel had us cursed by a witch. You are the last one of your bloodline. These people will follow you. You can help them... you and what you represent." Jackson said.

"And what is that exactly?" Hayley sighed.

"A time when things were different. When our people fought back. And after everything you went through to find us... You're the one who's gonna break our curse." Jackson says.

"What are you talking about?"Lizzie asked.

"The other witch. She told Eve she was coming here tonight to set us free." Jackson explained.

Luke blinked "What witch?"

"Not me or Faye or Luke. Something's up. Classic witch drama. We should've exterminated them ages ago."Lizzie said sharply.

Faye said, grabbing her phone "I'm calling Elijah."

"Lizzie, can you siphon the spell?"Hayley asked Lizzie.

"At your service, bestie."Lizzie smirked.

She moved to Jackson as she added "Okay, this is going to hurt. Please don't scream."

Jackson  nodded solely and said "Thank you for helping."

"Luke and I, we know what it is to being cursed."Lizzie said, thinking about the Merge.

"And we wouldn't wish it on anyone."Luke added.

Lizzie placed her hands on Jackson's temples and began siphoning. The rush of magic hit her, tingling in her veins. She honed in on the spell _ it was simple enough. No need for complicated rituals. Just a few ingredients.

That's when she noticed the smoke. She coughed violently as flames erupted, licking up the walls. Luke ran in, tearing a strip from her shirt and started pressing it to his sister's mouth. Lizzie's vision blurred. The room spun. She could barely hear anything. Luke's voice was distant before it was darkness.

She collapsed into Luke's arms.

Jackson tried to break a window with a piano stool. It shattered instead of the glass. Fire spread fast, devouring curtains and carpet. Then _ crash _ a window burst open.

Elijah stormed through the fire, grabbing Lizzie's limp body and carrying her out. Hayley, Jackson, Faye and Luke followed, coughing and stumbling as flames engulfed the house. Outside, Lizzie remained unconscious while Elijah scanned the woods calling for Rebekah.

But there was no answer.

Later on, Lizzie woke up in the bed she shared with Klaus, her head pounding and her chest aching like someone had ripped her heart out and handed it back the wrong way. She blinked slowly, confusion swimming behind her eyes.

Hayley sat beside her, clearly having been watching her sleep. The second Lizzie stirred, she sprang to life as she asked "Are you okay? How do you feel? Do you need water? Food? I don't know what you people need..."

Lizzie winced and groaned "I'll be fine the second you stop talking."

Hayley froze.

Lizzie muttered, rubbing her temples "Sorry. But my heads feels like it got hexed and then set on fire. Which knowing our lives, might actually be what happened. What the hell happened after I siphoned the spell off Jackson? Everything's kind of... fuzzy."

Hayley's face fell as she explained "Some witches trapped us inside the house. They set it on fire... like actual fire. And then they made Elijah choose between saving us... or Rebekah and Klaus."

Lizzie's eyes snapped to hers.

"They took them, Lizzie. We can't find them."Luke said, entering with Faye.

For a second, all Lizzie could hear was the ringing in her ears. Then she clenched her fists as she said "These witches are really starting to get on my nerves. But it's Klaus and Rebekah... we're talking about two of the most dramatic, murderous cockroaches in history. They'll be fine. I'll do a locator spell and we'll find them."

Hayley hesitated, then asked softly "I know this is probably the worst timing ever, but... about the curse. On my pack. What did you find out?"

Lizzie exhaled slowly "Well, good news is, I don't need a fancy spell. Just a little potion... some ingredients, a few hours of prep, and your furry extended family needs to drink it on the next full moon."

Hayley's eyes widened as she gasped "Seriously?"

Lizzie said "I'll make you a list."

Without warning, Hayley tackled her in a tight hug making Lizzie grunt as Hayley exclaimed "You are literally the best friend ever!"

Faye chuckled "Now, now, Lizzie need to rest."

Hayley nodded as Luke helped his sister lay in bed and tuck her in the bed.
