House Of The Rising Son

They sat on a weathered bench near the riverfront, the late-afternoon sun casting long shadows across the Quarter. Hayley carefully uncorked the tiny vial of poison, her movements practiced. She'd picked up the wolfsbane from a quiet little herb shop. Hayley had convinced Lizzie it was the best option. Lizzie had taken the simpler task _ buying a takeaway cup of herbal tea to mix it into.

All Lizzie had to do now was drink it.

Just one sip and part of her nightmare would be over. The rest, forcing the witches to break the linking spell would require torture.

After that, the'd skip town. She'd face her coven with Luke, get the ascendant and free Kai. Kai would help them. She just had to drink the tea.

Hayley gave her a soft, almost maternal smile as she told her "One upset stomach, Lizzie. That's all it takes. Then this nightmare? Over."

Lizzie lifted the cup slowly. Her fingers trembled as she brought it close to her lips. She closed her eyes. The opened them. Lowered the cup. She sighed, wondering why was this so hard.

She raised the cup again, but stopped when Hayley stood abruptly, looking around.

"What?"Lizzie asked, confused.

Then she felt it _ magic in the air. Her stomach dropped.

"Oh for fuck's sake. If it's those damn witches again, I swear..."Lizzie trailed.

But it wasn't witches. It was worse. A vampire stepped out of the shadows, smirking.

"Dumb move coming into the Quarter. You're both coming with me."He sneered.

Lizzie scoffed, laughing "That's adorable."

Hayley, however looked fed up and said "I have had it with vampires bossing me around."

Without warning, she snatched the cup from Lizzie's hand and flung its contents into the vampire's face. The hot tea sizzled against his skin and he howled in pain.

Lizzie said "We need to go. Now."

But when they turned, two more vampires blocked their path.

One got too close. Lizzie didn't hesitate. She reached out, grabbed his arm and siphoned him dry. Magic surged through her like wildfire, addictive and exhilarating. She smiled, eyes lit with euphoria.

The second vampire lunged at her but didn't get far.

Rebekah descended like vengeance incarnate, elegant and terrifying. She drove her hand through his chest and ripped out his heart with a disgusted frown.

She drawled, examining the heart before tossing it aside "That is no way to treat a pregnant lady? I do hate bad manners."

"Thank you for that."Lizzie said.

Rebekah smiled "You're welcome."

Later on, they were back at the dusty old mansion. Klaus threw the final vampire body onto the pile in the courtyard, his jaw clenched, every muscle in his body coiled with fury.

Klaus jabbed a finger toward the pile of corpses as he said " "This is why I told you never to leave the house. Werewolves are banned in the Quarter, and witches aren't exactly welcomed with open arms. I had a plan, and your little nighttime stroll put it all in peril!"

"Leave him! You've done enough, don't you think? Leaving a trail of bodies like a road map to my door?" Klaus snapped when Rebekah stepped toward the bodies.

"If I hadn't overheard those bastards bragging about werewolves heads, everyone here would be screwed. And don't give me that crap about having a plan. You've had all the time in the world to execute a plan, and no one's seen you do a damn thing! Elijah made a deal to protect this baby, so that it could save you from your selfish, rotten selves. But you obviously don't give a damn about the child or Elijah, because what have you done to honor it?" Rebekah fought back.

"I have done everything. Let me spell it out for you, shall I? From the day I arrived, Marcel hasn't trusted me. From Day One, he's had his vampires ingest toxic vervain which, as you know, little sister, protects them from my mind control. I needed a spy, someone on the inside with me who Marcel would never suspect. So, I created a Day Zero and got there first. Marcel had just lost six vampires, thanks to your little murder spree, and he needed new recruits. So, I made the new one mine, before he'd had even a drop of vervain. And this one – I'm gonna drain him of vervain, compel him to believe his mates found religion and moved to Utah, so that he can explain to Marcel why he lost three more vampires tonight. " Klaus explained as he started to drag Josh inside the house.

"Does anyone have any more questions? No? Good, because I have a question.  Elizabeth, what were you two doing in the bloody French Quarter in the first place? " Klaus then demanded to know but they doesn't answer him.

"Leave her be!"Rebekah defended.

"You wanna know what we were doing? We were buying poison, so we could put your little baby out of its misery. "Hayley exclaimed.

Klaus runs at Lizzie with vampire speed and pins him to the door by the neck. She gasps for air.

"Nik! Nik!" Rebekah said to stop him but he ignored his sister.

She then runs at Klaus with vampire speed, pushes him off of Lizzie and grabs him by the shoulders. Hayley coughs and splutters, massaging her throat.

She then snapped angrily "Keep your hands off her, she's pregnant for god sakes! You talk so much about not wanting the child. And the moment she says she want to get rid of this, you do this? It's okay to care. It's okay to want something. That's all Elijah was trying to do, all he's ever wanted for you. All we've ever wanted."

Klaus, calmed down but reeling from being confronted with his feelings, sits down on the stairs. Rebekah sits beside him.

"I gave Elijah to Marcel." Klaus told his sister.

"What? Why would you do this?" Luke asked, walking into the room.

"Marcel was nervous. It's bad enough one Original returned to town, but three? His crew was getting antsy. He wanted Elijah gone, so... I gave him a peace offering." Klaus said.

"You bartered our brother?" Rebekah asked.

"I have a plan. Gain Marcel's trust, dismantle his empire, honor Elijah's wish that that baby be born. I am executing that plan the only way I know how. If you don't like it, there's the door. See if I care." Klaus said as he head upstairs.

The next morning, Klaus stood outside the open door of Lizzie's bedroom in the mansion. Klaus entered the room, looking at Lizzie's sleeping figure covered by the white sheets of the bed with the duvet of the bed pushed to the side. At the bench of the bed was a small bottle that Klaus picked up, but he froze when he heard her voice saying " I didn't use it."

"You're awake. " Klaus stated, putting down the bottle and walking to the window that faced the backyard.

"I could barely sleep all night. This house is like a freaking swamp sauna and I had morning sickness." Lizzie admitted, sitting up.

"What stopped you? You could have been free of all of this... of me." Klaus asked.

"I still can... but I realised that it would be selfish of me to make the child grow up without a father, no matter how crazy he is."Lizzie told him truthfully.

"I'm beginning to think we're a lot alike, you and I. We're both castoffs who have learned to fight when we're backed into a corner." Klaus told her.

"Well, we're backed into a corner now." Lizzie slightly shrugged.

"Ah, that we are. It's time to fight... little Siphon." Klaus said as he softly placed a hand on her shoulder.

Klaus then backed away and moves to leave but stopped when Lola said "This whole thing with Marcel... the deal you have with the witches, trying to take him down, take what's his, I overheard Rebekah telling Luke and Hayley that you two once loved each other like family. What happened?"

" I made Marcel everything that he is. I treated him like a son. And when my father chased me and my family from New Orleans a hundred years ago, we believed Marcel was killed – we each mourned him, in our own way. Yet, when I returned, I found not only had he survived, he had thrived. Instead of seeking us out, instead of sticking together as one, he made a choice to take everything my family had built and make it his own. Now, he is living in our home, he is sleeping in our beds. That 'M' he stamps everywhere... it's not for 'Marcel'. It's for 'Mikaelson'. I want it all back, and if I have to push him out to get it, then that's exactly what I'll do. I'll have someone see to the air conditioning." Klaus stated before he went to leave the room once more before pausing and letting out a huge sigh.

Turning back to her, he nodded toward the door as he says "Let's get you breakfast now, shall we?"

Lizzie nodded and hopped out of the bed, making sure not to trip over the comforter that had founds its way onto the ground once Klaus had gotten up.

The pair then left the room and made their way down the stairs to go to the kitchen for a breakfast. As they did went to go get breakfast, they saw Luke before the door opened and Rebekah speedily made her way into the mansion.

"You were right. The girl, Cami...she's the key. Marcel likes her, and because of that I got to see the secret weapon of his that you've been going on about." Rebekah said.

Luke looked at her and Klaus asked "Well, don't stand on ceremony. What is it?"

"Lizzie was right. It's not a 'what', it's a 'who'. A girl, Davina. She can't be more than sixteen, and I have never felt power like that." Rebekah answered.

" A witch. Just like Lizzie informed us."Klaus says nodding.

"She's not just any witch, she's something I've never seen before, something beyond powerful, and now because of you she has Elijah. Who knows what she could do to him." Rebekah replied angrily.

"Where is she?" Luke asked.

Rebekah stops to think, then looks confounded and says "That clever bitch. I don't know."

"What's wrong?"Klaus asked.

"She wiped my memory of the location." Rebekah said before she started to shout at Klaus " Marcel possesses a weapon bigger and more powerful than an Original, and you handed our brother to him! How many times will Elijah forgive you? How long until his hope for your redemption finally dies?"

"I did what I had to do! Marcel took our home!" Klaus shouted at her.

"And our home is worthless without family. I am finding Elijah – whatever it takes. Are you going to help me?" Rebekah said.

"Whatever it takes." Klaus agreed.

And they all nodded in agreement.

"I can try and siphon the spell this witch used on you. If it doesn't work, I would at least get a glimpse of her power and how it works. Can I?"Lizzie told Rebekah.

Rebekah nodded, so Lizzie marched towards her and took her temples between her hands and started looking for the spell, when she found it, she started siphoning, suddenly her head started throbbing but she continued trying, until a hand pushed her away from the female original, it was Klaus.

Lizzie woke up from her trance with a gasp.

"Lizzie, your nose is bleeding."Luke remarked.

"The girl, her magic is so dark. I never felt it this much before. Her magic feels like death, like she stole at least two dead witches' magic. It feels like an ancestral magic ritual had gone wrong or something."Lizzie told them horrified.

Everyone shared a solemn look and nodded.
