The Gingerbread Bear and Other Stories chapter one
Once upon a time in San Francisco, Grizz was in the living room writing a story called "The Gingerbread Bear." When he had finished writing his story, Grizz went to the kitchen where Shelley and the cubs were playing a game of Monopoly. "It's story time, kids!" cried Grizz. The Cubs tried to escape but Shelley blocked the back door. "Now, kids it's very rude to run away when your father is talking," said Shelley. "Take your seats." The Cubs took their seats. "Now that all my family are here, I shall read you a story that I wrote," said Grizz. "What's your story, morning glory?" asked Dipper. "It's a retelling of the classic story called: The Gingerbread Bear," said Grizz. "We're all ears, Grizz!" said Shelley. Grizz smiled and began to read this classic story.
The Gingerbread Bear
Once upon a time, an old woman and her husband lived in a big house. The couple had five children and ten grandchildren. One day, the grandmother decided to make some gingerbread bears for her granddaughter's school. She mixed the batter, rolled out the dough, and cut out twenty-seven very nice gingerbread bears. She added red and green icing for their hair, mouths, and clothes, and she used chocolate chips for buttons, eyes, and noses. What fine looking gingerbread bears they were! The grandmother put them in the oven to bake. After they were fully done, the grandmother slowly opened the oven door. Up jumped one of the gingerbread bears, and he ran out the door saying, "Try, try, if you dare you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Bear!" The grandmother and her family ran after him, but they could not catch him. And so the Gingerbread Bear ran and ran. While he was running, he met a cow. 🐮 "Moo!" said the cow. "You look good enough to eat!" And the cow started to chase the little bear. But the Gingerbread Bear ran faster saying, "My dear cow, I ran away from an old woman and her family and I can run away from you!" And the Gingerbread Bear laughed. "We shall see about that!" said the cow. "Try, try if you dare you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Bear!" The cow ran after the Gingerbread Bear but she could not catch him. The Gingerbread Bear kept running and soon he met a horse.🐴 "Neigh!" said the horse. "You look mighty tasty to eat!" "My dear horse, I ran away from an old woman and her family, a cow, and I can run away from you!" said the Gingerbread Bear. "We shall see about that!" said the horse. The Gingerbread Bear ran away singing, "Try, try, if you dare you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Bear!" The horse ran after the Gingerbread Bear but he could not catch him. The Gingerbread Bear ran away laughing and singing. While he was running, he met a chicken.🐔 "Cluck!" said the chicken. "You look good enough to peck for dinner, Mr. Gingerbread Bear!" But the Gingerbread Bear just laughed. "My dear chicken, I ran away from an old woman and her family, a cow, a horse, and I can run away from you!" said the Gingerbread Bear. "We shall see about that!" said the chicken. The Gingerbread Bear ran away singing, "Try, try, if you dare you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Bear!" The chicken ran after the Gingerbread Bear but she could not catch him. The Gingerbread Bear was proud that he could run so fast. "Nobody can catch me." thought the Gingerbread Bear. So he kept on running until he met a wolf.🐺 The Gingerbread Bear just had to tell the wolf how he ran faster than all the others. "Mr. Wolf, as tasty as I appear to be, I cannot let you catch and eat me." said the Gingerbread Bear. "I ran away from an old woman and her family a cow, a horse, a chicken, and I can run away from you!" But Mr. Wolf did not seem to care. "Why would I want to eat you?" asked Mr. Wolf. "You don't even look that tasty." The Gingerbread Bear was so relieved. "Well, good, Mr. Wolf." said the Gingerbread Bear. "If you don't mind, I think I'll take a little rest here." So the Gingerbread Bear stopped running and stood still. And right when he stood still... SNAP! Went Mr. Wolf's jaws right into the Gingerbread Bear until he was gone. "He was very tasty after all." thought the wolf. The End.
"So, what was the moral of my story, kids?" asked Grizz. "Don't play with your food," said Bradley. "Don't brag about yourself," said Dipper. "Don't talk to strangers," said April. "Aw kids, that's so very WRONG!" said Grizz. "The moral of the story is: if you're going to bake magical cookies, make sure that the doors and windows are locked!" "What happened to the other twenty-six gingerbread bears?" asked Crystal. "Oh, Daddy ate them all last night," said Grizz. "Any other questions?" "I'm hungry, Daddy," said Eliza. "Can we have lunch?" asked Gj."Of course, we can!" said Shelley. "And after lunch, Daddy will tell us another story." five minutes later, the cubs were enjoying their cheeseburgers🍔 when Ivory saw her Mom and Dad kissing. "Eww gross!" said Yasmin. "They're doing it again!" "Hello, we're trying to eat here!" said Bradley. "Oh, no they're French kissing!" cried Crystal. "I just lost my appetite," said Dipper. "How romantic!" sighed Eliza. "I think we're grossing our cubs out, Grizz," said Shelley. "Okay, cubs ready to hear Daddy's story?" asked Grizz. The cubs nodded their heads. "I rather see some lip-locking action", said Eliza. "Ugh can we please mail Eliza to Abu Dhabi, Dad?" asked Dipper. "How about if I mailed you to Zanzibar, Dipper?" asked Grizz. "How about if you read the story while I get the milk and cookies okay, sweetheart?" asked Shelley. "Okay, Shelley," said Grizz. And with that, he began to read this classical story called Jack and the Beanstalk.
