So for our first interview today we bring you aciddaises_ a prominent member of the MDC community who has proven them selves to be valiant in battle!

Now lets cut the dramatics and get on with it already!

What is your name/user?

aciddaisies_ / ano or anoushka is what people usually call me!

When did you start making graphics?

presumably since 2012? it's hard to say when exactly but it was definitely during that phase of the mdc.

What is your inspiration for graphic design?

Everything really. I use Pinterest a LOT.  With covers and manipulations i tend to find boards that showcase some good quality, professional book covers with good manipulation. it not only gives me inspiration, but also fuels me with motivation to create something even better. with image threads, web design examples are your best friend. look up a bunch of website designs and use the structured layouts to give you inspiration for your threads! i honestly do get inspiration from everything to be honest. things like album covers, newspaper clippings, billboards, advertisements etc. you don't need a pinterest board to fill you with inspiration, all you need is the world around you.

How long does it usually take to make a graphics?

honestly it takes me a few hours. i usually like to finish all my projects in one sitting so generally my longer projects such as full manip fantasy book covers take around 2-4 hours.

Whats your favorite part of graphics design?

scenery based covers oof i love fantasy and realism in covers so lighting, highlights, shadows etc are so much fun to do. i also really enjoy making image threads and working with bright color schemes

What's your biggest pet peeve while designing?

What's your biggest pet peeve while designing? depends which way the question goes. generally i hate illegible text on graphics such as 5px uppercase body text on threads or really tiny titles on books. in my own processes, the feeling when you find the perfect stock/brush/text style/texture/model and then you find out its a paid resource

What do you find difficult about designing?

teen fic covers and texture based covers. i'm just generally more tune with scenery based and realistic type design, so making covers with bright textures or even darker covers with just textures is incredibly difficult for me mostly bc i don't know what looks right and what the trends are (i'm 17 but i'm legit 50 at heart, ya girl slow af)

What is one thing you wish you could've learnt before you started making graphics?

that topaz clean was not my friend and smart sharpen was in the shadows waiting for me to come to my senses. no but for real like i used to use topaz clean so so much it was ridiculous. i only ever stopped using it like 2 years ago maybe? default smart sharpen is truly the greatest of all time. it makes your graphic sharp, crisp, shows the detail and just overall looks much better in my opinion.

What would you say to those just starting graphic design?

honestly you're going to struggle and hate your program but once you learn the ropes and figure out what works for you and what style you'd want to adopt, you'll be all set!! i also suggest tuning into people's livestream links. i used to look up to weekender so so much when i was in the mid years of my journey so far. no joke, id stay up till 3/4 am just to tune into her livestreams and boy was it worth it. you may think you're putting in a lot of effort for a website but once you have a skill that you've mastered or at least become fairly proficient at, you can explore so many new avenues with your talents. i'm planning on getting a part time job in graphic design and marketing psychology next year before i start uni and my basic knowledge of photoshop and color theory etc. is super useful and is something firms really appreciate having!!
