The Hands That Hurt Us- Part 16
Jin frantically turned back to the receptionist. "Woah, woah, woah! Wait! A psych ward?! No, no no, this is a mistake. Jungkook isn't supposed to be here, he was supposed to only have a therapy appointment. This is a mistake, get him out."
"I'm afraid I can not do that, sir." The receptionist was barely even paying attention to Jin and Taehyung as she was preoccupied with something on the computer.
"Why can't you do that? He isn't supposed to be here! And what do you mean you can't release patients based upon family request? What does that mean? How do patients get out?" Jin was panicking just as much as Taehyung was at this point. Taehyung was gripping Jin's sleeve tightly hoping his hyung could somehow save their maknae.
"They must complete our program," the receptionist said.
"He isn't supposed to be in any program! He needs to be let out! He's not crazy! Him coming here was some kind of mistake. Our manager must not have realized what he was doing when signing Jungkook up for this!" Jin was yelling at this point. He didn't know a single person could make him so angry.
Taehyung decided while Jin was arguing with the receptionist he was going to look up the programs this place offered. Maybe they did offer a separate therapy program and manager Shik had just signed Jungkook up for the wrong thing. It was a pretty big building, it was bound to offer other programs.
He looked up the name of the place and had to scroll a little ways to find it, apparently it wasn't entirely that popular. He finally found the website for it and it seemed like any other medical website. The website had pictures of smiling patients and discussed mental health and talked about their therapy programs. Taehyung was confused when it didn't even mention anything about a psych ward.
He clicked on random links until he found himself on a review page for the place and started reading through them.
user_xxx: This place is a fuckin scam! Do not go there!
userx_X: If you end up here, good luck getting out. They don't release anyone for anything. There have been people trapped here for like 20 years.
user_x_x: My brother was brought here by mistake. He wasn't supposed to be admitted, yet the appointment was somehow disguised and it was actually an admittance. We had to call the police and everything to get him out, and when we finally got him back he was doped on whatever the hell experimental drugs they pump those poor people with!
userx.x: I'm pretty sure this is a place for the criminally insane.
user____x : They beat their patients for no reason. The cops have been called there so many times but claim they can't shut it down.
Taehyung wanted to throw up as he looked around the waiting room again. If these reviews were true, then they had a very big problem. He remembered the nightmare he had the other night about Jungkook going missing and never being seen again and his fear intensified. What if we can't get him back? He held his phone up to the receptionist. "Are these reviews real?"
The receptionist took a quick look. "People have their own opinions about this place."
Jin snatched Taehyung's phone to look at it. "What?! Drugs?! If you think for a second you are pumping that boy full of any weird experimental drugs you have another thing coming lady! And nobody better put a damn hand on him! What the hell is this place? How can you not release people? I want Jungkook out now or I'm calling the police!"
Taehyung leaned over the counter closer to the plexiglass window. "How the hell can you get away with something like this?"
"We are a private organization."
"What does that mean?"
"We make our own rules and laws."
"So your rules and laws are to trap people inside here and hurt them?! Why?! What about the people who are here by accident?! Jungkook is here by accident! Let him out!"
Taehyung was screaming at the receptionist as she took a walkie-talkie into her hand yet didn't take her eyes off of him. "If you don't calm down, I don't mind admitting you too."
Jin quickly grabbed Taehyung's arm and pulled him back into a protective hug, he was already having enough of a problem getting one maknae out he didn't need to deal with trying to get back two of them. "Stop it. Calm down. We will get him back, okay? We are not leaving until we get him back."
Jin turned to the receptionist. "You can't just take people because you want to. Isn't that technically considered kidnapping?"
"We are a private organization."
"You're kidnapping people! How is that legal?!" Jin screamed.
"We are a private organization."
Taehyung escaped Jin's grip and leaned back towards the window. "Are you a damn robot or something? You keep repeating yourself like a broken record. Private organization or not you can't just steal people and hurt them!"
Jin grabbed Taehyung back again. "I said stop it, before they take you too. Let hyung handle this."
Jin pulled his phone out and called manager Shik asking him to come meet them there and that it was urgent, he called the rest of the members to also meet him there, and finally, he called the police and told him he needed them there too. The more people he had to protest this the better. He was not leaving that building without his maknae.
The first to arrive were the police, quickly followed by the rest of the members, and then manager Shik.
"What the hell is going on?" Yoongi yelled as they all ran in and already saw the police and their manager there. The members were frantic.
"What happened? Where is Jungkookie? Is he okay?" Jimin asked with worried.
Taehyung ran to Jimin and hugged him. "They took him Jiminie! They won't give him back!" he cried. "They're going to hurt him here!"
"Hurt him? Who is going to hurt him?" Namjoon asked impatiently. He needed answers, and now.
Jin started talking a mile a minute explaining what they were dealing with, and the police also informed them that this isn't the first time they've been called for this same exact reason. Namjoon turned to manager Shik. "What the hell did you do?"
"I was unaware," Shik lied as he put his arms up in defense. He knew exactly what he had done, he was even looking forward it. He knew all about this place already and knew his appointment card would get Jungkook admitted. This was just another one of his 'fun games' he wanted to play with the youngest. He knew Jungkook wouldn't be released easily, and he'd probably suffer a little bit while in there, and that made Shik internally smile.
He loved making Jungkook's life miserable any chance he got, even if he wasn't the one physically doing the damage, he knew he could have his fun in other ways. He knew the members would catch on quickly and most likely get their maknae back quicker than most people got out, but he was still satisfied with the outcome.
"How were you unaware? I gave you the entire list of therapists to choose from. Do any of the therapists on that list even work here?" Namjoon asked Shik.
"No, I saw the website for this place and thought it would be good for him. I thought they'd provide their own therapists so I filled him out an appointment card. It was an honest mistake, I'm very sorry about getting him into this situation." Shik pretended to look just as upset as they were.
Jin turned back and forth between the receptionist and the police officer. "See! He isn't supposed to be here. So get him out, now!" he cried.
The police officer started demanding to the receptionist that she needed to contact security and bring Jungkook out, or he'd go get the damn kid himself. It was a tough situation considering the place was a private organization and technically did not have to follow public law, but the officer was also a decent human and knew the things they did in this facility were wrong. If they were really going to kidnap people and basically hold them hostage and hurt them, he had no problem kidnapping them right back. This isn't the first time he'd had to do it here.
Hobi and Yoongi were listening to the police and receptionist go back and forth and Hobi started crying. Yoongi rubbed his back. "We will get him out."
"Hyung what if they're hurting him? He's already been through so much, and now we've made it worse," Hobi cried into Yoongi's shoulder.
"If anyone hurts him I'll kill them," Yoongi told Hobi.
"I should have just made the appointment my damn self." Namjoon was trying not to yell at his boss, but right now he wasn't in the mood to show any form of respect. "You should have just taken the list I gave you and chosen from there. Why go out of your way? His own doctor gave us that list. You just made this worse for him." Namjoon was completely baffled that someone in a managerial position could make such a drastic mistake. This was the first time he actually felt angry with his boss.
"It was an accident," Shik replied. He didn't even care that Namjoon was being disrespectful, he liked seeing the members all worked up. They were all extremely angry, all of them going back and forth with the receptionist, while also yelling at manager Shik.
Shik kept apologizing over and over, as much as he enjoyed this, he also needed to make sure they fully believed it was an accident so they didn't try to fire him. He couldn't have fun torturing his favorite maknae if they fired him. He knew the members would be upset about it, but he was their boss so in the end they'd have no choice but to get over it. For now, he was enjoying the show.
The members and the police officer fought with the receptionist for what felt like hours before the officer finally decided to just help the members himself.
"What's his full legal name?" The officer asked.
"Jungkook. Jeon Jungkook but we just call him Jungkook," Jimin answered frantically.
The officer asked what he looked like and they gave his description.
"I will go get him for you." The officer fought his way past security and disappeared through the same door their maknae had disappeared behind. Everyone sat together and waited.
"So superhero's are real." Hobi spoke about the police officer who went in to steal their maknae back.
The members did nothing but nod. They were all too worked up and nervous, and angry at their manager. They may have been under the impression that Shik had done it completely on accident, but that didn't stop their anger. It was a very stupid mistake to make.
---
It had to have been hours that Jungkook sat on that little mattress holding his knees in his hands. He didn't have any form of a clock, or know what time it was, but he knew it had been quite a while considering it was getting dark outside the window. He wondered what was taking Jin and Taehyung so long to get him. They have to know therapy isn't supposed to take this long, how come they hadn't come for me yet? Why aren't they saving me yet?
He heard yelling coming from down the hallway and wondered if maybe it was them coming to get him. He perked up when the door to his room opened. "Hyungs?" he asked. Unfortunately he wasn't met with his hyungs, but security guards throwing another man into the room with him. The man was fighting tooth and nail trying to escape the guards but they were stronger. Jungkook froze in a silent fear as he watched the man also jump to his feet and try to claw his way out of the door. The man struggled for a bit but quickly gave up. Jungkook felt his heart skip a beat when the man turned to him and stared at him for a moment.
"She's coming," the man told Jungkook. He didn't respond, he really didn't feel like interacting with anyone else here.
"I said she's coming." The man started pacing frantically around the room. Jungkook wondered if maybe this man actually was crazy and his admittance wasn't a mistake.
"Who...who is coming?" Jungkook asked with a shaky voice. His fear was quickly taking over and he didn't realize his hand was clawing away at his skin under his shirt.
Unfortunately this time he didn't have access to his own belongings, so his fidget toy wasn't an option. He started scratching his stomach raw to the point it started bleeding.
"She's coming. She's coming." The man kept repeating as he paced around the room. He was also shaking pretty badly.
Jungkook stared at the man, he wasn't sure who he was talking about or if the man was even talking about a real person at this point. The man suddenly ran over to Jungkook and gripped his shoulders tightly. Jungkook tried to back away but was already sitting back against the wall.
"I said she's coming. For me, for you. She's coming," the man spat.
Jungkook tried to push the man away from him. "Sir, I don't know who you're talking about. Please leave me alone," he cried.
The man grabbed Jungkook's chin and held it tightly, forcing Jungkook to look at him. "She'll kill us. She's on her way to kill us."
Jungkook frantically stood up and pushed the guy back. "I said leave me alone!"
He ran over to the door and started banging on it. "Hello?! Let me out!" Where the hell are Jin and Taehyung?!?! His fear was quickly turning into anger and frustration. He couldn't understand why he'd already been trapped here for so long.
The man came over and grabbed both of his arms from behind and then turned Jungkook to face him.
"Stop touching me!" Jungkook screamed as he tried to push the man away.
The man wouldn't let go. "Do you want to die? She's coming!"
"No woman is coming to kill us! You're damn crazy!" Jungkook screamed as he continued to try and get out of the mans grip.
It quickly turned into a wrestling match as the man wouldn't let him go. They both fell to the floor and Jungkook let out a loud cry when he landed on his stomach, the bruises he had from Shik beating him the other day were still sore, and so were his bloody scratches. He looked down to realize his blood was now staining his shirt. Although it was a stupid hospital shirt, so he didn't really care.
He got out of the mans grip and ran back to the door and started banging on it. "Help! Please! Let me out! The man in here is crazy and I'm telling you I'm not supposed to be here!"
To his surprise, a security guard finally came and opened the door. Jungkook tried to make a run for it out of the room but he was caught in the guards grip. Another guard came in with a giant syringe filled with liquid. "Wait, no, please. I don't-" he stopped when he realized it wasn't for him.
The guard was going to the other man with it. The other man fought the guard but was quickly poked with the shot and immediately dropped onto the mattress on the other side of the room and was unconscious.
Jungkook looked at the security guard holding him, and with pleading and tear filled eyes whispered. "Can I please go home?" His voice had given out from all the screaming. Nobody answered him, he was pushed back onto his mattress and the guards left. He looked over at the man and then brought his knees back to his chest. He began sobbing.
Where are they? He kept asking himself. He wondered why he was here in the first place.
His sorrow turned to dread when paranoia kicked in and he started to wonder if maybe this wasn't an accident. Maybe he was supposed to be here. The more he thought about it, the more it started to make sense to him. His tears of fear quickly turned to tears of anger when he convinced himself his hyungs had done this to him on purpose.
They wanted me here. They lied to me. Namjoon gave Shik that list of therapists, and Shik made this appointment. They planned this. All of them. They knew. They're on Shik's side now.
They lied.
They lied.
They lied.
Jungkook hugged his knees to his chest even tighter. He thought about the fact that if he couldn't even trust his own hyungs anymore, he couldn't trust anyone. I have nobody anymore.
He wondered how they could do something like this to him. Do they really not care about me that much? Have the past almost 10 years been a complete lie? He wondered if he'd done something to them to deserve this, is it because of how I yelled at them during our previous fight? Do they have lingering anger I'm not aware of? A million thoughts raced through his head. Most of them being how and why.
He tried to shake out the bad thoughts racing through his head.
Stop it, Jungkook. They love you.
No they don't. They lied to you.
They love you.
No they don't. If they loved you, you wouldn't still be here.
He grabbed his hair in frustration and sobbed so hard he thought he was going to pass out. The idea of the people he cared about more than anything putting him in this situation broke his heart into a million pieces. He'd rather have Shik beat him a billion times over, or even kill him, than live a life where his hyungs didn't care about him anymore. He wanted the chance to apologize to them for whatever bad things he's done to make them this angry with him, but then thought that after something like this none of them deserved apologies. He realized he was starting to feel something towards his members he never thought would be humanly possible to feel towards them.
Hate.
I hate them.
He sat there wiping his tears and wondered what was supposed to happen next. Would they just go tell our fans I ran away? Will they tell our fans I was in a psych ward? Will they forget I exist and leave me in here forever?
His train of thought was broken when he heard more yelling down the hallway. He didn't expect it to be one of his hyungs this time.
He was caught off guard when he saw a cop open the door. "Are you Jeon Jungkook?"
Jungkook hesitated answering. He didn't know what this cop wanted and he didn't know what was supposed to come next for him in this place. He stared at the cop with very visible fear in his eyes.
The cop came over to him but he tried to back away. "It's okay." The cop offered his hand. "I'm here to get you out of here. Come with me."
Jungkook was confused but took the cops hand and stood up. The cop had a pretty firm grip, like he was not willing to let go. Jungkook wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. The cop turned to a security guard and demanded them to give Jungkook his own clothes back, because he was leaving for good.
One man brought him his stuff and the first thing Jungkook did was pull out his phone. He had a few missed calls and texts from Jin and Taehyung but he didn't even care to read them anymore. If he was being led back to his hyungs he wasn't sure how to react. He was so angry at them. All of them. The cop guided Jungkook through hallways, he recognized them as the same halls he had been dragged through earlier. He realized the cop was telling the truth, he actually was getting out.
As soon as he came through the door, he saw everyone standing there. His members, and his manager. His anger grew. Of course he'd be here. He stood there and stared at them in silence. He had nothing to say to them right now.
They turned to him when they heard the door open. It took them all a second to get over the shock of how bad Jungkook looked. His hair was all messed up, his eyes were bloodshot and swollen from all his crying, and his shirt was stained with blood, so was his right hand. He held his personal clothes in his hands. He had bruises on his arms from the security guards. More tears spilled out of his eyes. All of them ran to him and embraced him in a hug.
"I'm so sorry!" Jin cried.
"Are you okay? Who hurt you? Why are you bleeding?!"Jimin asked frantically.
All the members had a ton of questions and were shooting out apologies here and there. Taehyung had a death grip around Jungkook, fearing if he let him go he'd be taken away again.
"Tell me why you're bleeding. I'll kill whoever did this to you," Yoongi demanded. He looked over at the cop and smirked. As if to tell the cop "not actually, though."
It didn't take long for them to notice that Jungkook was completely silent, and wasn't hugging them back. All he was doing was releasing silent tears. They let him out of the hug and tried asking him more questions but he wouldn't answer anything.
"Did they drug you?!" Hobi asked frantically, thinking Jungkook would have been a little more happy to see that they had all come for him. Jungkook didn't reply.
He looked around at all his members and his manager in silence.
Namjoon stepped forward and went to gently grab Jungkook's arm but he frantically backed away. "Don't," was the only word that finally came out of their maknae's mouth.
"Don't what?" Namjoon asked confused.
Jungkook looked at all of his members and his manager again.
"Don't touch me."
