The Hands That Hurt Us- Part 19

Namjoon lay on his bed trying to stop his crying. His heart was absolutely heartbroken knowing that Jungkook thought they had planned to put him in danger. He was also heartbroken over the things his maknae had said. He knew deep down Jungkook could never truly hate them, but it sucked seeing him say it and act like it. He'd never seen him act out like that before, it was just another concern to add to the growing list.

And who the hell is making him think he's bad, or should be hit? Why would he think he deserves that kind of punishment?

His heart broke not only because of him, but also for him. He hated knowing his maknae was so full of pain and anxiety that he felt the need to feel and act the way that he was currently acting. He didn't understand why he didn't believe them when they told him they were unaware of their mistake. Even manager Shik told Jungkook it had been his fault and not theirs. Why didn't Jungkook believe our own manager?

Namjoon's anger towards his manager was still there, but it had subsided. Being under the impression that Shik also didn't know what he had done had eased his anger. It was all just an honest mistake.

He felt a stress headache come on as he also worried about Taehyung and how bad he was feeling. He hated seeing the two fight like they were. He wished he had a cure all solution but he knew the only one who was going to be able to solve the issue between them was Jungkook himself, and it didn't seem like Jungkook cared to forgive anyone or apologize to anyone anytime soon.

He felt like he was failing as a leader seeing two members of his team fall apart like this. He began to fall into a spiral of more anxiety as he wondered if Taehyung was also going to refuse to eat now, and worrying about when Jungkook would eat again, or how they're supposed to work as a team when they were fractured like this. He knew that unfortunately there wasn't much he could do about anything right now.

He needed Jungkook to calm down first or come to his senses on his own and realize he was wrong about them. It hurt being accused of things he hadn't done. And it especially hurt hearing that they had all been disowned as hyungs. Namjoon became too exhausted after all this anxiety and told himself these were all battles for another day as he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

The morning was quiet. The only people awake were Namjoon, Jin, and Yoongi. Jin and Yoongi had started breakfast as Namjoon sat at the kitchen table ready to continue reading one of his books. He'd become a lot more invested now trying to figure out Jungkook's problem.

"He said we aren't his hyungs anymore? He just hates us all now? Well that's rude. He does realize Taehyung and I fought tooth and nail to save him, right?" Jin scoffed.

"I'm sure he didn't mean it," Namjoon suggested.

"Mean it or not, still. He's being mean. Especially to Tae, who doesn't even deserve it," Yoongi added in, "I love the kid to death but how long are we supposed to live like this?"

"He'll come around," Namjoon replied.

"How do you know?" Jin asked.

Namjoon held his psychology book in the air and gestured to it. "Just trust me, he will."

Hobi and Jimin both entered into the kitchen, Hobi began complimenting his hyungs on how good breakfast smelled.

"Taehyung isn't awake yet?" Namjoon asked.

"He's sulking," Jimin said, pouting.

When they had woken up Jimin had tried cheering Taehyung up again but he was being stubborn too and said he'd like to be left alone and that he wasn't hungry for breakfast anyways. Jimin was worried considering now his dongsaeng didn't have dinner last night or want breakfast either.

"And Jungkook?" Jimin asked nobody in particular.

"I don't think he's awake yet," Jin answered.

Jimin walked to the maknae's room to wake him up, thankfully the door was unlocked. Jungkook was awake but he was staring blankly at the ceiling.

"Breakfast is almost ready," Jimin told him.

Jungkook didn't acknowledge his presence in the slightest, he didn't even spare him a look.

"You're not talking to me?" Jimin asked with sadness in his voice.

Jungkook pulled his blanket over his head and turned to face the other way. He didn't want to talk to anybody.

"Whatever. Don't talk to me. But just so you know, Taehyung can't eat now because of you so until you figure out how to fix this he's probably going to starve." Jimin thought maybe he could guilt trip his maknae a little bit into going and apologizing.

"Let him," Jungkook replied sternly from under the blanket. He knew exactly what Jimin was trying to do and he wasn't going to fall for it. He didn't actually want Taehyung to starve but he wanted to stand his ground and continue to let everyone know how angry he still was at them.

"Jungkook!" Jimin yelled angrily.

Jin heard him yell and came in. "Now what?"

Jimin ignored his hyung and stomped past him out of the room.

Jin gave him a questioning look as he stomped by before turning to Jungkook, "So...I hear we aren't your hyungs anymore and you hate us all now, or something along those lines?"

Jungkook didn't move a muscle or say anything, he continued to stay under his blanket. Jin walked over and pulled it off him, only succeeding after the youngest put up a fight and tried clinging to it.

"Why are you acting like this? It's not you," Jin asked.

Jungkook didn't even know himself why he was still acting the way he was. He just knew he was angry and this was the result of it. He shrugged in response.

"You're telling me you don't know?" Jin asked, standing at the side of his bed.

Jungkook shrugged again.

"Well then you have a choice to make. If you're going to sit here and hate all of us, do you even want to be in this band anymore?" Jin asked while crossing his arms.

Jungkook felt his heart seize and he sat up in a panic. "Yeah." For him there was no question about it, of course he wanted to be in the band. The band was his entire life. It was all he knew.

"Then act like it. What kind of team is this supposed to be if you're acting like this?" Jin asked. This was one of the first times he'd ever gotten stern with Jungkook. He was usually always easy going with his maknae, but right now the damn kid was stressing him out.

"I...I don't know," Jungkook answered. He hadn't quite thought of the band aspect until now. He'd been so busy being angry with everyone he didn't think of how it would actually effect them working together.

"Well like I said, figure it out," Jin turned to leave and Jungkook noticed he was taking the blanket with him.

"Jin that's mine," Jungkook gestured to the blanket.

"I believe Hobi bought this for our maknae. And if we aren't your hyungs, I guess you're not our maknae either, are you? Let us know when our maknae comes back, and then maybe I'll give it back to you." Jin left before giving Jungkook enough time to argue about it. He figured if Jungkook was going to act like a child, then he was going to treat him like one. Which apparently meant having to take his stuff from him.

Jin felt a bit guilty doing it, wondering if he was maybe being a bit too harsh after everything Jungkook had been through, but at the same time he knew none of them deserved the disrespect they were getting from him either and he didn't want Jungkook to think it was okay. He went and put the blanket back in Hobi's room after explaining why he took it. Hobi didn't seem to mind the idea either.

Jungkook lay back down and buried his face into his pillow, crying. He wondered how many tears a human could actually produce because he had no idea how he alone could produce so many. He felt like Jin was proving to him that they truly did hate him. He wasn't used to them being stern to him, it didn't feel right. Everything felt all wrong. He hated his hyungs, and he thought his hyungs hated him back. He wondered what that meant moving forward as a band. He wondered why Jin asked him if he wanted to be in it.

What if he had said no? Would Jin not have cared? Would Jin want him gone? He asked himself why he'd want to be in a band with people he hated and the only answers he could come up with were because he loved his fans way too much to leave them, and because he had nothing else. He lay there staring at the wall getting lost in his own head.

In the kitchen, Taehyung had finally come out to join everyone. Although he claimed he only wanted some water and wasn't hungry even though everyone knew that was a lie.

"How are you?" Yoongi walked over and placed his hand on Taehyung's shoulder. The boy shrugged in response.

"If it's any consolation, Jungkook confirmed that he's disowned all of us as hyungs. So it's not just you he doesn't care about , apparently its all of us. So there's that," Hobi told Taehyung.

Taehyung took a sip of his water as he joined everyone at the table. "Oh?"

"That's what he told me anyway," Namjoon started, "However I did want to bring something up with you guys about something else he said that has me a bit worried."

"Like telling us we aren't his hyungs anymore isn't concern enough?" Yoongi asked.

"He said some...other...kind of odd...things...too," Namjoon started again. "Now I am in no way accusing or blaming anyone here, but as a leader and hyung I do need to just confirm something." Everyone turned their full attention to him, curious about what was coming next.

Namjoon looked around at everyone. "I don't know why, but last night he was trying to make me hit him. I literally mean he was straight up telling me that he's a bad maknae and that he's supposed to get hit for it."

"What the hell?" Jimin interrupted.

"Now, again I'm not accusing any of us but I do need to explore every reason he may have said that. It's okay to be honest. Has anyone here ever told him he's bad, or that he deserves to be hit, or has actually hit him because they were angry with him? Whether it was recently or even a long time ago?" Namjoon looked around at the rest of his members. Everyone looked around at each other and agreed in unison that none of them had ever said or done something like that to him.

"You didn't hit him last night did you?" Hobi asked with concern in his voice.

"No, no of course not. I told him he was clearly tired and to just go back to bed. Anyways, I figured it wasn't any of us, which leads me to my next question. Has anyone seen someone else ever say something or do something bad to him? Whether at work or on the street or literally anywhere?"

The members looked around at each other and once again agreed in unison that they hadn't.

"However," Yoongi started, "we all know people say stuff online, about all of us. Maybe he read something somewhere that bothered him. But trust me I've really looked into it and there isn't anything different that people are saying that aren't things he, and all of us, haven't seen and read a million times. Things that have never bothered him."

"I guess that's a start. Maybe he did see something online. I really don't know. I just don't understand what or who is instilling thoughts like that into him. It's only been recent and I just can't think of what changed," Namjoon hung his head in defeat. "And it doesn't help that every time we ask him he just tells us he's fine or that there isn't a problem. It's becoming too obvious that he's lying."

"Well if something really is going on, why would he hide it? And lie? We have told him so many times he can come to us with anything and he knows we would protect him from anything. Why would he lie?" Jimin asked sadly.

Jungkook was one of the most honest people he knew, which meant if his maknae was lying about something there had to be a huge reason for it.

"I don't know guys," Namjoon sighed. "But I just wanted to bring this up with you. I know he's being a jerk at the moment but I know we all still love him. I'm just trying to figure out what's going on, because it has to be something. Maybe I'll also snoop around online to see if there's anything he may have stumbled across that upset him."

Yoongi got up and walked to Namjoon, placing his hand on his shoulder and squeezing it. "You really are the best leader. Please never think otherwise." Namjoon smiled at his hyung. Although he definitely didn't feel like the best leader, it was nice to hear it.

The members dispersed from breakfast and decided to spend their day off doing their own things. A few hours had passed when Jungkook was surprised to see Taehyung walk into their room. Jungkook had been in bed all day, he didn't see any reason to get out of it. He watched as Taehyung didn't look at or say a single word to him, but went over and started taking all of his clothes out of his dresser.

Jungkook couldn't hold back his curiosity. "What are you doing?"

"Leaving," Taehyung replied sharply.

"What?"

"I'm moving out of this room."

A wave of sadness rolled through Jungkook. He and Taehyung had been roommates since they had met. They lived in a big enough house where they all could have their own room if they wanted, but Jungkook and Taehyung had always agreed to stay together.

"Why?" Jungkook asked, trying to hide the sadness in his voice. He didn't even understand why he felt so sad all of the sudden.

"Because I'm not wanted here." Taehyung continued to pack his stuff up without sparing Jungkook a single glance. Jungkook wasn't sure how to respond, so he kept quiet and silently watched his hyung finish gathering most of his things.

"Hy...erm...Taehyung, where are you going to stay?" Jungkook finally asked.

"Jiminie said him and I can share a room now."

But you're supposed to share a room with me...

"Oh. Okay," Jungkook responded. They were interrupted when Namjoon came in saying that their manager called and told them they had to come back in to work tomorrow.

"But he said a few days," Taehyung replied.

"He changed his mind. He said we have fallen too behind schedule and he needs us back," Namjoon turned to Jungkook, "so you need to get your act together, because we are back at work tomorrow."

Jungkook silently nodded in response and Namjoon left the room without further comment. Namjoon was a bit surprised that Jungkook didn't start fighting with him all over again.

Jungkook filled with panic and anxiety knowing they were going back to work tomorrow. He thought he'd be allowed a little more time before having to deal with his manager again. He was also anxious seeing Taehyung finish packing up. He had spent the previous night alone in their room and would be lying if he said he enjoyed it. He wasn't going to admit it to Taehyung but he had gotten lonely without him. Seeing him about to move out for good was painful, but he felt like their relationship was too broken anyways so asking him to stay wouldn't have worked.

Taehyung picked everything up and left the room in silence. The two didn't speak a word to each other. After Taehyung was out the door, Jungkook stared at it and wiped the tears that had escaped. "Please don't leave," he whispered toward the door. He looked at the now empty other half of his room and realized it was too late.

The rest of the evening and the night remained uneventful. Everyone continued to do their own thing until they went to bed. Jungkook didn't get an ounce of sleep. He was too afraid to even try, especially after his last nightmare. Not having his weighted blanket or his hyung in his room left him feeling way too vulnerable.

He knew not sleeping was going to mess up work the next day but that wasn't enough to make him get some rest. He stared into the darkness until the sun came up and he heard everyone else begin to shuffle around the house and get ready. He got up too, just because he now had to work with people he...hated...didn't mean he had to be unprofessional about it.

The drive to the studio was silent. Everyone was tired and quite frankly, everyone was pretty depressed. They couldn't ignore the fact that having problems at home was going to affect their work too.

They quickly gathered into the dance studio and Hobi went into dance leader mode, but he was getting frustrated by how often everyone kept messing up. It was definitely obvious that they truly were way out of practice and falling behind. It had also been impossible for them to work as a team. Jungkook wouldn't talk to anybody, Taehyung wouldn't even look up from the ground no matter what dance moves they were doing. Namjoon was constantly lost in thought.

Manager Shik came in and wanted to watch them practice, he had become just as unsatisfied as Hobi when he noticed how much everyone was lacking.

"I gave you guys time off to regroup. What is happening? What's the issue here? I know you are all a way better team than this," Shik started pacing back and forth in front of the members.

Jungkook made sure to keep his gaze at the floor.

"Well Jungkook hates us all now so that has us a little bit messed up," Jimin blurted out. Jimin was mad at Jungkook and had no problem admitting why. Jungkook felt his entire body go stiff. What the fuck Jimin.

Jungkook saw Shik's feet standing right in front of him.

"Jungkook?" Shik asked.

Jungkook didn't move a muscle or pick his head up. Shik looked around at everyone and also noticed Taehyung had his head down too. Shik decided to walk over to Taehyung instead, and Jungkook finally lifted his gaze to keep his eyes on his manager.

Shik bent down to make eye contact with Taehyung. "Is that what is wrong with you too? Are you being all pouty because of Jungkook?"

Taehyung shrugged his shoulders. Shik took his hand and gently grabbed Taehyung's chin and lifted it to look at him. Jungkook didn't know it was possible to feel the type of raging fire that burned through his body. Get your filthy abusive ass hands off Taehyungie! Jungkook was internally screaming.

Shik wasn't hurting Taehyung in the slightest, he was actually being extremely gentle and looked like he was concerned, but Jungkook knew it was a facade and he knew Shik was having a field day. Jungkook knew that Shik was aware of how bothered he would get seeing him touch any of his hyungs.

"Cheer up, Tae," Shik said and smiled.

Shik let go of Taehyung and walked back to Jungkook, gesturing to the door. "May I speak with you?" he asked.

Jungkook refused to move. He was in no mood to be beaten up right now. Shik gestured to the door again. "Jungkook, seriously."

The maknae still didn't move a muscle.

Namjoon walked over to him. "Kook-ah...just because you're being disrespectful to us at home does not mean you can be disrespectful to our boss. He is our boss, just go talk to him."

Jungkook looked around at all his members and could see them all staring impatiently at him. His heart broke. They probably know he's about to beat me and are waiting for it to happen.

Jungkook dropped his shoulders and slowly made his way out the door behind his manager, following him into a private room. He tried to brace for the beating he knew was about to come. However he was surprised after seeing Shik turn towards him and not lift a finger.

"What the hell are you doing to my team? You're all an absolute mess." Shik crossed his arms.

"I...they...they hate me. So I hate them back," Jungkook started but was interrupted by a swift smack across his face. There it is.

"You really are a complete fuckin idiot aren't you?" Shik yelled. Jungkook stood silent. Apparently.

"Why do you think they hate you? Did they say that?" Shik was curious about what had happened after he left the hospital the other day.

The last he knew, Jungkook was blaming his hyungs for what happened and Shik was excited to see the band fracture. However Shik quickly realized how badly that was affecting many things. The band was behind, people were getting angry about it. People were getting angry at Shik about it. He realized as much as he loved seeing Jungkook fight with them at first, he hadn't quite considered the consequences of them being fractured as a team. He needed them to get along.

"Did they say that to you or not, Jungkook?" Shik asked again. Jungkook stared at the ground and shook his head no.

"But you said it to them?" Shik asked. Jungkook hated the interrogation he was under. He shook his head yes.

"You said it to all of them? The fuck is Taehyung so depressed for if you said it to all of them together?"

"I said it to Taehyung first. He's really sensitive and I-I-" Jungkook frowned and was whispering his answers towards the floor. Admitting everything out loud was making him feel much, much worse.

"So you just out of nowhere told Taehyung, and then the others, you hate them? Why? Is it because of what happened at the hospital?"

Jungkook nodded his head yes. Shik couldn't help but laugh.

"So if you're telling me you hate them all...then pick one. Pick any one," Shik began.

"What?" Jungkook looked up.

"Just pick one. If you hate all of them so much pick any one of them."

"For what?"

Shik started taking his belt off and Jungkook scurried backwards.

"Because you should have no problem with me hurting one of them." Shik held up the belt and smiled. "So which one? Or if you can't pick one I'll pick one for you."

Jungkook was panicking. He didn't want any of them getting hurt.

"No. You said you would only ever hurt one of them if I told them about you, and I haven't done that. That's not fair."

"Hobi? Jimin? Or since Taehyung is in there pouting his life away maybe he'd be the best option. I'm sure a good beating would wake him up a bit," Shik laughed.

Jungkook took a step forward towards Shik, "Leave my hyungs alone. They haven't done anything to you. Just beat me instead if you have to." Jungkook couldn't deny that he would do absolutely anything to protect any of them. Even if it meant getting hurt.

"But you hate them, why can't I beat one? I promise it'll be fun to watch. Wait here maknae, I'll go get Taehyung!" Shik turned towards the door but Jungkook threw himself forward and grabbed his managers arm.

"Stop it! Leave him alone!" Jungkook screamed, "He didn't do anything wrong!"

Shik stopped and turned towards Jungkook. "Ding ding ding! Would you look at that, you got one thing right for once in your stupid life!"

"What?"

"Taehyung didn't do anything wrong. None of them did."

"I'm not understanding..."

"Yeah, because you're a complete moron. You're blaming them for what happened at the hospital, and I can't believe I'm even admitting this but in all honesty they had nothing to fucking do with it. I knew you were stupid but holy shit, Jungkook."

Jungkook froze. "Why would I believe you? You do nothing but lie."

"I do lie, yes. However this stupid fighting you're doing is ruining shit for me. I have a team to lead and you're ruining my team. I can't believe you actually think your own stupid little hyungies or whatever the fuck you call them would put you in danger."

"They did," Jungkook whispered. He felt himself quickly falling into denial. Them knowing what they were doing to me has to be true because if it's not...I've been terrible for no reason...I hurt them all for no reason...

"Namjoon got a paper with therapists names, that he got from your doctor, and handed me the paper asking me to make the appointment so I could figure out the schedule. And I will tell you I knew exactly what I had done to you. I had quite a fun time with it too, if I must say. However, I didn't think you'd be so dumb to think they did anything to you on purpose."

Jungkook stood there not knowing what to say. Shik stepped forward and gave him a hard push, making him stumble backwards a few steps. Jungkook felt the tears begin flooding out of his eyes, "They-they actually didn't know?"

Shik walked up to Jungkook and gripped his face tightly. "No you goddamn dumbass. They didn't fucking know. So you need to fix this damn problem that you started."

Jungkook felt an invisible weight beginning to completely crush him.

They really didn't know.
