Chapter Fourteen: Internships
A/N: Sorry this one is so choppy (it was like that in the anime too) I wanted to add a few minor internship moments and have the hero killer arc all in one chapter :) Which I will try to get to sometime this week ^-^
"We're interning, where?!" Nikita hissed, her ears were flattened back against her head in rage and her solid black tail was puffed up as she folded her arms across her chest and fixed Shoto with a glare causing the rest of their classmates around the foot lockers to look at them in awe.
Shoto ignored her outburst and proceeded to put his school slippers into his foot locker and change into his street shoes. "My dad's agency." He shrugged.
"Why?!" Nikita whined and dramatically flopped on the floor at his feet causing a small smile to worm its way onto the stoic boy's lips.
"He is the number two hero, it might pay off to learn from him. It doesn't mean we have to be nice or like him." Shoto noted sensibly as he leaned forward to pick up the dramatic cat girl who was currently in everyone's way as she sprawled on the floor.
"But... why?" Nikita groaned and attempted to roll on the floor but let out a cute squeak as she was lifted off the ground. "Sho-chan, it's going to be annoying! He's going to be mean! I'm not responsible for going beast mode and biting anyone if he makes me mad!"
"You can bite whoever you want." Shoto shrugged as he tossed the seemingly liquid cat girl over his shoulder. "How do you do this?" He chuckled, "It's like you don't have any bones." It was a struggle to keep her on his shoulder.
"Kitty power!" Nikita giggled.

Nikita shifted her weight nervously from foot to foot as she gathered with the rest of class 1A at the station. She hated transportation. They were all being sent off to spend a week interning with their hero mentors.
"You okay, Niko?" Shoto asked her curiously as he noticed her shifting her weight nervously and her tail flick. She was upset about something.
"I don't like traveling." She mumbled as Mr. Aizawa tried to get everyone's attention.
"Everyone has their costumes, right?" Mr. Aizawa inquired in a monotone with his hands shoved into his pockets as he addressed the class. "Remember, you don't have permission to wear them out in public, yet and don't lose them or anything."
"Gotcha!" Mina cheered happily hugging her costume case.
"Speak properly, its 'yes, sir' Ashido." Mr. Aizawa sighed.
"Yes, sir." Mina moped.
"Make sure you mind your manners with the other heroes during your internships. Now get to it." He dismissed the class.
"Yes, sir." The entire class responded in unison.
Nikita trailed after Shoto clinging to his messenger bag so they wouldn't get separated in the busy train station. They were on their way to Endeavor's agency's main office. She scrambled to keep up with his determined strides. Shoto was tenser than usual, they both were. Neither of them was looking forward to their internship.

They arrived at a giant black skyrise building just as the sun began to set and were led to Endeavor's gigantic office by his secretary. It seemed like a giant empty space, there was a small sitting area in the center with a giant crystal chandelier overhead and a giant executive desk a little way beyond it. The wall across from the double doors leading into the office was entirely covered in windows flooding the room with natural light.
"I've been waiting for you, Shoto." Endeavor stood dramatically behind his desk facing away from the pair, did he not know that Nikita had come along too? "You're finally ready to walk down the path of the mighty." He turned around to face the duo and his eyes widened as he spotted the cat girl clinging to Shoto's messenger bag. "I see you've brought your little pet." He frowned.
Nikita hissed, her tail bristled and puffed out and her ears folded backward. Shoto held his hand in front of her keeping himself between his father and the cat girl before addressing his father coolly. "I have no intention of following any path you've created. Only I can decide my future and Niko will be a part of it whether you like it or not so I suggest you get used to having her around."
"Heh. Is that So?" Endeavor smirked seeming almost thrilled by his son's defiant attitude, "You two should go get ready. We're going out." He indicated their school uniforms.
"Where to?" Shoto asked curiously.
"It's time I show you what it means to be a hero." Endeavor dismissed the pair to change into their hero costumes.
Nikita trailed after Shoto in the direction of the bathroom and reluctantly left his side to go to the women's restroom to change into her costume. She changed quickly and bolted out of the bathroom just as Shoto exited the men's restroom. He threw her a curious look as she scrambled to his side and clung to his arm trying to hide her half naked body behind him.
"What are you doing?" Shoto chuckled.
"I forgot my cloak." She groaned, "Now, I feel naked."
Shoto smiled and paused in the middle of the spacious hallway before reaching into his messenger bag. He withdrew a zip up sweatshirt from his bag and handed it over to her. "Wear this."
Nikita pulled it over her head, the hood flopped over covering her ears and falling over her eyes. It was too big but it was warm and smelled like Shoto enveloping her in his scent. She giggled softly to herself as she pushed up the sleeves in an attempt to get her hands free. Her bright golden eyes flicked upward peering out from beneath the hood of his sweatshirt to find Shoto staring down at her, his face reddening. She looked adorable drowning in his sweatshirt.
He reached out to pat her on the head and chuckled softly as her knees buckled, her cheeks flushed scarlet and a cute purr escaped her as he brushed her ears with his hand. "Sorry." Shoto smiled as he offered her a hand up, "I couldn't resist."
"That's not very nice, Sho-chan." Nikita pouted adorably on the floor as she hid her blushing face behind her silken sheets of raven hair. She accepted the hand he offered her to help her up and followed him to Endeavor's office.
....................................................................................
After a long night of patrolling with Endeavor and grueling training, Nikita and Shoto returned to the room that had been prepared for them within the giant agency. They were given separate rooms but upon seeing each of their rooms was the size of a small two-bedroom apartment decided to share one instead.
Nikita flopped onto the foot of Shoto's bed across his legs overtop of the blankets causing him to smile. "What are you doing, Niko?"
"I don't like this building, I don't want to sleep in my own room." She whined.
Shoto tossed her a spare pillow, "Either get under the blankets or go get a blanket from the spare bedroom so you don't get sick."
Nikita sidled under the blankets draping her legs over Shoto's. "Goodnight Sho-chan." She yawned as she hugged the pillow he'd thrown her.
"Goodnight, Niko." Shoto said softly as he peered down at the cat girl laying across the foot of his bed and resisted the urge to laugh as her soft fluffy tail brushed across his feet as she tried to get comfortable. He was grateful she decided to intern with him. He wasn't sure if he'd have been able to handle training under his father again without her presence.
