Chapter Twenty One: Training Camp Pt 1.
"Do you have everything you need?" Craven asked the half asleep cat girl as he picked up her duffel bag.
Nikita mumbled something partially coherent.
"What was that?" Craven chuckled and reached out with his free hand to steady her as she nearly walked into a wall. She did not do well with early mornings.
"Too early!" Nikita whined.
Craven sighed. "Eventually you're going to need to become a morning person when you become a Pro Hero." He chuckled.
"Nope." Nikita shook her head, "most crime happens after dinnertime." She paused as she realized that rhymed before giggling.
Craven laughed and steered her out of her apartment before swiping her keys so he could lock her door. He tucked her keys into her duffel bag and carried it and the sleepy cat girl down to his car. "We got some time before we have to be at the school, you want breakfast?"
"FISH MARKET!" Nikita cheered.
Craven chuckled, "alright. Strange breakfast choice but whatever." He deposited her into the passenger seat of his car before setting her bag in the backseat.
It didn't take long for them to arrive at the nearest fish market. There were dozens of vendors with freshly caught fish laying out on pallets of ice for purchase. Nikita perked up at the smell of fresh fish. A particularly delectable aroma wafted toward her and she zoomed away.
"Hey!" Craven groaned as the cat girl vanished. He sighed and got out of the car before running off in the direction she'd disappeared in.
He found her at a salmon stand ogling the freshly caught salmon with stars in her eyes. Craven shook his head as Nikita let out a cute little purr as she explored the pallets of salmon trying to find the perfect one. Once she found it she immediately chomped into the side of it with glee and brought it over to the fisherman to purchase it.
Craven held back a laugh as the fisherman stared at the cat like girl warily as she approached him with fish in mouth like a housecat bringing him a dead mouse as a present. "Uh? I don't think that's very safe to do." The fisherman frowned.
Craven shook his head as Nikita tried to talk with the fish still in her mouth, he sighed and shooed her off back to the car. He paid for the salmon and reassured the concerned fisherman she'd be fine, "honestly she's more cat than human, it's fine." He chuckled as he ran after her.
Nikita tore into the salmon in the middle of the fish market receiving quite a few strange looks.
"Wait till we get to the car at least." Craven laughed.
"Nom, nom, fishie." NIkita purred happily.
"So strange." Craven laughed and steered her back to the car.
"Thanks for fishie." Nikita grinned as she finished stuffing her face and chucked the remaining skeleton into a nearby trash receptacle.
"You're welcome." Craven ruffled her hair affectionately.
"Okie, nap time." Nikita stretched before curling into a ball in the passenger seat once they reached the car.
"Hey, you need to stay awake until we get to the school, then you're Mr. Aizawa's problem." He poked at her.
Nikita grumbled back at him incoherently and closed her eyes as she drifted off for a catnap. She awoke momentarily as she felt Craven shake her. He somehow got her on her feet long enough to get a hug goodbye and send her off to the bus to take her and the rest of her class to training camp. She only made it a few steps before she bumped into something squishy and warm and she fell asleep leaning against whatever it was.
When she finally woke up with a big stretch and a yawn she found herself on a bus lying in a seat with her head resting in Shoto's lap. "Sho-chan!" She grinned.
Shoto smiled at the cat like girl, "how was your nap?"
"Perfect." Nikita beamed as she stretched further, sprawling across his lap, "Sho-chan is the most comfy."
Shoto's cheeks reddened a little and he avoided meeting her gaze.
Nikita glanced around and realized they were the only two on the bus. "Where did everyone go?" She asked curiously as she finally sat up. The bus was stopped.
"To stretch their legs, we've been on the bus for hours." Shoto smiled as he noticed her hair sticking up at odd angles. He chuckled softly and smoothed it down. His hand accidentally grazed her insanely soft ears and a cute little purr escaped her before a shiver rolled down her spine and she moved away from him quickly, her face turning a bright shade of red.
"Sho-chan!" She whined.
"Accident." He held his hands up for peace.
"I don't believe you." Nikita pouted.
"Come on." He held his hand out to her as he got to his feet.
She reluctantly placed her hand in his and followed him off the bus. It was parked atop a dirt covered cliff alongside the road, meant for cars to pull over on, probably to take pictures of the gorgeous view of the mountains and forest beyond.
Nikita wandered to the edge of the cliff and stood next to the railing to look out at the amazing view. Shoto smiled faintly watching as her face lit up with excitement and wonder. They noticed their classmates gathering around Mr. Aizawa near the bus and went to join them thinking the break was over.
"You don't think we stopped here just so you could stretch your legs, do you?" Mr. Aizawa asked seriously.
Nikita and Shoto exchanged curious looks before a voice sounded from the other car parked in the lot.
"Heya Eraser."
"Long time no see." Mr. Aizawa bowed in greeting.
"Your feline fantasies are here. Say, 'meow'." A woman with short dark brown hair wearing a pink and white almost sailor like uniform with fake metallic cat ears and a fake cat tail posed with her fake kitty cat paw gloves.
"Purrfectly cute and cat-like girls!" A blonde wearing a blue and white sailor style uniform with a fake cat tail and fake metallic cat ears posed beside her before they spoke in unison.
"You can call us the Wild Wild Pussycats!" They posed ridiculously.
Several of Nikita's classmates snickered and looked to her for her reaction. Shoto held back a laugh and glanced at her.
"...uhh...I feel like I should be offended...Mr. Aizawa is this considered cultural appropriation?" Nikita asked as her tail flicked in annoyance.
Mr. Aizawa shook his head and laughed silently before straightening up, "these are the Pro Heroes you'll be working with at the summer training camp."
Midoriya started buzzing excitedly, "they're a four person hero team who specialize in mountain rescues! The Pussycats were founded when we were kids, like forever ago-!"
At this the two women blanched and let out panicked gasps.
"This marks their 12th year working as a-." Midoriya continued excitedly only for his words to fall away as the blonde's fake kitty cat paw clawed cat glove suddenly covered his face.
"I'm pretty sure your math must be off." She growled. " I'm 18 at heart." She added in a cuter sounding voice.
"Understood." Midoriya squeaked, his voice muffled by the glove.
After some quick introductions, the blonde Pixie-Bob tried to tackle Nikita, "Oh my goodness! Aren't you just the cutest little thing, you should definitely join us once you graduate you'd be a perfect fi-."
"No thanks, I already have plans." Nikita grumbled and easily flitted far away from her.
"Aw, someone else has already snatched you up?" Pixie-Bob pouted.
"Yep, I'll only work with Sho-chan." Nikita pointed, causing Shoto's cheeks to redden.
Mandalay, the brunette, pointed out to the vast area of forest and mountains, " we own this whole stretch of land out here. Everything you can see. The summer camp you're staying at is there at the base of the mountain. Since we're on private land, you all can use your quirks to your heart's content." She pointed far off into the distance.
"Uh. Then why did we stop all the way up here instead?" Uraraka asked the question all of the students had been thinking.
"I'm afraid we both know the answer to that." Asui replied grimly.
"That can't be right." Sato replied nervously as a bead of sweat began to form on his forehead.
Sero laughed nervously, "Um. Back on the bus." He and a few others began inching toward the bus. "Quick, let's go."
"Good idea. Load up." Kaminari joined in the nervous laughter and headed toward the bus.
"The current time is 9:30 in the morning, if you're fast about it you might make it by noon." Mandalay said with a creepy smile.
"No way! Guys!" Kirishima started to panic.
"Holy crap!" Ashido squealed.
"Save yourselves!" Kirishima cried dramatically and everyone bolted toward the bus.
Nikita sighed, "it's too early." Her body shifted into the giant sabertooth tiger beast so her classmates could climb on and be safe from whatever was about to happen.
"Niko!" Shoto groaned as her clothes shredded and fell away from her body.
"Kitties who don't make it there by 12:30 won't get any lunch." Mandalay giggled.
"You should have guessed, students." Mr. Aizawa said in an eerily calm voice as everyone else raced for the bus save for Shoto who was leaning against the giant cat beast waiting for whatever they were going to throw at them, "the training camp has already begun."
Pixie-Bob blocked everyone's escape and activated her quirk causing the ground beneath them to break apart and all of them to get hurled over the side of the cliff.
"If you can't land on your own, grab hold of Niko!" Shoto yelled to their classmates as everyone began to plummet to the ground.
Nikita spotted a flailing floating uniform in front of her and realized it was Toru. She bit the back of her shirt knowing the invisible girl would have a harder time landing than most of their classmates. Mineta, Kaminari, Sato, Aoyama and Koda desperately reached for Nikita. She managed to catch Jiro and Yaoyorozu in her tail and everyone else was able to land with relative ease. The giant cat beast landed lightly on her feet before gently setting her friends down on the ground.
"You've got three full hours. You should be able to make it to the facility in that time. That is, if you can make it through the Beast's forest." Mandalay yelled down at them.
"We got a beast of our own." Kirishima laughed and indicated the giant cat beast.
Mineta took off into the forest with a squeal to look for a place to pee. His path was blocked by a giant monster made of dirt root and rocks. He let out a panicked yelp.
Sero and Kaminari screamed in panic, "AH! We're all gonna die!"
Nikita let out a loud roar and the dirt monster exploded.
"Nikita really is the best." Ashido giggled as she hugged her giant furred leg, "and so soft and warm and we get free rides if we get tired."
Nikita let out a faint purr to let them know that was fine with her if anyone got tired from their trek.
More monsters began to pop up out of the ground to block their path and they all jumped into action coordinating attacks and working together to defeat the seemingly endless stream of dirt monsters. They definitely didn't make it to the training camp by 12:30.
It wasn't until nearly 5:30 that they emerged from the forest exhausted from their trek. Nikita had managed to stay in her beast form for the duration and was currently carrying all of her exhausted classmates save for Bakugo who refused her help. She stumbled into the training camp and collapsed onto the ground. Everyone scrambled off of her and Shoto hurriedly pulled off his shirt as he noticed her body beginning to shift.
"Hot!" Kaminari and Mineta remarked with nosebleeds.
Shoto managed to get his shirt around her before anyone could see anything before blushing as she collapsed against him, unconscious. "Niko?"
Yaoyorozu hurriedly created a blanket and draped it around Nikita. "Is she alright?"
Shoto breathed a sigh of relief as Nikita let out a faint snore and began drooling on his shoulder. "She's fine." He wrapped the blanket around her so she was completely covered from prying eyes before sweeping her into his arms.
They all filed into the facility. Ashido and Yaoyorozu grabbed Shoto and Nikita's bags for them since Shoto was carrying a sleeping Nikita. Shoto dropped Nikita off in the girl's room leaving her in Yaoyorozu's care before taking his bag and heading to the boys' room.
