Part 4 Vol. 5
The Bellows and the PHA folks finished building their new farmer's market and as they were packing up, Dixie sent Wink'n off to CG's with a batch of custom made jam she thought was for CM.
Back at the homestead Frank and Hugh had finished digging a new well that Sue fancied as a wishing well, and as promised, Frank continued with Sue's reading lessons.
A new newsprint edition hit the streets - four huge sections that poor Little Ron could barely carry as he delivered them. There was news about Chester Kanga and his fight with 3Gun. The fact that Shamus had taken a job as grave digger. Coverage of the forge fire and Dusty's accident.
A grand piece about the new church bells provided by Petra Swage, Hugh Bellows and residents of the PHA. (An extra bonus, not in the paper) was the fact that their boy Blink had returned home safe and sound.
There was a single section on the upcoming nuptials for Myna Darkly and Lorne Order and a replica of their wedding invitation/announcement. Another section was devoted to an ad for the new market and a call from the mayor for workers to begin fixing the stables, the old blacksmith's shop and a new water tower.
The last section was an announcement of the, soon to open, Black Diamond Forge that would occupy the renovated blacksmith's shop in town. Busted Gulch was growing.
Lou was still MIA and having her problems with the Judge. He was determined to keep her captive for himself and she was just as determined to foil his plans. She saw a possibility in one of the Judge's henchmen, Pearce Wade.
Seemed Frank underwent some emotional turmoil when a bad storm threatened the area and he found himself in Sue's room and flipped a coin to make some private decision.
In the county, Write was worried about how things were left with Lou and the Judge and the fact that he might be a loose end the Judge wanted trimmed. He tried covering his tracks by sending CG the material Lou was going to get, telling her that Lou never came and so their business was finished. He and his girl Patty made plans to get away not knowing they were being watched.
Folks had gathered to admire the new church bells after they were installed and it was almost like a street party with auctioneers and shoppers and food available for tasting at the new market.
Things came to a halt when the bells started playing and Nod was seen waving wildly from the steeple, leaning out with a huge grin on her face. The grin disappeared when she leaned too far and fell out, clinging to the tower's edge.
The church was locked and Pastor Stein was away so fast action by the men in town got ropes and hooks in place to climb to the steeple.
Hugh was ready with another line and Frank had to climb dangerously up the rope to reach Nod. Rescued at last and back safely with her aunt, the day continued on a happy note.
