A Thousand Steps

Okay, so, hear me out, will ya guys and gals? XD. I am very well aware that art is not to be rushed, and still, I did. (Yes, my ego ass considers my writings art, lol) Anyway, I deliberately chose for a very low time span to work with to evaluate my imagination without whole days to think up a plot and such. So... I picked thirty minutes of freewriting and here is the result ;D. Hope y'all love it X3.

Challenge: writing with 30 min max.

A plastic bottle crunched beneath the wheels. A chair rolled down the pristine hallways like the day afore, and most likely, many following days. Laughter, smiles and happiness adorned the lingering atmosphere all throughout the building, strangely. Within these four walls, it was so bright, whereas outside, it was nothing but a murky hodgepodge of accidents, chaos and seemingly everlasting, pouring downfall. Yet all that didn't seem to bother most of those inside. They smiled without a single care in the world. Then again, that wasn't their world. These whitewashed walls, colourless blankets and spotless floors were.

A bluehead, sitting in a mobile chair, took a left around the corner; all the way down the right wing of the hospital. He closed his amber eyes, knowing the path that lied ahead. Not any bit desperate though. He knew, one day it would all work out somehow. He had put his faith into those words. At first, it felt odd to him how a total stranger's words were as inspiring as his kid brother's. Nevertheless, they were.

The chair came to a halt, the nurse behind closed in on the patient. A tall figure in white looked down to the patient in light blueish green, then broke a chuckle. "We've arrived, Yuuichi-kun." The nurse spoke, opening a sliding door, followed by the last snippet of their shared journey.  "I'll be back after rehab."

The bluehead nodded, ducking his head as to mimic bowing gratefully, thanking his personal nurse. His eyes trailed off towards the rehab coach. The young adult raised his hand, waved once to greet, "Good morning."

"Good morning to you too." The coach tilted his head, confounded. "You look more energised than the other day."

Yuuichi smiled. "Yeah... Had a proper night of rest again." So he claimed. A memory of the day before came to mind.

Locks of brown and blue wavered in wind. Black and white danced in a predetermined pattern. Amber and sapphire both locked on one thing along; the graceful partnering dancers. Holy knights and horses of legends engaged open combat that day. To one unknown to the wonders of sports, the event would make for one hell of a fairytale. Albeit no less than truth. He had seen it with his own eyes, took it all in, never to forget.

"Very well then, let us begin, shall we?" Said the trainer, helping the patient out of his wheelchair and supporting him to the adjustable parallel walking bars.

Yuuichi, however, was still mind-occupied. The memory was still so vivid, unforgettable, definitively.

Seeing those two face off had given him hope. Those two, one a stranger at one point, the other known by blood, they somehow managed. Truth be told, he had never actually given up, although such thoughts came drifting in once every while. Those two boys' mutual joy sparked something hiding deep within the crippled one, it turned a switch.

It was the first step to a new reality.

That'll be it. Thank you for sticking till the end :D. Please do consider dropping a comment, I'd love to know your thoughts on both the chapter as to how you guys experienced Yuuichi's character during your watch of IEGO :D. Without further ado, I shall now be taking my leave.

Of course, I hope to see you next time!
