ChapterNine: New York City

September 2155

Back in New York City, it was evening, and Cassie was busy doing her homework on her tablet. She suddenly gets a call on her phone. She sees that it's from Breyden. She answered happily, "Hey Breyden!"

Breyden smiled, "Hey, Cass! I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"

"No, you're good."

"Great!" Suddenly, Breyden's mouth went from a smile to serious straight line. He added, "Listen, the registration is opening up for some Gen-Mods and their families to move to GH569. Now, I'll still have to talk to mom and dad about this, but are you sure you still want to go?"

Cassie frowned, "Let me deduce: You saw a Native, and now you don't want me to go."

Breyden's eyes widen when he heard that. He asked, "You know what a Native is?"

She replied a bit more sternly, "Yes, I know what a Native is. I even saw sketches of what they look like. They look like Gen-Mod vampires."

Breyden sighed, "So you know about them..."

"Yes, I know about them. I also know they're just as vulnerable as the Normals. They have their own cities, and some of their own live in the forests as tribes."

"Just...how do you about these...things?"

Cassie said with irritation in her voice, "Look, it doesn't matter how I found out, I'm not changing my mind. Those GH569 cities are fenced in. Those Natives got their own cities and forests. I'll be fine. Besides, I'm a Gen-Mod. Those Natives got nothing on me."

Breyden sighed heavily, "Fine. If you want to go so bad, I'll talk to mom and dad. Might be safer if you live with me and my family on the military base."

"That's fine. As long as I get to move to GH569, I'll be fine."

"Fine. I'll sign you up as soon as mom and dad are okay with this. If you do get accepted, you will have to be sent into one of the underground cities in order to get on one of the shuttles."

Cassie said with a smile that was both satisfied and happy, "Thank you so much, Breyden. I'll leave you to get to work."

Breyden rolled his eyes, "Yeah, sure. Bye."

With that, the two hung up. Cassie was grinning ear to ear. She had to call Lilly, which she did. Lilly picked up, "Hey Cass!"

"Guess what, bestie?"

"What?"

"I'm going to GH569!"

Lilly smiled sadly at this news. Cassie could hear the silence on the other end, so she asked, "Would you like to come to GH569?"

Lilly sighed, "I would like that, but I don't know if my parents will let me go or not. I want to. I want to be with my bestie."

Cassie also sighed, "I hope you'll come with me. We'll just have to wait and see."

"Well...can you come with me to the mate party tomorrow night? Please?"

Cassie sighed. She still wanted a Normal as her mate. Still, she replied with a smile, "Of course I'll go with you. You're my bestie. I want you to get a handsome mate."

Lilly squealed excitedly, "Oh! If I could hug you right now!"

"You can tomorrow," she chuckled."

Soon, the two hung up. Maybe things are going to go well. Maybe...
