ChapterTwentyEight: Have a Terrifying New Year's
December 2155/January 2156
It was a cold, dark yet starry night New Yorkshire. The two moons were shining bright in the sky, though no one was really looking at the moons. The large, though overcrowding at the seams, city was modeled after New York City from Earth. Everything from Wall Street to Broadway to Fifth Avenue. Everything was almost an exact clone of the original city, but of course it held many variations. For one, this city was literally on the continent of Euramerica, and not on an island that was slowly drifting away from the mainland.
In the city's version of Times Square, everyone, and possibly from the other Six-City-States, were there. They were all squished together in their winter attire as they were about to watch the New Year's Eve ball drop! It was an event that was being copied in New Yorkshire. It was something the Gen-Mods that were born and raised on the planet were accustomed to. Yet for everyone that just came from Earth, both the zombified-skinned Normals and the somewhat winter pale Gen-Mods, it was something that they were familiar.
Everyone watched in sheer excitement as they counted down the seconds towards the shiny new year. As soon as the seconds struck twelve on the New Times Square building, everyone cheered, and most of them kissed each other, regardless if they knew the strangers or not. As the large mass of people were celebrating, there were growls being emitted among them. Only a few people heard the ominous growls, but the growls were drowned out by the dub-EDM pop blaring across the area. Even pop acts from Earth were performing on a stage high above the ground.
Suddenly, the growls grew louder, slowly overpowering the music playing. More people started to take notice, but not enough to scare them away. Soon, the clock struck at midnight, and just as everyone began cheering, different people jumped high from the crowd. Everyone still standing were watching with their jaws opened. These jumping people were the GH569 Hunters, and their mouth were wide open, ready to bite their victims.
The Hunters grabbed their mouth-gapped victims, and some of them bit them hard on their shoulders. Other Hunters claimed them as their own mates. The Part-goers began screaming in sheer horror and pain. Those that were bitten had the Hunter venom oozing out of their wounds, while those marked just had a tattoo of the Hunters' names. All of this was shown on live-feed on both GH569 and Earth.
In Landon, there were many celebrations happening. In one of the more elite hotels, there was a New Year's Eve ball going on. Everyone was in their best clothes that could be described as something one would see on the Red Carpet of an awards show. Everything from revealing, sparkly dresses to crisp, black tuxedos.
Most people were dancing to the classical music being played by the orchestra. Some were just sitting at their tables, watching the dancing in front of them.
Soon, the clock struck midnight. It was now a brand new year. Just as everyone were clapping politely, they all suddenly heard growls all around them. They all looked around, wondering where the inhuman sounds came from. Then they saw some of their own, dressed in expensive dresses and suits, glaring down at everyone with their demonic eyes and their fangs bared.
Everyone else recognized them as the Natives. They all screamed, and tried to run out of building, but they were either bitten by the Natives, or claimed by them. The orchestra kept playing as if they were living in their own world.
In the city-state of Los Antonios, there were many celebrations. This city was on the coast of the New Terra Sea. This sea separated Eurmerica, the continent that had the Six-City States and the Native nation of Rossa from another continent south of it. That continent was rumored to have some Natives living there, but nothing, so far, has been confirmed. The only sure thing was that Los Antonios was a city with only half a fence surrounding the city. It would be considered a port city, but there have been no reports of any another port cities.
There was a party in a college hostel nearby a university. There were many students, from both GH569 and Earth, party with their booze and their red cups. As soon as their phones notified them it was midnight, they all cheered and dance to blaring music like it was a rave.
They couldn't hear it, but there were growls being emitted. No one paid attention until the Natives pounced onto the college students. The rooms were dark with only disco balls lighting the room. Everyone screamed, but the music was only drowning them out.
The city of Berlina. A city modeled after Berlin back on Earth. It had buildings and landmarks modeled after the places in the original city. In a nightclub, everyone was dancing to the dub-EDM playing throughout the club. Most of the songs were sung in English, but a lot of other tracks were sung in German.
As soon as the DJ announced it was the new year, everyone kissed everyone, and went back to dancing. As with the other cities, the Natives attacked and claimed many club-goers. The DJ was clueless to the chaos in front of him.
Back in Parisian, Mason and Kylie were entering an underground tunnel. They were leading a large group of Natives inside. They already got news that a Danken city, modeled after German and Danish cultures, was being attacked by the Natives there, including at a well-known debutante ball.
Kylie breathed with shakiness as she was nervous. This would be the second time she orchestrated a Native attack. She was still feeling heartbroken over Liam rejecting her at the same time. She almost didn't want to go through with this. Yet, she, and Mason, were under orders to make this next attack happen.
Mason said to her, "I can smell your nerves and guilt."
Kylie sighed as she said, "I don't want to do this."
"Is this about Liam? Look, forget about that fucker. You'll get another Mutant-Alien to breed with."
Kylie rolled her eyes as she said, "They're Gen-Mods, and they're not aliens."
Mason looked at her, and asked, "Oh, you think you're a human?"
She glared at him, and said, "Maybe we are humans. We look exactly like everyone. Every anatomy they have, we have. Their cultures and lifestyles are no different than ours. Being around the Gen-mods made me feel emotions for the first time. I know what they feel like. I feel like a human. I don't feel like their temporary androids they would have for a week or two to clean their homes."
Mason scoffed, "Only the rich Mutant-Aliens have those robots. Everyone else don't have them. And you're doing this attack, whether you like it or not. We're not humans, we're Rossians."
Kylie looked away, as she felt even more conflicted. Mason opened the door to the underground concert. Everyone entered from the back as they didn't get the tickets. They knew it was already the new year, but they had to go through with the attack.
The reason for this? The commuter trains were now connected to the Native cities, and the cities were connected to each within the nation of Rossa. The cities were quickly being modernized with many homes and apartments being built. There were major businesses moving in to provide jobs. The cities were also given brand new fences to keep the Forest Natives out. The Earth Underground Refugees were being moved to these cities.
The next morning in Parisian. Cassie just woke up around noon. She heard some sounds coming from Breyden's TV. She walked into the kitchen where a TV was in. She walked closer, and saw what her brother and his wife were watching. The Native New Year's Eve invasion was on the breaking news for everyone, and those back on Earth, to see.
Breyden saw her standing there, so he walked up to her. He told her, "I got a call earlier from Commander Eckhart. He told me recruitment for that historian troop will begin immediately due to these attacks. The situation is too dire to ignore. We must know everything about the Natives as soon as possible."
Cassie nodded her head, even though her emotions were swirling inside her. She knew something bad was going to happen, but she couldn't deduce what it was. Now that the Native Attacks have happened, it was a catalyst begin recruiting Earth Hunters to join the Time-Traveling Historian Troop. Then she narrowed down who would most likely join: Damon.
