Much needed talks

Cal crossed his arms as the door closed behind them,

"Nikki, what are we doing here?"

Nikki glanced at him and frowned,

"What do you mean?"

Cal sighed and looked at her,

"We are still here. I get it, you got stabbed. But, you never liked staying near other people for a long time. If you wanted out, we would have been out of here on the Mantis already,"

Nikki sighed and sat down on the floor,

"Cal...Ever since the purge, I have done nothing other than run. Yes, I did train with Master Kenobi and Master Yoda, but that was all. When things get weird or comfortable, I run. Hell, I hunted down Boba Fett just to give him Astor for a bit so I could try finding other survivors."

Cal sat down in front of her and put his hand on her leg,

"Nikki, why stop now? You helped me on Bracca, you saved my skin and we both found the Mantis Crew, we found another family."

"Because...you may be my force twin or whatever the fuck our bond is, but those guys out there? I told you, they were my brothers. I was their little sister...then...well...you know,"

"You never forgave yourself."

Nikki nodded,

"I should have tried harder. Fives knew about the chip, hell he almost died because of it...yet, I did n-"

Cal shook his head and stood up,

"Nikki. You could not have possibly known any of this was going to happen!"

Nikki stood up and shook her head,

"I could have stopped it!"

"No, you could not have!"

Nikki sighed and looked down,

"I failed my family. I should have known better, Cal."

"Well, then I should have too!"

Nikki frowned,

"Why?"

Cal rolled his eyes,

"I heard Master Windu and Master Yoda talking one time. They were talking about how strange our bond was. Said that it was possible that we would be able to sense what the other was if it got strong enough. So, if you were to sense this plot, I should have been able to as well,"

Nikki sighed,

"Don't carry that burden,"

Cal smirked and put a hand on her shoulder,

"Nikki, your burden is mine to share. Hell, we have raised that kid out there for many years together. I don't think we failed Astor, and if Order 66 never happened, maybe we would have never met Astor...kriff, maybe I would have never met Merrin, and that thought scares me,"

"Are you saying that Order 66 was a good thing?"

Cal rolled his eyes,

"Come on, Nikki, it was the worst thing to happen to anyone. What I am saying is that everything happens for a reason that is unknown to everyone,"

Nikki sighed and nodded,

"Fine,"

Cal sighed and pulled her into a hug,

"We will win. There will always be hope,"

Nikki smirked,

"If I recall, I was the one to tell you that all those years ago on Bracca,"

Cal rolled his eyes,

"Just wait in here-"

"Why?"

Cal sighed,

"Amends are to be made,"

Nikki tilted her head, but Cal left the room. She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms as she leaned against the wall. Her eyes snapped to the door as it opened, revealing Cody with a guilt-ridden expression,

"Hi,"

Cody stood next to her against the wall,

"Nikki...I...I know you said it wasn't my fault. But why did you? You were pissed at us earlier...you tried taking off Wolffe's head,"

Nikki sighed,

"I let my emotions take over in that moment...I haven't seen a clone I knew since I had a run-in with the Hunter and his crew,"

Cody immediately looked at her,

"You ran into Hunter?"

Nikki nodded,

"Yeah...I wanted to find Fives...see if he was okay. I got wind that a group of clones defected from the Empire and thought it was him. But, I ended up helping Hunter, Cross, Tech, and Wrecker find this girl they were trying to save...your little sister, Omega. When I was helping them, I told them to never mention me to anyone, I did not ask any questions either...I was just surprised they recognized me because I changed my hair,"

Cody smirked softly at her and nudged her,

"Nikki, you may have changed your hair, but you still have some of the same moves that you did when you were training with Rex and me. Any clone would be able to tell who you were based on how good of a shot you are,"

Nikki smiled at him,

"Which is why you should not feel guilt,"

Cody looked down,

"Why is that?"

Nikki put a hand on his shoulder,

"Cody. You had a perfect shot of Obi-Wan and I. You could have killed both of us if you truly wanted to. But you fought and only caused us to fall off the cliff. You know damn well I've survived worse than falling off a cliff into water."

Cody's eyes softened as he considered Nikki's words. He shifted his weight and leaned against the wall, feeling the burden of guilt slightly lift from his shoulders. The memory of that day was vivid, but hearing Nikki's perspective provided a sliver of solace. He sighed and ran his hand through his gray hair,

"You're right. A part of me knew you both could survive. But it doesn't change the fact that I...that I turned my weapon on you."

Nikki shook her head,

"Cody, Order 66 wasn't your choice. It was an order embedded in your very being, a command you couldn't resist. You and the others were victims just as much as the Jedi."

Cody frowned and glanced down,

"Still, the things we did, the lives we took...it's hard to just let that go."

Nikki rested her hand on his shoulder,

"Healing takes time, Cody. I'm not asking you to forget. Listen, it took Cal and I a long time to come to terms with everything. Not a day goes by that I wish that everything played out differently. I miss all of our brothers, and I will continue to do so,"

Cody nodded slowly and sighed,

"When did you get so wise?"

Nikki chuckled and punched his arm softly,

"I am a Jedi Master now, Vod, I am no longer that Padawan that you met all those years ago,"

Cody smiled at her and ruffled her hair softly,

"You will always be my Vod'ika, Victory, never forget that,"

Nikki smiled and hugged him,

"I know, old man,"

Cody sighed,

"I thought you weren't going to call me that,"

Nikki smirked,

"I simply had to,"

"No, no, you did not,"

"Sure,"

Cody sighed,

"There is someone that needs to talk to you as much as you need to talk to him,"

"Who?"

Cody patted her shoulder,

"I think we both know,"

Nikki looked down, and Cody left the room. Fives slowly walked in with his head down. His eyes flashed over to hers,

"Nikki,"

Nikki glanced up at him sadly,

"Fives,"

Fives immediately sat down against the wall and started tearing up,

"I-I'm sorry that I failed...I sh-should have f-found out what those stupid chips did! I was so close! I swear I was!"

Nikki shook her head, sat down in front of him, and put her hand on his leg,

"Fives, we both never knew how bad it could have been...If either of us knew...we would have stopped it."

Fives shook his head,

"We did know! At least a little bit...Tup died! I failed to save him! Everything I have ever done was for my brothers...If I tried harder, maybe I could have gotten more information to Anakin and Rex-"

Nikki slapped his leg,

"You would have been killed! I saw Fox waiting for you! Everyone had that building surrounded! You would have been shot dead by our brothers. Then we would have never gotten close! Fives, we can not regret what we tried to do because of all that we did. That would have been for nothing! I failed too! I have carried that guilt ever since I survived the Purge."

Fives shook his head,

"Hermana, you saved so many of us, you should not feel guilty,"

Nikki shook her head and looked down,

"Hardcase. Jesse. Waxer. Boil. Appo...they all died. You six are the last of them....the last of the 501st, 104th, and 212th-"

"Nikki you are forgetting one person,"

Nikki glanced up at him,

"Who?"

Fives chuckled softly,

"Nikki Mils. You were trained by Rex and Cody, you fought alongside Wolffe as a part of his batallion too. Nikki, you are a part of our aliit, you are a part of our family. You have been our sister since you came here all those years ago. When I heard chatter that you were killed...I...I didn't know what to do...I was lost...then Echo found me and dragged me to join the others,"

Nikki felt tears slide down her face,

"Fives...If I knew where you were...I would have tried finding you again...I'm sorry I didn't tell you-"

Fives shook his head,

"Stop it. Nikki, you were on the run. You were all being hunted down...I heard a rumor that you were sent back to Earth...and I have prayed for years that it was true...Then I saw the way you dodged the blasts while fighting Ashoka, and I knew it might be you, but it hurt. It hurt that I didn't try harder to help you. It hurt knowing that you were separated from your siblings and Luiz...Nikki, I am so sorry,"

Nikki looked down and hugged him,

"We owe it to them all to keep fighting...to have a better future and honor the ones we lost,"

Fives nodded and held out his fist,

"Together, Victory, forever and always,"

Nikki nodded and held her fist to his,

"Forever and always,"
