Chapter 10: Wedding and a newborn princess

I woke up early today so I had enough time to edit and upload this new chapter.

Hope you enjoy it :)

Wei Ying's POV

When we arrived back at the royal palace I turned to Lan Huan and pulled him closer.

"Lan Huan, I don't need two servants, and especially do I not want a woman to ... serve me."

"She is a servant, Wei Ying. I am sure she is used to such work. It's nothing bad to be served by a female servant."

"You may be used to it because you grew up like that and probably was served by females your whole life but I don't want a woman to see me without clothes. That is just... it's more than just embarrassing."

"And with a male servant, it isn't?" Lan Huan asked amused and I frowned.

"It is... but he is a man too. He has what I have. Anyway! I bought Wen Ning's sister because they were mistreating her and Wen Ning wanted to save her as well. I didn't buy her because I wanted her to serve me. Can't you find her someone else to serve?"

Lan Huan chuckled. "Well, I am sure the other servants at the court can use every help to arrange the wedding."

"She is a woman. You want her to do hard labor?"

"Look at her. She seemed to be strong, at least stronger than her brother. I don't think she will consider it hard work." He answered and turned to the Wen siblings.

"Wen Ning, as of today you will be in charge of my consort. Serve him well." He announced and Wen Ning looked at me.

"I will ... I will do my best." He answered. His sister whispered something and Wen Ning suddenly bowed. "I am sorry, your highness. Forgive my rudeness. Of course, I will serve you well."

"Ah, no. You... It's okay." I stuttered. 'It seems I can still guide him so he won't be as politely as he is right now. At least not when we are alone...' I thought while trying not to frown at the words your highness.

"And you, Wen Qing, will help the other servants in arranging the wedding." Lan Huan said and gave one of the servants who escorted a sign. "Bring her to the court and assign her work."

"Yes, your highness." The servant bowed and turned to Wen Qing.

"I won't serve you, your highness?" She asked me and I shook my head.

"I don't need more than one servant. Wen Ning is enough. Of course, you two can meet. I won't forbid that if that is what you are worried about."

"Thank you, your highness. I am very grateful you saved us today. We will work hard to repay your kindness" She bowed and turned to her brother. "Don't worry too much. I will be nearby." Wen Ning nodded and walked up to me. He seemed to be a very shy and young boy....no, I shouldn't get confused by his look. He is immortal and definitely a lot older than me.

"Alright. Take her to the others. Don't make her do too hard work. She is still a woman." Lan Huan told the servant who nodded and lead Wen Qing away.

"Your highness." A servant approached Lan Huan. "Greetings, your highnesses." He bowed to both of us and I was about to get a headache.

"I will go back to our chambers, Lan Huan. I am tired." The moment I finished my sentence Lan Huan took my hands in his.

"Are you feeling unwell? Want me to call the doctor?" He asked me worriedly and I shook my head.

"No, just tired. We walked almost the whole day and I need a break." I answered and he nodded, still looking worried.

"Wen Ning, bring his highness to his chambers to get some rest."

"Y-yes, your highness."

"I will follow the moment I am done here. Get some rest, okay?"

I smiled at him. "I will wait for you."

"Wen Ning, how old are you?" I asked him curiously when we arrived at my bed-chamber.

"3900, your highness."

I flinched and turned to him. "That is quite old..."

Wen Ning frowned. "I am still young...."

I laughed. "I just turned 17." I raised my brows and when Wen Ning looked even more confused I sighed. "You don't know that I am mortal?"

"A... a mortal?" He gaped at me in shock. "I-I thought...."

"You thought I was an immortal like you? No, I am not. But I don't mind. 100 years are a lot for us mortals. Enough to do what we want and to reach our goals." I answered and then laughed. "An immortal will probably not understand this. You guys have so many years ahead...."

"I do not understand..." Wen Ning mumbled before realizing something and immediately bowed at me. "I am sorry, your highness. I was disrespectful again. Please forgive me."

I sighed and approached him. "Wen Ning." I called him and waited for him to stand normally again which happened only after I called him another two times. "I think we need to make some rules."

"R-rules, your h-highness?"

"Yes, and the first one is you are not allowed to call me your highness when we are alone. I am not used to it and I will probably never get used to it. How about you call me Wei Ying?"

Wen Ning threw himself on the ground and bowed. "How can I talk rudely to you, your highness. I won't ever do that."

I blinked a few times in confusion. "At least don't call me your highness in every sentence. Not when we are alone. If you don't want to call me Wei Ying and I don't want you to call me your highness, then... how about you address me as you. A simple you will be enough."

"B-b-but-"

"That is a rule. I mean... an order! When we are alone you are to call me you. Okay?" I tried to sound strict but it didn't work out quite well. Being a royal, a highness, or whatever didn't suit me.

"I will follow your order, your-" He immediately stopped and pressed his lips together.

"Wasn't that hard, was it?" I grinned and then yawned. "I think I will go to sleep."

"Let me help you change your garments." Wen Ning approached and I let him do what a servant was supposed to do. The problem was... Wen Ning couldn't. It seemed he never did the work of a servant at all.

"You are worse than I am, Wen Ning." I laughed and turned to him. "You never changed the garments of your previous... hm... master?" I wanted to know and he shook his head.

"Then what kind of work did you do?"

Wen Ning looked down and didn't dare to look at me.

"Nothing?" I asked and he again shook his head. "Don't be shy. You just have to learn... We can learn it together because I also am not familiar with these kinds of garments. In my world, they are different and easier to wear. Can you do anything else?"

Again he shook his head and I had the feeling he was about to cry. "Don't be upset."

"I am useless.... I can't do anything...." He sobbed silently and I patted his back.

"You are not useless, Wen Ning. Could you speak as an infant? Could you walk? No, you couldn't. You had to learn it like everyone else too. Now it's the same. You just have to learn."

"How?" He sniffed.

"Hmm.... You could sneak around and observe other servants, for example. Or you could ask someone to teach you. I will help, okay?"

"I a-am supposed to help y-you...."

"For you to help me, I will need to help you to learn it. I can't just take everything, I need to give as well. We will make it work, trust me. But for now..." I yawned again and climbed into the bed made in heaven. Literally. "I will take a nap..."

It's been a week now and Wen Ning learned a lot after I asked a few other servants to teach him. Wen Ning might be shy and also quite clumsy but he is good at learning new things. He could help me get dressed, I still didn't figure out how these garments work, make the bed, I told him I could do that but he wouldn't let me, he didn't get lost inside the royal palace anymore and he brought me the food without spilling anything.

Also, he finally stopped calling me your highness when we were alone. Sure, sometimes he forgets what he agreed on but I didn't mind that.

"Your bath is done." Wen Ning approached me and I nodded.

"Thank you." We walked into the bathroom and after he took off my garments I climbed into the bathtub. If I tried to do things on my own, like undressing for a bath, Wen Ning tends to feel guilty, thinking he wasn't good enough or something. So I stopped doing it and seemed to have figured out why the royals liked to have someone serving them. It was quite relaxing if you had others do everything. But I tried not to get too used to it. I had two arms and legs after all.

"I will be leaving and waiting in front of the door. Call me if you need me for anything." Wen Ning bowed and I watched him leave.

While he was with me he smiled a lot and didn't stutter anymore. Only when other people were present did he become shy again and would smile forcefully. When I asked him about it he answered that he was happy being with me. He was thankful that I saved him and his sister and would do anything to repay it.

"You don't have to repay anything. This was something everyone should have done. But I guess in the immortal world everything works differently." I had answered him back then.

"But no one came forward to help me. You did. And you didn't need to help my sister either, yet you did. We could have ended up who knows where and get mistreated or would have died. Not everyone is as merciful as you are, your highness. When I didn't know anything you didn't get mad but helped me to learn it. When a servant makes mistakes they get scolded, even punished for it. You didn't do either. You were kind and forgiving. Never raised your hands or voice. You are not treating me like a servant at all but as a companion, as a ... friend. This kindness... I will never forget it. Nor will my sister. I might not be the best servant but I will try my best to be someone you can rely on, your highness!"

"You did it again. Twice even." I had laughed at him. "I trust you, Wen Ning. I am treating you as a friend because I see you as one."

Thinking back to what he said I had to smile again. Yes, I did treat him as a friend. Because what I needed more than a servant was a friend. Except for Lan Huan, I had no one here, knew no one. Everything was unknown. Wen Ning was like a little brother to me even though I knew he was much older.

I sighed and leaned back.

I missed my house in my world and I missed my grandma a lot but I was slowly getting used to my life here. Lan Huan did everything to make me feel at home. I loved him for that. I couldn't believe how lucky I was to have met him.

Thinking about Lan Huan made me realize that the wedding was just one week away. I got nervous just thinking about it. I heard the first guests already arrived and were settled down in one of the guestrooms. Or rather guest palaces. As I stayed here most of the time, I didn't get to meet anyone. It was not as if I was locked up or anything but I felt more comfortable here.

As for the pregnancy, I didn't throw up every morning anymore. The doctor called it Morning sickness. He told me that everyone had this in the early stage of pregnancy. And with everyone, he probably meant women and not men.

As for my body... either I was super paranoid or my belly did grow a little. I was hoping for the first option but Lan Huan and Wen Ning assured me, I wasn't getting paranoid.

I sighed again and then I heard a weird noise coming from the bathroom door.

"Wen Ning? Is everything alright?" I shouted and after a few seconds, I heard his answer.

"No, I mean yes. Everything is fine. I just ... hey, you, stop chewing that!...."

"Wen Ning?" I called him when I didn't hear anything anymore I was about to leave the bathtub but Wen Ning opened the door. "What is going on, Wen Ning?" I wanted to know.

"Nothing. We just have ... a .... visitor..."

"A visitor?" I asked confused while trying to somehow cover myself with my arms. "Who?"

"I don't know. It's- hey, where are you going! Stop right there!" He ordered and looked at the ground. "Will you come back here!? Hey!"

Before I could take a look at the ground something jumped from the ground at the edge of the bathtub. Something tiny and black.

"A... bunny...?" It stared at me without even blinking and I couldn't help but meet his gaze.

"This little thing is so fast, I wasn't able to catch it." Wen Ning complained before slowly approaching us. He raised his hands, ready to catch the bunny when its head turned around and it caught Wen Ning in the act, he tried to escape by jumping away. But as there was nothing more than water it couldn't land anywhere and fell into the bathtub.

I widened my eyes in shock and immediately picked it up before it could drown. I put it back on the edge of the bathtub and watched how it lay down to catch its breath.

"Poor little thing. Where did it come from?" I asked Wen Ning who shook his head.

"I don't know. It must have been lost and couldn't find its home. It was suddenly in your chambers. Maybe it belongs to the second prince."

"The second prince? You mean, Lan Huan's brother?" Wen Ning nodded. "Sometimes I see white bunnies hopping around... do they belong to him as well?"

"Yes. It's said he has a lot of bunnies because he likes them so much. But from what I have heard he only has white bunnies. I am not sure about this one."

"I see... It doesn't really matter if it belongs to him or not but he probably knows a lot about bunnies so handing it over to him would be the best choice." I said and patted the small and now wet animal. He was a little out of breath which was understandable as he had almost drowned. He was cute but also stupid. I chuckled as I gently scratched its neck.

"When I am done with my bath I will hand it over to the second prince."

As I was in my palace most of the time I wasn't very familiar with my surroundings. It has been a week since Lan Huan showed me around after all. So I let Wen Ning, who seemed to know the whole royal palace like the back of his hand by now, show me the way to the second prince's palace.

"And now? We can't just enter, can we?" I asked and Wen Ning shook his head before approaching the door to knock on it. The bunny in my arms was quiet and seemed to feel quite comfortable. It was very cute.

When no one came to open the door I felt a little helpless. The sun shone on us and it was quite hot. I looked around and when my eyes fell on another door a few meters away, I walked up to it.

"Your highness? Where are you going?" Wen Ning asked me and I shrugged my shoulder.

"There is a door which probably leads inside."

"B-but... I heard the second prince doesn't like a stranger to enter his quarters.... Are you sure you want to enter just like that?" Wen Ning asked insecurely. I knew that, of course, but something told me it was okay to enter.

"I know it's impolite to just enter without an invitation but it's not like we came here to make trouble. We are just trying to help this little thing. And the second prince likes bunnies, right? I doubt he would get angry at us once he found out that we are just here to hand over a bunny. Let's go."

Wen Ning was a scaredy-cat and wouldn't have ever dared to enter another prince's palace without invitation but as he was my servant he followed me without another word. Honestly, usually, I was the same. I didn't know where my sudden courage was coming from.

We entered and found ourselves on a long path surrounded by hedges. Almost looks like the beginning of a huge labyrinth. We followed the path and only stopped when we met six different entrances.

"This is a labyrinth...." I mumbled and decided to take the third path from my left.

"Your highness... is this the right one? What about the other paths?" Wen Ning asked and for the first time in a week did he look like as if he was about to cry. I chuckled.

"Yes," I answered confidently without knowing why. "I am sure this is the right one. Come on, Wen Ning. Follow me." Wen Ning looked still unsure but nodded slowly before walking after me.

It took us about 20 minutes before we left the labyrinth and found ourselves in a beautiful garden. There was a small lake and many trees, flowers and animals. Not just any animals. In front of us were white bunnies. There were so many of them, and they were hopping wildly around, that there was no way to count them.

"Whoa..." I gaped at the sight.

"Look, your highness." Wen Ning pointed towards a few servants who ran around panicky. "What do you think they doing?"

I didn't know for sure but I had a hunch it might have something do to with the bunny in my arm.

"Are they maybe... looking for you?" I asked it amused and as if the bunny had understood me, it cuddled itself deeper into my arm. "Wen Ning, go and ask them what is going on. Oh, and find out where the second prince is."

"Yes, your highness." He answered and walked away. As we weren't in our quarters he called me your highness again. I guessed that was one of the reasons I seldom left my quarters.

Soon Wen Ning came back. "They are looking for the second prince's favorite bunny who is missing since early this morning." He looked at the one in my arms. "They said it's a small black bunny."

'I knew it.' I thought and looked down at the tiny thing.

"His highness, the second prince ordered everyone to look for it and seemed to be very angry. They told me, that the second prince would punish every servant working in this palace if the bunny is not found. Only about 5 servants are working here and all of them are panicking, scared to get punished. They have been looking for it for about 4 hours and the more time passes, the more panicked they become."

"You..." I looked at the bunny strictly. "You sure are a trouble maker, are you?"

"They said that sometimes it happens that a few bunnies accidentally leave this place and get lost. Everyone knows that only the second prince owns bunnies and every bunny outside of this place belongs to the second prince. The servants are to bring them back once they spot one of them. This one right here..." He pointed at my arm. "... is the only black bunny and because of being bullied by other bunnies it is favored by his highness and lives inside his quarters."

"Let's find the second prince and ease his worries. Did you find out where he is?"

"Yes, he is also looking for it. The servants said the last time they saw him he was on the other side of the garden."

"Then let's go." Wen Ning nodded and walked ahead. We passed the few servants and once they saw what was sitting in my arms they looked like they have won the lottery. They immediately greeted me with a bow and I nodded at them.

The second prince was indeed searching for this little troublemaker and he looked everything but calm.

"Your highness," I called him and when he turned to me I bowed slightly. He widened his eyes in surprise seeing me standing in front of him. Next to me was Wen Ning greeting the second prince with a bow as well.

"I am sorry to disturb you, your highness, but I came to give back this visitor of mine." I looked down at my arm. "He came into my quarters and kept Wen Ning busy. He fell into the bathtub but I saved it right away. Except for a little shock, nothing should have happened to him."

I waited for him to take back his favorite bunny but instead of that, he kept staring at me. The more he stared at me, the more nervous I became. 'Did I do something wrong? Is it because I entered his space without an invitation? Or.... does he think-?'

"I didn't steal him," I said, thinking that maybe he believed that.

"Didn't say that."

"I did not break in here either. The door leading to the labyrinth was open. But, indeed, I shouldn't have just entered like that. I am sorry if I angered you, your highness."

"You didn't....-" He stopped and tilted his head a little while still looking at me. "You came from the labyrinth?"

"I ... did...."

"You ... found the exit?"

"Yes." I answered and suddenly he smiled. I was surprised. According to Lan Huan, he seldom showed his emotions this openly.

"No one ever managed to go through that. Not even my brother." The second prince said with a soft smile and walked up to me. "Thank you for finding this little one."

"I didn't." I chuckled seeing the bunny jump straight into the second prince's arms. "Rather it found me. Does it have a name?"

He shook his head.

"Well..." As I didn't have to say anything and the second prince also didn't seem to be much of a talker the situation became a little awkward. Suddenly I felt something on my legs and almost screamed in shock. In front of me were several bunnies jumping around, surrounding me.

"How many bunnies are there?" I asked as I knelt and started to pat the beautiful white fur of these animals.

"132.012" Was the second prince's answer. "With this little one, it's 132.013"

I gaped at him. "How can you be so sure? There are so many... no way can someone know the exact number?"

"I raised them so I know."

"Does that mean... except for those around here, there are more?" I looked around, pretty sure that the number of bunnies hopping around didn't reach 5.000.

"Mhn."

I smiled when more bunnies made their way toward me. "They are cute. I like them. Who cares for them?"

"I."

"You!?" I asked in shock. "Alone!?

"Mhn."

"Don't you have servants who help you? 132.000 bunnies... Don't you need help in caring for them?"

"I don't trust others."

"Oh...." I nodded slowly. "Is that the reason you seldom leave your palace? To care for them? Don't you want to take a break and leave this place at least a little each day?"

"You aren't either."

"Huh?" I asked confused.

"You aren't leaving your place either."

"H-how do you know!?"

He didn't answer directly. He waited for a moment as if to figure out what to say. "Just a hunch..."

'A hunch?' I thought and chuckled seeing the color of his aura changing. He was lying. I didn't know why, though.

"I see." I nodded slowly and got up. "Well then, I don't want to disturb you any longer. I only came here to bring back what belongs to you. Come, Wen Ning. Let's go back."

"Yes, your highness."

I didn't come far when I heard the second prince's voice. "Do you want to see the bunnies?"

I turned around and looked at him in surprise.

"You like them. Do you ... want to see the others?"

I blinked a few times and then started to grin. "I don't have anything to do so why not? Come, Wen Ning!"

"Yes, your highness."

"WOAH!" I exclaimed seeing the scene in front of me. "Did it snow!?" I asked in amazement. In front of me, wherever you looked, were bunnies. It really almost looked like it snowed. My shout might have been a little too loud as suddenly thousands of heads turned to me.

"Sorry..." I mumbled and heard the second prince chuckle. I looked at him questioningly but he just looked down at the black bunny in his arms, playing with it. "Do you only have one black bunny? Where is its family?"

He looked around, his gaze roamed over the white bunnies before he pointed at a couple of bunnies a few meters away from us.

"But... they are white," I stated.

"Mhn..."

"Is it even possible that two white ones give birth to a black one?"

"Mhn."

"Are you sure it's their child?"

"Mhn. I was present."

Now I laughed. "Can you say something else than Mhn?"

"Can."

"I sensed it earlier already. You are not much of a talker, are you?"

"Mhn."

"You are strange," I said and then laughed. "But I like it. It's different from the others."

"Mhn." The second prince smiled slightly. 'What an interesting.... character....' I thought.

"Another question, why is the black bunny not with its family?"

"Outcast." He frowned and stroked the furry animal in his hands. "I took him in."

"I already know it's pleased with its life despite being outcasted by its family. And to see you didn't abandon its family despite them abandoning the black bunny... You have a warm heart, your highness."

He looked at me. "Would you?"

"What? Abandon its family? No." I shook my head and looked at all the bunnies in front of me. "I bet they don't even know they did something wrong. I guess it's in their nature. Sometimes Humans see things differently than animals. It doesn't mean that humans are always right, though..." I answered him and looked down at my feet. Three bunnies were checking me out. I crouched down and stroked each of them.

"I share your opinion." I heard the second prince saying. I looked up at him and smiled at him.

"I need to go know before Lan Huan will report me missing," I said and got up. "Thank for you showing me the bunnies. If it's okay.... can I come here more often? I could help you feed and play with them."

The second prince stared at me and I smiled in embarrassment.

"It's quite boring staying only at my bed chambers but running around and getting stared at or treated as a glass doll... I like it here more. It's so calm and peaceful."

When he still didn't give me an answer but kept staring at me, I thought he was against it so I bowed. "It's okay. Maybe I was too intrusive. I will take my leave now, your highness."

Wen Ning stood a few meters away from me and was busy to not fall with all the bunnies jumping around him. I gave him a sign but he was unable to break free from the tiny animals.

"Guys, would you mind giving me back my servant? I need him." I asked amused and surprisingly the bunnies stopped and hopped away. I raised my brows and grinned widely.

I was about to leave when I heard the second prince's voice. "You can."

I turned around. "What?" I asked confused.

"Coming here. Helping me. You can. I would...." He stopped and immediately looked away. "I would appreciate it."

'He blushed, didn't he?' I asked myself in amusement. "Is he embarrassed to ask for help? Isn't he a prince?'

"Thank you, your highness. I will surely come often." I answered him and turned around to leave with Wen Ning.

'I am kind of looking forward to it. He is a very interesting person.'

"Wei Ying, I was worried you got lost." Lan Huan greeted me in relief.

"It wasn't me who got lost. One of the second prince's bunnies showed up during my bath and I brought it back. He showed me his bunnies."

Lan Huan laughed.

"What?" I asked confused.

"I don't know what you did but you gained his approval."

"What do you mean?"

"Wang Ji loves his bunnies dearly. Sometimes I fear he loves them more than his family. When the number of bunnies increased in the past, our father told him to get rid of them because they were too many. Wang Ji refused to do so and went on a hunger strike when our father tried to take them by force. I think Wang Ji was about 700 years old at that time."

"And then?" I asked curiously.

"Father had no choice than giving them back. My brother can be very stubborn. But I could understand my father too. Back then, Wang Ji's palace was too small to hold all of them so I suggested expanding it. With that suggestion everyone was happy. Wang Ji designed a plan for how he wanted his palace to be and several years later, it was done."

"Was the labyrinth also his idea?"

"Yes. You know of it?"

"I saw it earlier."

Lan Huan looked worried. "I hope you didn't try to go through that. That labyrinth is huge and not even the most skilled immortals can find their way out of it. My father and I are also not able to find the exit. I got lost multiple times and Wang Ji had to pick me up. My brother created a true masterpiece." He said and shook his head in amusement.

'It wasn't that difficult....' I thought but didn't say that out loud. I didn't tell anyone about what I could see and feel, didn't want my abilities to be found out. I found my way out of the labyrinth because of them, I was sure of that. I was already getting stared at for being able to get pregnant. I didn't want them to find me even more strange than now.

"I don't know how many bunnies he has by now, only my brother knows, but there are a lot. If he showed them to you means he likes you. He doesn't let just anyone near them, you know?" Lan Huan came closer and hugged me. "I initially thought it was going to be difficult to earn my family's approval but who knew it was this easy. Especially my father gave in pretty quickly. If my mother was still here.... She would have loved you for sure."

"It's a pity I can't meet your mother anymore." I hugged him back and felt his lips on my head.

"You might not be able to meet her in person but after our wedding, I will bring you to the temple to introduce you to her properly."

"I would love that," I answered with a smile. "I hope I will survive the wedding..."

Lan Huan laughed. "I know you are scared but you don't have to be. Everything will turn out well. Trust me on that. But if it's too much, you tell me and we will sneak away."

"Sneak away? Is that what a crown prince should say?" I chuckled.

"Probably not but I don't care. All that matters on our wedding day is that we are happy. It's our day, not theirs. If that means we have to sneak way, so be it."

My heart was beating fast and I hugged him tighter. "I will remind you of that."

Today was the big day and I was a wrack. Many servants run around trying to arrange the last bit of preparations.

"Your highness, you look pale. Are you okay?" Wen Ning asked worried and quickly gave me a cup of water.

"Morning sickness." I lied and drank the water in one go. Wen Ning blinked and looked at me doubtfully. "Can't we just say it's morning sickness?" I begged him and he smiled.

"Are you that nervous?" He wanted to know and I nodded. "If you are already like this then I guess I would be far worse. I don't understand why my parents always talked about marriage as if it was the greatest thing if it leads to getting sick. Why bother marrying?"

For the first time that day, I laughed. I found out real quick that Wen Ning was the most innocent person I ever met. When we visited the second prince's palace two days ago and Wen Ning saw two bunnies doing that kind of thing, he thought the male bunny was attacking the female one and tried to interfere. When I explained to him what was happening he blushed and didn't dare to look at me anymore for the rest of the day.

"Marriage is a good thing, Wen Ning. Getting nervous is normal. Even though I am very nervous right now, I am also excited to be the consort of Lan Huan. Spending the rest of my life with the person I love is the happiest thing that can happen in one's life. I am sure once you get married you will feel the same."

"I don't want to get married." Wen Ning shook his head. "I don't think a marriage is suited for someone like me."

"Someone like you?" I asked and frowned. "You are human, Wen Ning. Be it servant, commoner, prince, king, or emperor. It doesn't matter. Everyone has the right to be happy. You too! So if you ever feel like you found someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, tell me. I will make sure you will have a grand wedding. Of course only, if that other person wants it too. I won't force anyone."

"I already found the one I want to spend the rest of my life with." He said and I stared at him.

"Who!?" I asked excitedly and he pointed at me.

"You, your highness. I want to serve you for the rest of my life."

I laughed. "I didn't mean it like that, Wen Ning. Besides, I am not going to live longer than another 90 years." Wen Ning frowned and I patted his back. "But I am happy to have you."

Suddenly there the sounds of trumpets could be heard and I knew the ceremony was about to begin.

"Your highness." I turned around and saw Wen Qing approaching. "The auspicious time is nearing. Please wear the veil." She bowed and after Wen Ning helped me with the veil I got up.

"Why do I even have to wear that thing? I am a man...." I asked but I already knew that it was a tradition that the consorts had to wear them. It didn't matter if man or woman.

"His highness is leaving!" Wen Qing shouted and we stepped out of my quarters, left the palace and Wen Ning helped me climb into the carriage. Through the veil I saw many servants running back to the palace, carrying many things. I knew that once Lan Huan and I were back, our bed chamber would have been decorated and prepared.

Even though Lan Huan and I were already intimate before and I was pregnant already, I still got nervous thinking about tonight. We spend only one night together after all.

The march toward the court was long and sitting in the carriage the whole time was more than just uncomfortable. If I could choose, I would just climb out and go on foot. But knowing that the immortals cared for their traditions I didn't do anything and just held out. At least I had pillows with me.

Finally after what felt like hours we arrived. It was Lan Huan who helped me out of the carriage. I didn't dare to look anywhere but our feet. In the corner of my eyes, I saw people. Many, many people.

"I know you are nervous. Just look at me, Wei Ying." Lan Huan whispered and I looked up at him. Seeing his eyes and the loving smile on his face through the veil calmed me down. "You don't have to look and take notice of anything but me."

I nodded and grabbed his hands tightly before we marched towards the emperor who sat on his throne before the altar. Even a mere mortal like me could see how powerful he was.

In front of him, we stopped and faced each other. It was a little hot under the veil but I didn't complain. Suddenly a murmur went through the audience. When I looked at Lan Huan I saw him gaping at something and because I was very curious, I turned my head to face the same direction.

A Woman was floating down. Yes, she was floating and landed gracefully not far away from us. Without anyone telling me I knew she was a seer and by the reaction of everyone, especially Lan Huan's, I had the feeling that this seer was not a low-ranked one.

"Your holiness! It is a great honor for us to have you here attending the wedding of my son and his consort!" The emperor raised from his throne and bowed to her.

"Lan Huan, who is she?" I asked him who was still staring at the woman in shock.

"My name is Baoshan Sanren, dear son. I am sure you heard of me." The seer herself answered and I looked at her immediately.

"The leader of the seers? The oldest immortal existing?" I asked in amazement and the seer chuckled.

"Indeed. I am the oldest one. But be honest, son, do I look old?"

"Actually, no. But that doesn't mean anything. Everyone here could be my ancestor." I pointed out and another murmur went through the crowd. Even Lan Huan next to me froze. 'Did I say something wrong?'

The seer laughed out loud and it got quiet around us. "You are an honest child, Wei Ying. Direct, blunt, and honest. I like that." She smiled at me and raised her hands. "Now, now. No need to look so scared. Isn't today a wedding?"

She turned to Lan Huan. "You have a good eye, your highness." She said and looked at him for quite a long time. I somehow had the feeling she didn't mean it positively.

"I know. I only chose the best." Lan Huan smiled at me and took my hand in his.

"Fate is an interesting thing, don't you think? No matter how much you try, you won't be able to change one's fate or destiny. What is supposed to happen will happen. Be it sooner or later." She said, turned away, and walked up to the emperor.

"I am amazed that her holiness, Baoshan Sanren personally attended our wedding." Lan Huan said next to me.

"Is that something good?" I asked curiously.

"She seldom leaves the divine realm. To come down and attend our wedding is going to be written down in history. Our love is blessed by the gods, Wei Ying." I felt my cheeks getting hot so I turned away.

"Even without seeing it, I know you blushed." He teased me.

"Stop it..." I mumbled in embarrassment and looked away. My eyes then fell on the second prince who stood next to his father. I was pretty sure he wasn't there earlier.

I was surprised to see his aura was different than usual. Usually, it was calm and had bright colors. But today he seemed to be in turmoil and the brightness faded, making the aura kind of gloomy. He didn't seem to be happy at all. Did something happen?

'Is the black bunny gone again? That little troublemaker surely knows how to make trouble.' I thought and flinched when the second prince looked straight at me. Even though he couldn't see my face and my sight at him too was covered by the veil, I had the feeling he knew exactly that I was watching him. I almost couldn't tear my gaze from him.

Lan Huan next to me took my hand again and we both walked up to the altar. The ceremony thankfully didn't take too long. Getting stared at by everyone was giving me headaches. The only person who didn't stare was the second prince. He rarely looked in our direction.

"Bow to heaven and earth." Baoshan Sanren said and Lan Huan and I followed her order.

"Bow to the parents."

"Bow to each other." Lan Huan and I faced each other and deeply bowed. His hand was holding mine firmly. As if he was scared I would run away before the ceremony was done. He wasn't necessarily wrong, though. I did think for a moment to do exactly that. Running away. Not because I did not want to marry him but because I was feeling too many things at once.

"We are almost done, Wei Ying." Lan Huan stroked my hands with his thumbs which calmed me down a lot.

"Remember what you promised last time? About sneaking away?" I asked and he chuckled.

"Lan Huan, crown prince of the heavenly realm, and Wei Ying of the mortal realm are now officially married." Baoshan Sanren announced and loud applause sounded from everywhere.

Then, without any warning, Lan Huan picked me up and carried me away in a rather embarrassing way. "Ladies and gentlemen, I will take my consort to our chambers. Please help yourself and celebrate as much as you want. I will soon join you after making sure my beloved consort does not lack anything."

"Lan Huan!" I hid my face in his chest. "How could you...." Lan Huan laughed as he carried me back to our bed chambers which was a very long march. I tried to persuade him to let me down but he refused to do so.

"You are my consort and I will carry you everywhere you want. I will show everyone how devoted I am to you."

"You can show it without torturing yourself." I smiled

"Who said carrying you is torturing me? You as light as two feathers."

As I couldn't persuade him I let him do what he wanted. After a while, I relaxed and started to enjoy getting carried around. Once we arrived at the bed chambers he put me down and was about to lift my veil but I stopped him.

"Aren't you supposed to join the others for the celebration? Why take off the veil? Isn't it too early?"

"I know you feel uncomfortable wearing it." He said and wanted to take it off but I stopped him again.

"I went through with all the tradition. Wearing the veil for a few more hours won't hurt me. Now go and attend our guests."

"Wen Ning!" Lan Huan called for Wen Ning. "Bring Wei Ying something to eat."

Wen Ning bowed and left and Lan Huan turned to me. "It won't take long. I will come back as soon as possible."

"Your guests are important, Lan Huan." I chuckled.

"Not as important as you."

"Off you go!" I pushed him slightly until he finally left. Wen Ning came not long after with a plate of delicious food. Only then did I allow myself to take off the veil. Once I was done eating I put it back on and waited for Lan Huan's return.

Lan Huan indeed came back soon and freed me from the veil.

"I bet you were bored."

"Not at all," I answered. "I had a nice conversation with Wen Ning."

Lan Huan turned to the servant. "Good work, Wen Ning. You can go back and now and take a rest. For the rest of the day.." He looked at me. "I will attend Wei Ying."

Wen Ning was unsure and looked at me questioningly. I nodded at him and he left soon after.

Lan Huan helped me take off the gown and after he took off his own we went to bed. Albeit it was only the second time, I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Not like the first time. Lan Huan did everything to make me feel comfortable, even during the lovemaking. I wanted to attend to him as well but he didn't let me.

"Let me serve you, Wei Ying." He whispered. "This is my duty. I am going to pamper you, love you, and make you happy. You don't have to do anything, my beloved consort. I will take care of all your needs. So just lean back and let me make you happy."

We intertwined hands. I gave in and I let him pamper me.

8 months later

"You have to press more, your highness. I can already see the head." The midwife said and I tried my best to follow her order. It wasn't easy at all. I was tired and felt like my inner organs were about to explode.

I was shocked when I saw the midwife opening a hole out of nowhere. They called it a portal that was used by me to deliver my daughter. I knew that I wouldn't give birth like a woman did but... a portal? Shockingly amazing.

"Press, your highness!"

"I knew.... that giving birth would be.... tiresome but... this is exceeding my expectations... arghh!!!"

I pressed as hard as I could but the midwife kept telling me it was not enough. What else was I supposed to do!?

"Press harder, your highness."

"Arghh!!! Pleaseeeee...."

"She is coming! She is coming. A little more, your highness, a little more!" She shouted in excitement.

"Wei Ying, you can do it. I am right outside!" Lan Huan exclaimed and his voice broke. He was even more excited than the midwife which was understandable.

Just then I felt relief and heard a beautiful loud cry. "Congratulations, your highness. The princess arrived safely."

That was enough for Lan Huan to enter the room. He passed the midwife and run up to me. He dabbed the sweat from my forehead and kissed it afterward.

"You did great, Wei Ying. I am so proud of you." He kissed my eyes, my nose, my cheeks, and my lips.

"The princess, your highness." The midwife handed him our daughter and left the room quietly.

"She looks just like you, Wei Ying." He smiled and put her in my arms.

Seeing her I knew for sure that she would break many men's hearts in the future. She was the most beautiful baby I have ever seen.

"She is so small...." I mumbled and kissed her tiny forehead. Just like me, our daughter was a mortal. As far as I have understood if I would give birth to girls they would be mortal, if it were boys they would be immortal. It has something to do with the genes.

"Yes, she is. I am happy she looks just like you. Our daughter is the most beautiful girl in the immortal realm." Lan Huan said and tried to play with her fingers.

Just then the door opened and the emperor entered together with Baoshan Sanren.

"Congratulation for giving birth to a healthy little girl," The seer said and reached out for our daughter. She touched her forehead and started to pray.

"Congratulations, you two." The emperor said and smiled at Lan Huan and me. "For the first time in many many years we have not only a baby, but a princess within the family. Did you choose a name for her?"

Lan Huan nodded at me and I answered my father-in-law. "Hanna, Lan Hanna"

"Beautiful name." He nodded satisfied and turned around. "Wang Ji, don't be shy and come in. Meet your beautiful little niece!"

I looked behind the emperor and saw Wang Ji entering. He looked at Hanna and nodded proudly which I thought was amusing. One could think he was the father. He then looked at me and smiled as if to say I did a good job.

"Won't you say anything?" I asked him teasingly.

"Mhn. Congratulation." He said as he looked at me and I grinned. His aura was shining brightly telling me he was happy.

"Now, now." Baoshan Sanren was done with her prayers and stepped back. "Wei Ying is tired. We should let him rest."

"Yes, let's give him some rest. He needs it." The emperor agreed and turned to leave. "Your holiness, do you happen to know if the princess will grow up alone or, maybe will have a sibling or two?" He asked the seer as they were leaving.

"Father!" Lan Huan exclaimed

"What? It was just a question." He laughed.

I didn't have anything against another child but I knew for sure that I would wait sometime before giving birth again. I wasn't eager to give birth so soon. It was very tiresome. Moreover, I would like to spend a lot of time pampering my daughter. I wanted to give her all my love before maybe thinking about a little sibling.

"Wei Ying's life is blessed by the god of fertility." Baoshan Sanren answered the emperor before she bowed to him and disappeared into thin air.

"Did you hear that?" The emperor explained and Lan Huan smiled. I

blinked a few times. Hearing the seer answer was shocking and I figured out I probably would have a big family in the future. "Just hearing that I am already tired again...." I mumbled and heard a chuckle. I looked over to the second prince who hid a smile.

"Your highness, how about you will become the godfather of each of my children? Let's see if you can still laugh." I provoked him and was surprised to hear his answer.

"Mhn. I will."

Everyone looked at him in surprise but instead of reacting, the second prince left without another word.

to be continued...

That's it! The wedding is over and even the little princess was born. Wei Ying, you choose a beautiful name for your daughter. May she live a happy life!!

I am pretty sure you guys already know what will happen now. That's right! We will have a time skip of 16 years. And a lot of things can happen in 16 years... I will try my best to write everything down as clearly as possible.

It seems our Wei Ying has changed quite a lot. He grew up from a 16 years old boy into a freaking handsome 32-year-old Daddy.

Aaaand our second prince will appear now more often and both, Wang Ji and Wei Ying will spend a lot of time together. <3 <3

Now I will have to get ready to attend a wedding. I have less than an hour ;)
