The Fantasy Section

We walked in and I looked around the room. It's not the biggest room, but it's somewhere up there. Most of the books took place in made up lands and have mythical creatures in them. For example, you'd find the "Rainbow Fairy" book series in here.

I sighed as I looked around. I'm usually not the one who walks in here. Adam really likes this section for some reason and one time he put his book down, turned to me and said, "Do you believe in Banana Jesus." I have no clue what book he was reading, but I kind of want to know.

"How long is this one going to take?" Scotty asked.

They all shrugged. "Not too sure, but I know one person is in here." Evan said.

"Any other information?" I asked.

They shook their heads and I sighed. I stared walking around the room, occasionally looking back at the others for any luck.

"Oh goddammit." Tyler cursed.

"What?" Delirious asked.

"I've got good news and bad news." He said.

We all walked to him and Evan said, "Well what's the good news?"

"I'm pretty sure I found the book."

Some cheered but I said, "What's the bad news?"

He sighed and pointed. We followed his finger to the window.

The fantasy section is the only section that has designs on the windows, however, the sun never shines through them to show them off.

Anyway, if you stared at the window long enough, you'll notice that the design is a fairy holding a stack of books, but one looked weird. It just didn't look like glass. It was the top book and only a small bit of it was sticking out.

I took a deep breath and looked at the rest of them, "How the hell are we supposed to get that down?"

"Y/N, can you get on one of our shoulders and get it?" Evan said.

"Why me?" I asked.

"Woman," Luke said, "you have no idea how uncomfortable it feels for us men to put our balls on the back of someone's neck."

They laughed and I groaned, "Fine. Who's going to be able to hold me up?" They all rose their hands and I just groaned again. "Tyler, get your tall ass over here."

He laughed and walked to me. He got down on one knee and I threw my leg over him and positioned myself on the back of his shoulders. He grabbed my ankles and stood up.

"Oh shit." I cursed as he rose, myself getting taller and taller.

I tried to keep my balance but it was nearly impossible.

"Stop moving so much!" Tyler complained.

"I can't help it!" I said as I fell further back. I screamed as I couldn't balance myself back out.

I prepared for myself to hit the hard ground, but instead was greeted by something soft, yet hard, hitting the back of my knees and my mid back. I looked around and was met by Ohm, looking a bit worried.

"How about you don't get on Tyler's shoulders." He chuckled.

I shrugged and nodded as he put me back down. I sighed and looked around. I looked at how high the book was and looked at them again.

"Anyone?" I asked.

Evan walked forward first and got down. I did the same to him as I did with Tyler and when he rose, he didn't grab my ankles, but my hands. I actually kept my balance a little better this time as he moved closer to the window. He let go of one of my hands and I grabbed the book. It was a hardback, no doubt, but it was wedged into this damn window.

"What's wrong?" Evan asked, being very patient with me.

"It's stuck." I said as I took away my other hand and continued to try and pry the book out.

My hand slipped and it hit my other hand and because I wasn't holding onto Evan, I fell back. I gasped and another pair of arms grabbed me. I looked up and saw David's bright, hazel eyes.

He smiled and I sighed as he put me back down. I looked at the book and said, "There's no way in hell I'm going to be able to get that."

Everyone groaned and Brian walked forward and pointed at Brock, "Get on my shoulders."

"Why me?" He asked.

"Because I said." He got down and continued, "We don't have all night."

Brock sighed and walked to Brian, swinging his leg over him. They did the same I did with the two men, but they seemed a lot more uneven.

"I can't keep my balance." Brock whined as he nearly fell back.

Brian grabbed his hands and David whispered, "I ship it."

They moved forward and Brock grabbed the book. He pulled and pulled, but couldn't get it out of the window.

"It won't budge." He groaned as he let go, nearly falling back. He caught himself and Brian set him down.

I ran my fingers through my hair and heard laughing. These were laughs that I've never heard before, however.

"Everyone shh..." I shushed them.

They all stood up straight and looked at me. The laughter rang once again and their eyes widened and they started looking around.

"Wait," Scotty said, "that sounds familiar."

Scotty tip-toed to the door because it sounded like it was echoing from it. He poked his head out and sighed with relief.

"Who is it?" Tyler asked.

"I few of my friends, follow me." Scotty said, motioning for us to move after him.

We glance at each other before following the male. We came to two people.

One was about 6 foot and had short, brown hair and quite the forehead. His thin glasses covered his eyebrows and rested right on the bridge of his nose. I observed his hazel eyes as they roamed the hallway. He was fit too.

The other one was thin, but taller than the other. He had dark, blue eyes as they looked from door to door. He had blond hair, but it seemed to look brown in dim lights.

"Scotty," The blond one said, "guess what?"

"What? I'm at work can this wait?" Scotty asked, sounding rather annoyed.

"I guess, but we're already here so we're going to tell you." He said.

"But first," the other said in a British accent, "who's your friend?"

He pointed at me and I rolled my eyes. I looked at Scotty and he spoke for me, "This is Y/N. Y/n, this is Bryce and Craig."

I waved and Bryce waved normally while the other did it flirtatiously. Please don't.

"What do you two want? Mrs. Williams is on our asses because all the books in this section are fucked up and we don't have time for this." Scotty lied.

"Funny you should say that, actually." Bryce said, pulling out a paper out of his back pocket, "Mrs. Williams is the owner of this library and has been for...how long now?"

"Don't know, don't care." Scotty said.

"You probably should because of this picture." Craig said, taking the picture from Bryce and flipping it around to showing it to Scotty and me.

I don't know what caught my eye first: Mrs. Williams in the background, but she looks exactly the same way she does now, or the fact that the mini versions of Craig and Bryce were looking at a 16-year-old version of Brock because he was reading to them.

I widened my eyes, but soon corrected myself and said, "Not everyone ages the same."

"Yes, but look how similar she looks in this picture compared to her now." Bryce said.

"This was taken like twelve years ago." Craig added.

I shrugged and Scotty said, "Is this all you wanted to show me?"

"Actually no," Craig said, "there's also these."

He pulled out a few more pictures and the one on top was him and Bryce a bit older. This time, Mrs. Williams was reading in her office and 13-year-old David was at the counter, helping a costumer.

"Look how young the guy behind the counter looks." Craig commented.

"He's probably around 13 or so." Bryce said, "Back then, as long as you had some form of common sense, you could work nearly anywhere."

He moved it and there was another picture with Mrs. Williams in the background, still looking old and creepy while there was a 14-year-old Evan putting away books.

Next one also had Mrs. Williams and two guys with their backs turned to the camera while. I knew who they were though, due to the omega symbol and blue hoodie.

The one after that had a young Luke, looking around while Mrs. Williams also lurked in the back.

Each picture was pretty much the same but very surprising each time. There was always a longer version of the boys and then Mrs. Williams also in the back. One that looked kind of old had a guy I've never seen before. That must've been the ChilledChaos guy.

The second to last and the last one were the ones that honestly got my full attention. The second to last one had that Lui guy and Mrs. Williams scolding him and the last one had me. Yes, me and Mrs. Williams was looking straight at me with no visible emotion on her face.

I tried to keep my cool. "Is that me in the background?" I asked.

They examined the picture and nodded. "Yeah, sorry about that." Bryce said, "This is where Craig and I first met so we come here every year and take a picture."

"It's for our mom's." Craig said.

I nodded but that was still really freaky. I honestly don't know if this meant anything or not, but this can't just be a coincidence.

"Okay," Scotty said, "now that you two have showed your theory and evidence, can you leave so we can finish cleaning?"

They nodded. "Jest be careful." Bryce said, "We still need you, Scotty."

He gave them a half-hearted smiled and hugged them. They soon left and we turned back to the ghosts.

"Did you guys see all those pictures?" I asked.

They nodded, but they didn't show too much emotion. Not like they weren't surprised, just confused how to feel. I understand though. I was in one and I barely know how to even function at the moment.

I looked at Scotty, but he obviously didn't have anything to say. We were all just speechless, scared, and really confused. All I wanted was some fucking answers.

I sighed, "Let's just get the last book then we can leave. Okay?"

They all nodded and we all dragged and shuffled our way back into the room.

We all looked at the book on the window and something occurred to me: What's going to happen when we let this person go? Are they just going to become humans again or is it going to be like a video game and Mrs. Williams is the boss fight?

I took a deep breath, pushing the thought to the back of my head and looked at the book. No matter what, I want these guys to be free and I want to be able to show myself that I did something good, even if other people won't realize.

"How are we supposed to get that out?" Brock asked.

I looked at everyone and Evan spoke up, "Can someone pick me up? I'll give it a try."

Luke walked to him and got down. Evan swung his leg over and soon they were up. Even grabbed the book and pulled as hard as he could, but it wasn't even phased. Evan yelled as he pulled, but his hands eventually slipped and he flung himself back. He would've fell if Delirious wasn't behind them.

As Delirious held Evan like they just got married, David quietly chuckled behind me, "OTP."

Delirious put him down and everyone's attention went right back to the window.

"We've got to break it." Scotty said.

I whipped my head to him, "Are you insane?"

He threw his arms to motion the window and said, "You've got a better idea, Y/N?"

"Not at the moment, but we can't just break the damn glass." I said.

"But-"

"But nothing." I finished.

Everyone groaned as I straightened out my shirt. I felt a sharp pain take over my stomach that nearly sent me toppling over. I didn't, however, I instead just grabbed my stomach and looked away. The action only made the pain worst and I wanted to scream; It felt like someone just ran a knife across my stomach.

"Y/N," Evan asked, "you okay?"

I nodded, "I'm fine, but my stomach just started to hurt."

"Cramps?" Tyler asked.

I raised and eyebrow and looked at him with an I-will-cut-you face, "No, Tyler, it's not cramps."

He put his hands up in defense, "Just asking."

I rolled my eyes and sighed soon after, "I don't know how we're going to get this book out."

"Like this." A demonic, yet familiar voice said.

Soon, I felt something wrap around me. I looked down an saw a dark form of a rope tied around my waist. I turned around and saw Lui.

I gasped as everything happened so fast.

Imagine yourself in a car that had to make a sudden stop at stop light, sending you and any other passenger forward, but you seatbelt kept you right where you're supposed to be. Then after you sit still for a second, you thinks everything is okay until the driver presses the gas petal as hard and as fast as they can, shooing you on your way, you seat holding you from possibly flying back.

That's basically what happened to me, and from the sound of it, to Scotty as well. The rope flung us back, nearly giving me whiplash, and shot us forward sooner than you can snap.

Glass breaking and screams of terror were the only things I heard.

Blood and fresh rain was the only thing I smelt. Pain was the only thing I felt and it was all focused on my left side; the side I was laying on. I took my right hand and tried to lift myself up, but the grass was to slick and lose blades got stuck to my hand when I pulled it away.

I tried to yell, but an iron taste took over my mouth. I opened my eyes and saw a lifeless Scotty next to me. I widened my eyes and tried to scream, yet again, but a cough came out instead. I put my hand over my mouth as saw blood drip down my hand and to the grass.

I looked at Scotty again. His cold, dull blue eyes stared at me like he was surprised at the outcome of what just happened, but blood drained itself from his mouth. His skin looked paler than ever and very pasty.

I tried to look away, but my eyes kept going to the deceased man laying next to me. Hot, salty tears rolled down my face and into my wounds, making me flinch. Not only did I loose a friend, but imagine how his family and other friends are going to feel. Imagine how Chrissy's going to feel.

I put my hand back on the grass and flipped myself to my back, making tiny glass pieces dig into my skin even more. I glanced at Scotty again, but did a double take when I saw something that wasn't in my line of vision before.

It was a black hard back with a cute, chubby panda. In a rather dreamy font, it said over it, "BigJigglyPanda."

I forced my right arm to grab the book, but it took forever because every inch was nothing but pain, making me stop for a little before continuing. Lighting flashed when I finally touched the book and thunder roared in my ears when I opened it.

"Oh my god." Someone said. He sounded orotund and upset.

I looked at the library-the only place with any light at the moment-and stared as the rain fell and created a man with black pants, a white shirt, and a panda hat. He sat on the window ledge, looking at Scotty and I.

His amber eyes looked at Scotty and I with sadness. His dark brown hair poked out of his hat and fell in his face.

I nudged my head to Scotty and said, "H-Help him...please."

Everything hurt and now my throats was burning from speaking. The new panda-man didn't move.

"I can't." He whispered.

"Please." I cried out, but he clearly couldn't.

What was he going to do? CPR clearly wasn't going to help and he obviously wasn't a fucking doctor.

He turned around and jumped into the library. After what felt like hours, everyone popped their heads out the window. Their eyes landed on Scotty and never looked back. Most of their jaws dropped while some started crying. The rest looked away, not being able to even look at the corpse.

"Help him." I croaked.

Evan glanced at me and tried to get out the window, but after about two feet out, something pushed him back. It was an invisible shield of some sort.

"You know you can't leave, Evan." Brian choked as he sobbed.

"But..." Evan looked at him for a split second before looking back at us, "Scotty and Y/N."

"Dammit, Evan, I want to help too but we can't leave!" Marcel yelled.

The rain continued to pour as they argued, but the answer was clear. Scotty was dead and no one can come help me.

"Why..." I breathed out, making them turn to me, "Why...can't you leave?"

"It was apart of the deal." Evan said, "We can't leave the library as ghosts; we need our lives back."

I thought for a second then said, "But, you're all out...of the books...why..."

"Because that's not your decision to make."

I looked at Lui laying in between Scotty and I. I couldn't move or even react the way I wanted. I just moved my head as looked at him and he looked at me, chaos and horror dancing in his eyes.

"What..." I tried to ask but couldn't finish my sentence.

I could feel my blood leave me and the dirt seep into my wounds.

"That's Mrs. Williams decision." He explained, "See, the deal that they made was with life itself and you and your friend over here are just pons to this game. Mrs. Williams is the one to call the shots."

My breath hitched and I forced out, "I don't understand."

"Well," he said, "she was the one who decided to trap them. Mrs. Williams is from one of the tenth dimensions. I believe it was like dimension 30 or 40. Anyway, the first dimension controls everything, but if you live in one of the dimensions that end in zero, you get to go to any other dimension and just fuck around.

"Why she chose dimension 22, I have not fucking clue. But there's a lot of people from those dimensions that like to come here. This dimension is just so easy to fuck with and ruin. Most people just single someone out, but Mrs. Williams likes to give Life a run for their money." He finished with a laugh.

"Wait..." I whispered as I gasped for air, "so this whole thing was for Mrs. Williams to please Life?"

He nodded, "It keeps her alive. Literally."

"How...How do you know this?" I asked.

"Simple, I refused to give in because I knew the reality and Life took me in and explained the whole story of the situation and moved me from this dimension to the 20th. I'm still in between them, however, because of that damn book."

"So earlier you were just toying with us." I growled, ripping up my throat.

He laughed and nodded, "Pretty much. Don't take it too hard. Your life isn't just a useless game piece. I mean, look at you now! You almost saved over ten men and made them actually enjoy the rest of their lives! Life thought is was amusing how you thought you were actually capable of defeating him.

"But, here you are now, laying on the ground, probably going to die soon and no one will care. Unless, of course, you and your friend want to be in a book?" He asked.

I shook my head, not being able to respond with words.

He shrugged, "The two of you will be as good as new if someone like you happens to stumble across it and open it."

I glanced at the library, but quickly looked back at him, "Why does Mrs. Williams get...get to choose if they get their lives back? I...I let them free."

"Again, you're a nobody compared to her." He laughed, "in this dimension, you only get one chance of life, and you fucking blew it on a wild goose chase."

I was silent for a really long time and said, "Put Scotty in a book."

"Y/N, no." Brock said from the window.

I didn't looked at him and kept my eyes on Lui. "I hope Life is listening when I say this because I'm not repeating it: If I let you put Scotty in your old book, and someone opens it, he had to be alive and well when they find him. Also, the rest them get their lives back and they can leave. No problems, no hunting them down, and no questions."

He chuckled, "What about you?"

I raised an eyebrow, "I still got a book checked out, so if I die, I ain't going anywhere, Dumbass."

He laughed, "But you won't come back."

I shrugged, "I'll still have a better story than yours."

Lui laughed and said, "What makes you think Life will cooperate with you on this? He didn't keep their deal, so why would he keep yours."

"Because Mrs. Williams wanted me in a book." I explained, "No one else who works here would open a book that doesn't have a title nor author and I'm guessing this isn't a frequent thing for people now and days to open a random book because Evan's book was laying out in plan sight in a place only I would go. If Mrs. Williams doesn't get me in a book, Life will have no more use for this library and everyone, including you, will die within it because no more Mrs. Williams means no more library. Life wanted a run for their money, they're sure gonna get it from me."

He was silent, realizing I was right. He growled and sat up, pulled a book out of his hoodie pocket, pointed it at Scotty and opened it. Scotty soon was gone into the ink and paper. He threw the book into the library and Luke caught it and examined it.

After a little, it glow and gold and the dark red, leather book soon turned into a pink and blue hardback.

"He agreed to be a ghost." Luke announced.

I looked at Lui and said, "Where's Arlan?"

He glanced at the book and said, "With your friend."

Lui growled and was about to leave, but I made myself push off the ground, grab him, used him as a leaver to help me up, and grabbed onto the broken window ledge.

Lui cursed at me while he landed on the ground and the pain filled my whole body, making me want to scream.

"Give...give me the book." I commanded.

Evan and Tyler held onto my arms so I wouldn't fall before I got the book. Luke handed me it and I opened it without hesitation and flung back, landing on Lui.

"You bitch!" He screamed and pushed me off.

Light was leaving as two figures started to form from the rain. My vision was hazy and I was about to pass out, but the last thing I saw was two figures land onto the ground , try and run to me, but the shield blocked it.

I closed my eyes, knowing who the two were and that they were okay and alive.

Suddenly all the pain went away and I didn't feel anything. I didn't smell, feel, or hear anything either. I opened my eyes, but saw just black. I pushed myself off the ground and looked to see if anything was different. I opened my mouth to say something, but I was quickly shut up with a burst of light.

I landed in the romance section, but quickly ran to the fantasy section and looked around. The boys were at the window, staring at it. It wasn't broken anymore and where the old boo was, was now just a regular widow piece. They weren't translucent anymore and Delirious and Ohm weren't wearing masks. I couldn't see their faces, though. They had their faces turned away.

I opened my mouth to ask them what just happened, but a familiar demon interrupted, "They can't hear you."

I turned and faced Lui, "What..."

"You're dead, but they're alive." He explained.

I nearly choked on air at the answer. After I calmed down, I looked at him and said, "Why...Why is this a thing? Why us? What did we ever do to deserve this type of treatment?"

He shrugged, looks me dead in the eyes and said, "Life's not fair."
