Chapter 17
Chapter Seventeen
Delivery?
A knock on the door made me flinch since it was all quiet in my room, I opened it and saw Captain Levi staring at the ground before making eye contact with me, again his eyes captivating me.
"Yes?" I managed to blurt out.
"Are the dresses all packed up?" He asked.
"Mhm." I nodded and widened the door letting him in.
"Just two boxes? Thought there would be more." He questioned as he carried them.
"Ah, I made 5 but two of them are for me and Hange." I explained.
"Oh, you attend the ball?" He looked at me.
"Yes." I gulped as my eyes looked around my room for composure. "Hange makes me go, she left me all alone though which I don't quite understand."
"She's too excited to care for those who don't wish to attend the ball." He shook his head as his glare intensified. "So, what did you do all night?"
Why is he all curious all of a sudden?
Wait, he needs to answer my question!
"Woah, getting way ahead of yourself Captain." I take a step back crossing my arms. "You told me I can ask you a question right now."
"I did, didn't I?" He glanced away.
"Can I ask?" I try to meet his eyes as my head tilted in the direction he seemed to stare at. "Why are you taking sudden interest in me? You usually yell at me."
"I—" He started as his breath hitched. "I realize that my actions may have been too harsh, I still stand by what I said but... You've shown great strength, you aren't so annoying."
"Really?" I raised my eyebrow. "Well, Hange said I used to act like you back at boot camp."
"Is that so?" He finally looked at me raising an eyebrow. "In what way?"
I looked away and staring at the sewing tools I had, my fingers started playing with themselves as I grew nervous.
"Aggression, she had a hard time becoming friends with me... I gave her a pretty hard time." I confessed with a small smile recalling the memory. "I remember the arguments we'd have. It was horrible."
"So you're saying I'm the troublemaker?" He crossed his arms.
"That's not— Hey! Would you stop trying to flip things?" My eyebrows furrowed as I ball my hand into a fist ready to punch him.
"Well, she did get one thing right." He eyed my fist. "You are aggressive."
"Get out!" I shooed him to the door not caring if I was being rude, he was making me really nervous. "Go deliver them!"
"Why the rush?" I swear I saw a slight smirk form on his face. "Are you occupied at the moment?"
"I have a scheduled curfew at the moment, yes." I insisted as I pointed at the door. "Out."
"You know," He looked at the door and then back to me. "It would be a shame if these were delivered to the wrong people-"
"Let's go," I scowled grabbing a sweater and heading out the door with him following.
He was really fucking annoying at this point, why did he need me to help him deliver the boxes? He was holding onto both of them it's not like I would be much help! And he delivered the first one this morning so what gives? Fucking bastard.
I wanted to sleep right now.
"Hey guys," Eren walked up to us as we walked down the hall. "Have you seen Mikasa around?"
"Probably with Armin or Jean." I replied. "Hoping it's Armin."
"Me too," He smiled faintly before passing us, Captain Levi kept a stern look on his face as we made it to the small houses.
I watched as he delivered the dresses with a somewhat gentle look on his face that I didn't think would be possible to see. He seemed... Fine... Okay.
"So.." I began as we walked down the paths and admiring the stars in the sky. "Why did you need me to come with?"
"I'm going to be attending the ball, I wondered if you could give me some pointers as to how it works." He blurted out and I whipped my head to look at him.
"Huh?" I stopped in my tracks. "You, Captain Levi- AT A BALL?"
"Shut it," He whipped his head away to avoid meeting my eyes as we continued to walk down the path. "I just want to see how the atmosphere is like."
"Why are you telling me this? Seriously," I deadpanned.
"You said it yourself, you're almost like me." He scoffed. "This doesn't mean I care or trust you, I'm just saying that we both fight similar. You're not so hard to talk to."
"How about Hange?" I questioned.
"She gets too excited, she blabbers to everyone too." He glared. "Idiots like her can't keep anything private."
"And you think I can keep something private?" I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Yes." He stared into my eyes and something clicked in me.
I know him.
I've met him before, I swear. My memory is so bad what the hell, where did I meet him before?
He turned away clenching his jaw as we finally made it back to my room.
"I'll be going now," He announced not letting me even say bye to him, he marched straight away.
What the hell was that? Shit, it's late I should probably head to bed. I open my door and closed it locking it, I walked over to my closet and opened it revealing the black dress I've been waiting to wear.
Just a few hours left. I'm nervous. Was he serious about...? About us being similar? I don't know, I don't want to get my hopes up high, why did my cheeks heat up at the thought of him trusting me? This guy infuriates me.
I don't like him.
I don't like him one bit.
