Chapter5: Contemporary Prodigy

Chapter5-Contemporary Prodigy

April 10, 2010

It's a few days later, and it's very early in the morning. The sun wasn't even out yet. All of the 7th Anthem members were asleep. They had a TV gig later in the evening, so they had the day off.

The doorbell rang, but no one heard it. Then Justin's iPhone buzzed on his nightstand. He woke up, and picked up his phone. He saw text from Brandon. He asked Justin to open the door.

Justin got up from his bed, and groggily walked up to the door of the band's condo. He saw Brandon acting jumpy. He quickly said to Justin, "Morning, Justin!"

Justin tiredly stared at Brandon as he asked, "You're awfully cheery."

"I had a venti coffee, and now I'm hyper. Trust me, I'm not a morning person."

"So why are you here if you hate the morning?"

"Actually, I'm here for Andrew. I want to take him to a dance audition."

Justin was slightly surprised by this, but too tired to show it. He said to Brandon, "I'll go wake him up. Do you want to come in?"

Brandon agreed. Then Justin let him in, and went into Andrew's room. Justin decided to wake Andrew up by calling his iPhone. His phone buzzed on his nightstand, and it woke him up.

Then he saw Justin standing over him. Andrew asked groggily, "What are you doing here? Go back to sleep."

Justin said, "Brandon's here to see you."

 "Why?"

 "He'll tell you."

So Andrew reluctantly got up, and went into the living room. He saw Brandon sitting on the couch. Brandon smiled as he said, "Andrew, you look great!"

Andrew said in a monotone, "I feel like crap. Why are you here so early?"

"I'm here to take you to a dance audition. So put on your dance clothes, and bring extra clothes because I know you'll sweat like crazy."

Andrew stared at Brandon, and then asked, "A dance audition? For what?"

 "It's a very well-known contemporary dance company."

"I'm in a band. I don't have to time to commit to a dance company."

"I know, but I really want you to get the feel of auditioning for a company. I know you can do it. If we leave now, we make the dance studio by 7. It starts at 8."

Andrew didn't know what to think. He was surprised to hear Brandon, supposedly, supporting him. Andrew then went back to his room, changed, put extra clothes in a sports bag, and left the condo with Brandon.

The two guys stopped at a Starbucks so Andrew can get a venti and a breakfast sandwich. Soon, they arrived at the dance studio. Andrew was told that if he makes it through several rounds, he'll have to present a solo. So he chose a song from his phone, and quickly put together.

Soon, it was time for the audition. Brandon was allowed to watch the audition process. So far, Andrew had soared through. He even got a chance to showcase his solo, set to the song, The Garden.

After it was all over, Andrew met with the dance director. He said to Andrew, "You were great, Andrew. It's a shame that you're busy with 7th Anthem. But me, and the adjunct choreographers are willing to have you as our guest dancer and choreographer."

 Andrew smiled, and asked, "Really?"

"Yes. Your position will be open for any up-coming season. Whenever you're available, I hope you join us."

 "Yeah, I will!"

Then Andrew thanked the dance director and the choreographers, and left the dance studio. He quickly changed into his fresh clothes, and left the building with Brandon.

The two guys stopped at a sandwich restaurant to eat lunch. Brandon said to Andrew, "You were great, Andrew. You were even offered to be a guest dancer and choreographer."

Andrew gave a short laugh, and said, "I know I was great. I'm a Hawthorne. I'm naturally a badass, but what I want to know is why did you take me to company audition?"

Brandon was visibly annoyed with Andrew's arrogance, so he explained, "That's just it. You're a great dancer. Your technique is almost perfect. But you need an attitude check. You act so cocky, but I see right through you. You're insecure of yourself."

Andrew glared at Brandon. He continued, "Anyway, the reason why I took you to that audition is to realize that I don't think you suck as a dancer. Like I said, you're a great, strong dancer. You practically made for the world of modern dance, but you won't get anywhere with your bitchy, snobby, diva attitude. The least you could do is be honest with yourself."

Andrew then gave a smirk as he said, "It looks like you don't know me. Actually, there's a lot things you don't know, and most of it I don't even want to tell the public. Trust me, you don't want to know who I was before I joined 7th Anthem. The only thing I can tell is that I had a very complicated life, and that's how I became a badass to this day."

With that, Andrew got up from the table. As he was about to leave the restaurant, he said to Brandon, "You're my ride, and I see a couple of paparazzi outside. You take me back to the flat."

Brandon reluctantly agreed to take Andrew back to the condo. When Andrew entered the building, he saw the 7A members fully awake. Alyson approached him, saying, "Justin told me that Brandon took you to dance company audition. How was it?"

Andrew replied, "Great! I was offered a position as a guest dancer and choreographer."

"Was Brandon being nice to you?"

Andrew smirked as he said, "I'm sure he has good intentions, but he acts like he knows me. Trust me, he doesn't. I'm Andrew f*cking Hawthorne. I'm a natural badass. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take a nap. I've been up since 5 in the morning."

Then he went his room. Alyson was puzzled by what he said, but soon brushed it off as Andrew being his arrogant self.
