3. Trial and Resentment
"They both look pretty bad." You whispered to Kirishima as Bakugou and Midoriya finished their battle.
"Yeah, that was intense." He shivered.
"Bakugou is mad mean." Sero added.
You shrugged. "He's just a whiny baby to me. I am starting to love giving him a hard time. His reactions are priceless." You grinned wickedly.
Though that was true, you couldn't help but wonder why things were always so intense between the two of them. Bakugou had looked at Midoriya like he genuinely wanted to kill him.
It was terrifying.
Kirishima laughed as he patted your head and you resisted the urge to flip him over and throw him to the ground. People always thought they could do things like that just because you were on the shorter side, it pissed you off.
Shaking with irritation—you soon entered the C grounds to set up for your battle.
"So you two are the best line of defense." You pointed out as Sero taped a maze of sorts to give the hero team trouble.
"I was thinking the same thing, you would be stellar offense." Kirishima grinned, deactivating his quirk after you had praised his clear defensive skills.
You shrugged. "I'm definitely the quietest on my feet. With the little I know about Tokoyami and Asui, they both seem to be incredibly stealthy. Tokoyami seems more equipped to come charging in first, but I could be wrong." You spoke with your hand placed particularly under your chin.
Sero's eye were wide. "How do you know?" He tilted his head.
"I paid attention to the little bits everyone showed of their quirks yesterday. His seems really strong and Asui is more equipped for stealth attacks and rescue. Though the obvious darkness that comes with Tokoyami's quirk definitely gives him sneak points." You spewed off your observations.
"So you will go find them, Sero will guard the door, and I'll be the last line of defense." Kirishima spoke, flexing again, as All Might announced the entrance of the hero team.
You nodded firmly. "Leave it to me." You grinned.
"Aizawa is so manly." Kirishima beamed.
You dashed down the halls, sticking closely to the walls as you listened carefully. As you moved, each hand anxiously touched each wall back and forth, in perfect rhythm with each step you took.
"My thought is the weapon is hidden on the top floor." You heard Asui try to be quiet, but she had such a distinct voice it was hard not to pick up on it.
"I agree." You snorted at how awkwardly Tokoyami spoke.
"Do you think it is best to split up or stick together?"
"Let's split up, we don't know what their plan is, let's communicate through the headsets."
"Ribbit." Asui nodded as she hopped in your direction.
You quickly floated towards the ceiling and began walking on it. Once she was about three steps ahead you released your quirk and barreled towards her.
You grabbed ahold of her torso and the two of you rolled onto the ground screaming.
Once the movement stopped you found yourself pinned down.
"Aizawa!" She was surprised. She knew you were sneaky but the way you seemingly came out of no where was incredible to her.
"Oh Asui—we just met, this is a little early." You spoke bashfully as you playfully swatted at her shoulder.
"Ribbit don't be weird." She found herself laughing softly which gave you an opening to kick her off you.
She bounced back quickly and the two of you stood in readied positions.
"Sorry Asui I can't let you pass. I don't like losing." You grinned as you shrugged.
"I don't either—and call me Tsu!" She wrapped her tongue around your wrist and pulled you towards her. You placed your foot out in front of you and once it made impact with the wall, you focused excess strength into your limb and flipped backwards.
"Alright Tsu—you wanna play? Let's play." You fixed your stance before placing your hand to your ear.
"How's the weapon?" You spoke to your teammates through your ear piece as you dodged a punch from Tsu. You continued moving from side to side, dodging either her tongue or her fists—she was really fast.
"We still haven't been located by Tokoyami. We will keep you updated and let you know if we need backup." Kirishima responded promptly.
"You shouldn't need to." You replied as your fist finally collided with her face.
"You've located Asui?" His voice was simply background noise as Asui hit the wall and you whipped out two of your ninja stars. You flicked your wrist and they hit the very edge of her costume—pinning her arms to the wall.
You shot your scarf in her direction and it wrapped around her ankle. She squirmed, but you managed to get the tie around her, barely dodging her free foot she kicked at you.
"Thanks for the fun fight." You smiled at her, following the expression with a wink.
"You're really awesome Aizawa." She spoke in awe.
"I know." You grinned and as her face contorted you felt flustered. "Sorry—I was caught up in the moment." You giggled. "Let's train together sometime!" You called out to her now that you were running back towards your group.
All Might watched with the students and his mouth was agape. Her skill is incredible...they created a monster! He watched in awe as you flawlessly moved across the training grounds, occasionally setting off your quirk to make your travel easier.
You made your way back up to the floor that contained the weapon and found your teammates up against Tokoyami.
Shit I was gone to long.
"Aizawa! I was just about to contact you." You heard Sero yell.
"Glad I made it in time." You fell into a rhythm of fighting alongside the two boys.
Now with the three of you up against Tokoyami, the battle ended effortlessly. As Sero tied him up All Might's voice was over the intercom.
"The villain team wins!"
You were panting, surprisingly out of breath after that experience. It wasn't everyday that you went up against young, strong people. Everyone from your training group today fought differently and you found it all to intriguing.
"Is your face okay?" His sudden question startled you, and you looked up at Kirishima.
"Oh?" You reached up and felt a stinging bruise across your cheek. "She did get in a really good hit." You grinned as you made punching motions out in front of you.
"You're really talented." He was still speaking awe-like. "It's so manly!" He grinned happily and laughed, not commenting on your silly gestures.
You rubbed the back of your neck. "It's recently been brought to my attention that I have been to conceded today." You blushed. "So—thank you." You bowed, trying to be more humble.
He laughed. "What did you train in before this school? The way your body moves is almost unnatural!"
You smiled, always eager to talk about the hard work you put in. "Gymnastics. It built up some crazy strength and helps me move more fluidly when I'm using martial arts."
"Have you always wanted to be a hero?" He asked as you made your way out of the training grounds.
You nodded. "As long as I can remember. It's always been this drive I've had." You were quiet for a moment. "I've never been able to explain it."
He missed the last part. "I wish I had decided young that I wanted to be a hero." He sulked. "I feel so behind everyone else."
"No you're great. You finished top ten already—that's pretty freaking awesome." You smiled as you playfully bumped his shoulder with your fist.
"Oh stop it Aizawa you're going to make me blush!" He covered his face and you couldn't help but laugh.
"Aizawa-San!" You turned your head and Tsu rushed over towards you.
"Heyo!"
"Where did you learn how to do all that? Your weapons to—they're so cool! Those shoes are so light weight aren't they? I didn't even hear you."
You laughed. "Yeah! Walking on the ceiling is my favorite part about floating." You beamed.
"Did you mean it ribbit? I can train with you?"
You nodded. "You're also very stealthy and I think we could learn tons from each other! I train a lot after school—since my dad, you know." You laughed.
"Great—ribbit! Don't be surprised if you have lots of people trying to train with you." She smiled.
Your expression went stoic. "Oh I don't think they could hack it." You grinned as your eyes scanned across the remainder of your classmates. "Where is Midoriya?"
"He should be in Recovery Girl's office ribbit. Careful though, you may find Bakugou sulking around there somewhere." She warned.
You looked all over for them once the school day ended. It wasn't until you had finally given up when you saw the two boys ending a heated conversation.
"Is he okay?" You popped up behind Izuku and he was just as frightened to see you as he was the last few times you seemingly popped out of nowhere.
"Ah! Aizawa. I don't know." He whispered.
"He doesn't like you very much." You spoke with your hands firmly placed on your hips as you shook your head.
"No, he and I haven't gotten along in a long time."
"I'll go talk to him-" before you could make a move All Might came running in.
"Ah, young Bakugou!"
You adverted your eyes to Izuku. "Is he always going to be like that?" You asked with a snort.
You noticed his eyes softened as he nodded. "Yeah—uh I mean probably!" Your brows furrowed.
"You're an odd one."
"Huh?! Me?" Midoriya shrieked and you laughed hard.
"Well I wasn't much help." The two of you looked up as All Might came grumbling towards the two of you. He looked surprised to see you standing there with the battered boy.
"Ah, you Aizawa I didn't see you there." He almost seemed nervous.
"No one usually does." You spoke with a low smirk, internally complimenting yourself on your stealth.
He was taken aback. "Ah—well I meant to commemorate you on your training exercise today. It was very well executed. I will have to admit that you show to be a bit father along than the rest of your classmates when it comes to combat training."
Your eyes narrowed. He was trying to find something out from you—but you weren't entirely sure what he was getting at. "Well I do have a pro hero as a father." You took a step back.
"That certainly does help doesn't it!" He looked like he wished to ask you more but your father approached the three of you.
"Y/n."
You were relieved to see your exhausted old man. "Hey." You smiled as you rushed to his side.
"We will be leaving now, All Might I would suggest you take my advice." He warned as he gently grabbed your arm.
You furrowed your brows, what advice was he talking about?
"Aizawa you old grump! I'm just talking to my students about their training exercises! No need to get so bent out of shape about it."
Your father's grip on your arm tightened slightly. "See you tomorrow Midoriya."
"Right—good night you two!" The boy stammered.
"What was that about?" You asked as the two of you walked off.
He still had a firm expression written across his face. "Nothing you need to concern yourself with." He always says that. "You're cooking dinner tonight." He said, hoping to distract you.
"What the hell!? It's not my fault I got caught up!" You screamed.
"Okay, then you can run another six miles." He countered.
"Dinner it is." You sulked.
Aizawa smiled ever so slightly as he watched you pout, though he couldn't ignore the bad feeling that was gathering. He needed to talk to Gran Torino. All Might was trying to hard to discover the truth about your identity, which puts you in serious danger.
They agreed that keeping your former identity a secret from you and everyone else would be for the best—but now he wasn't so sure.
