ChapterEight-Hollywood Acceptance 

August 29th, 2005

 It's now August, and UTurn has finished their New England's Teen Superstar tour. So far, they've released an EP album called, Introducing UTurn! It has a few songs, and it was released exclusively in the New England region. UTurn has been promoting this EP by doing a mall tour in major cities of the New England region. 

 They're now back in their Boston house, resting up before they start promotions for their official debut single, Here We Go. Stacie was on her laptop, then she squealed. Riley and Amanda, her roommates, looked up from their laptops.

 Riley asked, "Stacie, what is it?"

 Amanda scoffed, "Probably staring at a Backstreet Boy."

 Stacie beamed, "That would be nice, but no. I just found all these UTurn fan pages on MySpace from different states. See? There's one in New York. Pennsylvania has one, and so does New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland."

 Riley exclaimed, "That's actually pretty cool! We're getting bigger in the US."

 "And that's not all. There are fan pages from Canadian provinces, like Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island. There's even a fan page for all of Canada."

 Amanda said, "It's probably that EP we released. Our music is all over YouTube."

 Riley said, "Let's go show this to the others."

 As the rest of the UTurn members checked out the numbers out-of-state, out-of-region, and out-of-country fan pages, Alyson's cell phone rang. After a few minutes, she hung up.

 Andrew asked, "Who was that, Aly?"

 She replied, "It was Maurice. He told us we have a meeting tomorrow in NYC. Since it's just a 1-day trip, we just pack a few things."

 "Why are we going to New York City? Can't he just have the meeting here?"

 Ethan scoffed, "He's probably too much of a lazy-ass to come here to Boston."

 Justin scolded Ethan, "Seriously Ethan, you need to shut the f*ck up. He's our manager, not some jerk-ass from high school."

 Amanda said, "I'd hate to admit it, but I'm with Justin on this. Even though I hate the fact that Maurice made our stylist to make me look like Alyson."

 So the UTurn members packed up, and left for NYC.

 It's the next day, and UTurn arrived at a Hollywood Records in NYC. They've never been inside a major record label before. Then they found the boardroom where the meeting was being held. They saw some people talking with Maurice.

 Alyson asked, "Maurice, who are these people?"

 Maurice replied, "These are executives of Hollywood Records. This major label is owned by Disney, and is the home of Hilary Duff. Anyway, these executives have heard your EP on YouTube, and bought it while visiting Boston. They even attended one of your mall concerts."

 One of the executives said, "We like what we hear and see. You're sort of like S Club 7, A*Teens, Jump5, American Juniors, and Savvy combined."

 Amanda asked, "What's 'Savvy'?"

 "An 8-member tween pop group from Texas. Anyway, you're very talented; your music stands out from the usual in Boston; and you'll be big on Radio Disney."

 Another executive said, "We want to sign you to our label. Now, you'll still be signed with Q Division Records. It's only until we see how successful you'll be next year."

 Bailey asked, "Do our parents know about this?"

 Maurice said, "I already notified them. They agreed to this."

 Alyson then said, "And another thing: Have you ever heard of S Club 8?"

 The first executive replied, "Yes, we're familiar with them. We tried to get them here to America, but it didn't work out."

 "We're like the new, American S Club 8, even though Justin is British. S Club 8 is our influence. We dress like them. Our music is similar to theirs. Even our dance routines are similar."

 Ethan said in an irritated tone, "Get to the point, blondie."

 Alyson continued, "We want to remain the way we are. We are not to become all pop-rock. It's okay if we dabble with it, but not do some cheesy emo pop-rock. Is that understood?"

 The executives and Maurice talked amongst themselves for a minute, then they faced UTurn. One of them said, "We'll let you be S Club 8."

 Alyson grinned, and the members signed the contract for Hollywood Records. As they left the building, Andrew spoke up, "Did those Disney executive said we would stay with Q Division until we become successful?"

 Justin said, "Yeah, they did. Why?"

 Andrew thought for a moment, then he ran back inside Hollywood Records. 

 Ethan asked sourly, "What is that f*cker doing?"

 Alyson scolded him, "Leave my boyfriend alone! He hasn't anything to you. He was nothing but a friend to you. But you treat him like shit! C'mon, let's meet up with Andrew."

 So the other members ran inside the building. Ethan just stood outside the building, fuming.

 At the same time, Andrew burst into the boardroom. The other members followed him. When Andrew entered, he saw just Maurice.

 Andrew asked breathlessly, "Where are the executives?"

 Maurice replied, "They just left. Why? Do you need to talk to them?"

 Andrew said, "No, I guess just you is fine. Anyway, I was thinking, since we're gonna start promoting our debut album, we should promote our music heavily. Think of it: The more promos we do, the bigger we'll be. Hell, we could even be bigger than S Club 8! No offense, Aly."

 Alyson said, "None taken. Besides, I'm with Andrew on this. We should go worldwide!"

 The other UTurn members agreed. Just then, Ethan met up with the members. He remained silent.

 Maurice said, "I don't know. I can't make you work too hard due to child labor laws."

 Riley said, "I'm 18, so I wouldn't fall under those laws. But everyone else are either 16 or about to turn 16. They're not little kids. I think they can handle the work. Especially since Andrew lead the busiest life he had."

 Andrew said, "She's right. I did so much stuff, and I wasn't even 15 yet. So if I can handle being in summer musicals in NYC, be in a few tween/teen dance companies, be in a tween theatre company, be in Boston's most popular children's choir, and play basketball in middle school and high school, I can handle traveling around the world."

 Stacie added, "Yeah, and besides we got fan pages from the east coast of America, and we're gaining a bunch of fans from Canada. We got a good shot at making it big."

 Maurice said, "I guess we can do this. I'll set up gigs from different TV shows, radio, and magazines across North America. You're lucky you just signed with Hollywood Records. I don't think Q Division could handle this heavy promotion."
