ChapterNine-Known Ancestry and Secret Lies  

August 30th, 2005

 A few minutes later, UTurn arrived at a Starbucks before they go back to their hotel to pack up and return to Boston. Ethan grabbed Andrew's arm to get his attention.

 Andrew, tired of his attitude, asked, "What is it now, Ethan?"

 Ethan asked suspiciously), "Why did you tell Maurice to make us do heavy promos for our music?"

 "Why not? We're gaining fans in the east coast and Canada."

 "I'm not convinced. Are you hiding something?"

 "If I am, you would've known by now."

 Amanda decided to speak up, "Ethan, leave Andrew alone."

 Ethan dragged Amanda out of the coffee shop. He confronted her, "Stop being in love with that motherf*cker, and agree with me, bitch! You're mine, remember?"

 With that, Amanda punched Ethan's face and knee-punched his junk. She said to him sternly, "No one, and I mean NO ONE, calls me a 'bitch', 'slut', 'whore', or even 'c*nt'! As for our so-called 'relationship', it's over, f*cked up bitch!"

 Then Amanda went back inside the coffee shop. The other UTurn saw what she did to Ethan.

 Andrew asked, "What happen?"

 Amanda replied, "Ethan called me a 'bitch.'"

 Alyson said, "Well, you are a bitch. But no guy should call you that."

 It's now evening. UTurn has returned to Boston, and are back in their house. Ethan decided to pick another fight with Andrew once the finished unpacking.

 "Hey Hawthorne!" he called out.

 Andrew heavily sighed as he said, "What now? Another attempt to annoy me? Give it up already!"

 "You're English, right?"

 "What's that supposed to mean?"

 "Remember you told me you were a descendant of those pilgrims that came to Massachusetts?"

 "What about it?"

 "I think you were lying."

 "Why would you say that?"

 "Cuz you were always boasting about it. Plus, I'm gonna prove you were lying."

 Andrew said angrily, "You've already done a background check on my life in Hartford. Now you wanna disprove my ancestry? Don't you think you've gotten too personal in my life?"

 Ethan evilly grinned, "Anything to destroy you."

 Just as Ethan left the room, Alyson entered. She asked, "Andrew, is everything okay?"

 Andrew asked calmly, "Have I ever told you that I'm supposedly a descendant of those pilgrims that came to Massachusetts?"

 "Weren't you boasting about it in fourth grade?"

 "I did, but I told Ethan first. Anyway, he thinks I'm lying, so he's gonna try to disprove me."

 "Are you lying?"

 "Well, one of my cousins on my dad's side told me I was a descendant of the pilgrims. So I took his word for it."

 "Why would you do that?"

 "Aly, I was 9. How was I supposed to know?"

 "You need to do research on your family's history, and find out if your cousin is right or not."

 "I could hire a historian."

 A week later, UTurn have started promotions for their debut single, Here We Go. They've also filmed the music video. At the moment, they're appearing on different shows on different TV stations in Boston.

 After UTurn finished their gig on Great Day Boston, Andrew got a call. A few minutes later, he hung up.

 Alyson asked, "Who was it?"

 Andrew replied, "My historian. He told me he got all the info on my family's history. You could come if you like."

 Alyson agreed, and went with Andrew. Ethan saw the couple walking away. He overheard their conversation. He thought, That historian better be wrong.

 A few minutes later, Andrew and Alyson arrived at the historian's office. The historian showed Andrew's family tree from both his parents. Andrew was surprised yet satisfied by what he saw.

 An hour later, Andrew and Alyson arrived at their house. Andrew approached Ethan with a satisfied grin.

 Ethan asked, "What's the stupid grin?"

 Andrew replied smugly, "I'm actually a descendant of those pilgrims, and I'm also a descendant of English immigrants than came here in the late 1800s. If you want to get deeper into this, one of the pilgrims I've descended from is a Celtic from Cornwall. Oh, and I'm also Irish, Dutch, and Danish, but for the most part I'm English."

 Ethan asked coldly, "That historian helped you?"

 "Yeah. Oh, and I got proof right here. So give up your messed up hatred towards me."

 Andrew walked away, leaving Ethan fuming.

 It's been a few days. UTurn is getting ready to go to Hartford. Alyson gathered Justin and Bailey for a meeting. She told them, "I feel so sorry for Andrew. He never did anything to Ethan, but Ethan has this hatred towards him. Those two used to be best friends."

 Justin asked, "So what should we do? I doubt we can make them mates again in one day."

 Bailey suggested, "We can put them in a room together to make them work things out."

 Justin and Alyson agreed to this. Separately, they gathered Andrew and Ethan to one of the empty rooms in the house. When Andrew and Ethan saw each other, they weren't pleased.

 Alyson told them, "Now you two stay in there until you two come up with a solution to your broken friendship."

 Andrew and Ethan sat across from each other, and were silent for a few minutes. Then Andrew broke the silence, "What happened to us, Ethan? We used to be great friends. We'd pull pranks when we were in elementary school. We helped each other through rough times. My parents tried so hard to help your family from going broke. I'm glad, though, your family got back on their feet again."

 Ethan was obviously annoyed by this, so he spoke up coldly, "Andrew, we were never friends."

 "What?"

 "Here's what happened: I used to live in another part of Boston up until I finished first grade. My family moved to the Beacon Hill neighborhood cuz we were becoming wealthy. When I entered second grade in a new school, all the second graders and upper-class students warned me about you since you were a bully. Luckily, I avoided you, and it helped we had different teachers. One day, I bumped into you. You threaten to beat me up, even though you spoke only a few words. I was scared, and I wanted to be on your good side. So I suggested I'd become your sidekick. You seemed to like the idea, so you made me your sidekick. I did have fun for a while, but you started to treat me as if I was your friend. I went along with it. But soon you started to freak me out. You were living this double life as both this mean bully and as this Broadway prodigy. But all this time, I was never your friend. You got too close to me."

 Andrew was furious, so he beat up Ethan, but he avoided the face. Then Andrew stormed out of the room, and went into his room he shared with Justin. Justin noticed Andrew was pissed.

 Justin asked, "What happened?"

 Andrew made no response.

 It's now evening, and, after cooling off, Andrew went into Alyson/Bailey room. Both girls were in the room.

 Andrew asked quietly, "Bailey, can I talk to Alyson privately?"

 Bailey agreed and left the room. Andrew sat on Alyson's bed, while Alyson was at her desk.

 Alyson asked, "I'm sorry about what happened."

 Andrew gave a puzzled look. She noticed, so she explained, "Ethan couldn't stop blabbing about what he told you. I understand he didn't want you to beat him up. Hell, you were scary back then. But he should've at least tried to be a real friend to you."

 Andrew said, "You were my only real friend."

 "You mean in all of the grades we've been in?"

 Andrew nodded.

 Alyson said, "We were enemies most of the time. Other times we were frenemies. There were a few moments when we almost became friends. Then the rare moments we almost became a couple."

 Andrew smiled, "I still remember the first kiss I ever had, and that was with you."

 Alyson also smiled, "Oh yeah, we were in fifth grade then. I used to regret it, but now I don't since I'm with the man that truly loves me."

 Alyson kissed lightly on Andrew's lips, then it turned into a passionate kiss.
