Chapter 1: The Cold Ceo Meets The Psycho
Jennie's POV
“What kind of trash is this? Is this all you got?!” I am annoyed now.
How can they call themselves a writer if they keep on writing stories with predictable endings?
“Ma'am we will just—
“What?! You will make me wait for another presentation? And end up as trash? No need for that! You're all fired!” I said then walked out the door.
When will I find such promising writers? They keep ruining my day. And I hate those faces.
“What are my other schedules for today?” I asked my assistant— Irene.
“All your afternoon schedules were canceled because you have a lunch date with your parents today.” She said.
I massage the temples of my head.
“Okay, prepare the car. And please, I don't want anyone in the lobby.” I said as I signed all the papers on my table.
“Team Bravo, team Bravo, clear the lobby now, Ma'am Jennie is on the way. Code red.” I heard her say.
“Ma'am the lobby is already cleared, we can go now,” Irene said after a minute.
And so I prepared myself to leave. Wearing my Celine branded coat. It was a simple black coat, but it looked good on me.
And as I walk like a model in the hallway, I can't see anyone.
I smirked a bit.
This is what I want.
I don't want other people to nod, talk, and even stare at me as I walk.
I don't want to see them.
Their different faces that I hate.
I was diagnosed with state alexithymia.
It's a type of condition in which I don't feel anything, no—the right words are I'm struggling to feel that kind of feeling.
This all started after that painful past took place.
After I survived that accident, I just woke up one day struggling to feel anything.
The only feeling familiar to me is anger and fear.
Maybe because that's the kind of feeling that has never gone to me.
“We're here Ma'am.” I averted my gaze to Irene.
Even she, can't smile in front of me.
That's my rule.
If you want to keep your job, never smile in front of me.
Or even show me other emotions.
Just your damn poker face.
I get out of the car and proceed to our mansion.
The housemaid just bowed their head on me with their poker faces.
“Finally dear, you're here.” Mom embraced me.
“Imagine I have to make an appointment just to have a proper lunch date with my daughter?” Dad kissed my cheeks.
“I'm sorry Dad, you know my job. It's not easy.” I sighed.
I can't distinguish their emotions.
All I know is their eyes are sad.
I didn't feel it, I just learned it from my lesson with my psychologist.
“Well, let's eat?” Dad broke the silence.
“Oh dear Irene, please join us.” Mom offered Irene which she gladly accepted.
Irene is our adopted.
She's the only daughter of that man who saved me.
Yes, someone saved me that day and it was Irene's father.
And her father died instead of me.
Irene was young and so my parents adopted her as a sign of gratitude to her father's braveness.
Not thinking that I never wanted to be saved.
I wanted to die that day.
Why I'm still here thou?
“Is everything good in the office? I heard you fired a bunch of writers again?” Dad asked.
I was just eating without looking at him.
“They are useless Dad, they can't level on the salary given to them,” I answered coldly.
“C'mon dear have some mercy, they need to put food on their tables too,” Mom said softly.
“Then they better do their jobs right.” I rolled my eyes.
They both sighed.
“Can we just not talk about those useless people Mom, and Dad? I'm losing my appetite.” I said while eating.
“Okay, okay. As you wish.” Dad answered.
“Anyways, can we see you next week? Your sister will be home.” I froze for a while.
Here it goes.
The familiar feelings in me.
Anger.
And I finally lost my appetite.
“Your Mom and I think that it's the best way for you to meet now. Darling, it's about time to forget—
“I'm going now,” I said without waiting for them to answer.
Hell no.
Hell no I'm seeing her again. And hell no, I'm going to forget what she had done to me and our family.
That bitch.
That bitch, Jisoo Kim.
I'm not going to forgive her.
Never.
“Ma'am, where should I take you?” Irene asked me.
I saw the plaza we passed by without lots of people.
“Let's stop over there.” I pointed out the mango tree where no one was around.
“Maybe I need some fresh air,” I whispered.
“Yes Ma'am, team bravo be on stand—
“No need for that, Irene.” She then paused the call.
“I'm sorry, Ma'am.” She said.
When she parked the car, I quickly got out and went to sit in the mango tree.
I was just enjoying the fresh air when I heard something.
“Just give me your wallet and I will not hurt you.” It's from a man.
“P-Please, d-dont touch me.” And from a girl who sounds like... scared?
Scared? I guess.
I can't figure it out.
I took a peek at them.
I saw a man's back while he was hiding a knife that was pointing at the lady's waist.
His other arm is on the lady's shoulder.
The heck.
How can she do it in a lady?
And so I walked towards them.
I grabbed the man's hand holding a knife then bumped it in my knee.
And so he was able to let go of the knife.
He pushed the lady she'd been holding hostage earlier and so was about to punch me.
“You nosy brat!” He shouted but I was able to kick his ass.
And now he's holding tighter to his balls.
I was taken aback.
His face.
His face is giving me discomfort.
I touch my head when it suddenly aches.
Shit!
Damn.
I saw him trying to get his knife back.
And was ready to attack me but I couldn't move my body.
No! No!
I closed my eyes.
But minutes had passed, and I was still fine.
When I opened my eyes I saw her.
The lady earlier.
She was punching hard the face of this damn man.
Someone stops them.
Something is bothering me when our eyes met.
She's so beautiful.
Her eyes.
They're cold.
And it's not the same eyes as earlier.
She smirked.
“You're still the same.” She whispered.
My eyebrows raised.
“Still a coward and clumsy.” She added and walked towards me.
“Otoke, I want to date you, but I don't like what I'm wearing.” She said while looking at her dress.
What the heck is she saying?
She then got her phone and handed it to me.
“How about you give me your number, cat woman?” Fuck.
Is she fucking serious?
I know I'm beautiful and not straight, but the heck.
Does she think I'll fall in her alluring face?
Irene then grabs her hand.
“Stay away.” She said.
But this psycho pulled her hand.
“Let's go, Ma'am.” Irene then guided me.
“I'm going to see you soon.” I averted my gaze to her.
And fuck.
She winks at me.
