Chapter 12

Will's POV

"I wonder how, I wonder why,

Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue, blue sky

And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon tree"

It's been two weeks since we got kidnapped, one week since we got back to school. Mostly, everything is back to normal. The entire gang hasn't sat together since though. That means Colton is off with their own friend group, Gabe's actually sitting with the other seniors, Dana's been hanging out with Angela quite a bit lately so he sits with her and David and I basically together alone. He hasn't really made any friends and nobody's smothering him with questions about being kidnapped so I'm the only one he can sit with. Actually he could sit with Dana but he says he doesn't want to get in the way of the Dangela chemistry.

Nobody's smothering us with questions because they thought we were just absent the entire time for some stupid reasons. Well, except for our siblings, not-my-brother-Alex and Angela. But even they only know the gist of it.

Anyways, for choir since the teachers were informed mildly about the incident we got another week to practice. We'll be doing it next week. Right now we're doing solos so I just chose a song randomly and decided to sing it. David, Cole, Dana and Gabe already sang their solo songs. David chose the song I helped him write all on our own called Ex-Men, Cole sang Fancy by Iggy Azalea but added some funny stuff to it, Gabe chose to sing a Disney song which was A Whole New World from Aladdin and Dana sung Treasure by Bruno Mars. I was singing a song called Lemon Tree, I'm not too sure who it's by at the moment. I added some Chinese to it though, because I could.

We got to play an instrument if we could play one so I played my ukulele. I admit, music takes some of my stress away. That's why I love to do music a lot. I want to become a singer one day, or at least a songwriter. When I finished my song and everyone started to clap.

I can feel the heat rise to my cheeks but quickly go to sit down before anyone can see it. Dalton's next. He's singing an original, too. I think he told me once that it was called Stop.

~~~~~~~~~
Ok that was amazing. I'm officially going to see if I can collaborate with Dalton on a song sometime.
"Thank you everyone for participating in this Solo song assignment and I have to be honest, I'm actually doing this because of a festival coming up. We need four of you to compete against other schools and even though all of you did great I can only choose four of you." Wow, whoever gets in is really lucky I guess. "I've chosen them from how much seriousness they had, how much originality was in their song choice and by how into the song they were."
Well, seriousness would mean Cole wouldn't get in. He was pretty much just messing around even though the singing was great. Three people had sung Bruno Mars songs so I guess Dana wouldn't get in either. Gabe, as much as I hate to even think it, wasn't really into the song. He just kept glancing over at the clock but he was still really great.
"Ok, first up we have Dalton Rapattoni for sounding very into his music, for singing his own song he had written and took this assignment very seriously." She said
Of course it would be Dalton, he did amazing just now, plus he also really loves music. He has a different style than I do but he makes it sound like something I'd be into.
"Next we have Angela Preston for singing a not very popular song but she still made it sound great. She was very much into her music and seemed very serious with it."
Angela, I actually forgot what she sang. All I know is that I was thinking she had an amazing voice really. Should I feel guilty about that?
"Then we have David Scarzone for singing an original and sounding like you were actually talking to someone. You never played around with the song in an immature way either which is fantastic." She gave him a thumbs up.
I knew it! David got in! Yes! I wonder who'll get in next?
"Then, Will Behlendorf for singing a not very popular song and adding some of a different language in it along with looking like you were having a lot of fun and looked serious throughout it all." She smiled at me
Wait, Will Behlendorf?
THAT'S MY NAME!
I GOT IN!
"You can bring one friend with us on the trip when we go later in the year but that's the end of our class together. Get home safe everyone."
We all got up and Dana rounded us up into our little group, plus Angela and Alex.
"I'll take Alex." Angela volunteered.
"Great, I'll take Cole then." Dalton smiled widely and put Cole into a headlock.
"I'll take Gabe then." David announced.
"That leaves me with Dana then." Dana and I grab each other's hands and firmly shake like we're making a legit business deal.
"Good, now. Guys we have to talk about- uh- the thing sometime or another so we should head over to my place." Cole said, glancing at the girls, making a face at Gabe.
I held in a giggle as Gabe told the girls they had to talk alone. He had turned bright red while the two asked him why. They looked pretty pissed. Someone jabbed me in the stomach and I held the spot pain groaning.
"Don't laugh, he'll beat you up later if he sees that." Cole whispered but smiled after. "We can laugh at him when he's out of range."
Gabe came back and the girls walked away. He convinced them faster than I thought he would.
"Let's go." Gabe said and Cole got into his car and we followed.
Sometimes, I wish I could drive. Then, sometimes I'm grateful I can't so I don't have to stay up during long trips. So it doesn't bug me that much really.
Once we got there we went into Cole's house and he told us to stay there. Then he ran off, coming back a few seconds later out of breath.
"My parents, aren't here." He says in between breaths, then regains himself before speaking again. "Lets head to the game room."
We follow him downstairs and into a room painted black with neon spattered over the walls. A TV was on the farthest wall and you could see an Xbox and WiiU near it. A bunch of controllers were nearby and there were also a bunch of giant beanbag chairs. I could see video games and different board games stacked off to the side.
Lucky duck!
"Whoa." I say out loud.
"Are you serious Will? You have a working Pacman arcade thing in your room!" David shakes his head and rolls his eyes.
"True." I chuckle and I spot a 3DS in the corner of the room. "Hey, Cole. If you want you can borrow some of my DS games."
"Really? Thanks dude. But, let's get down to business." He says
"To defeat the huns." I sing. What? That song is catchy!
"Ok, Will. Stop." Dana says, he probably meant it in a playful way.
Yeah.
Well we it down in the beanbag chairs and Cole starts to talk.
"So, any mishaps with the you-know-whats?" He said
I shake my head and so do Gabe, Dana and Dalton.
"I accidentally maybe might've gotten stuck to the walls once and had to hide away from sight a couple of times." David said.
"Ok, well I almost impaled my mom so, I think we have to get control of them." Cole says.
"What? No!" Gabe protests.
Honestly, I really don't see the problem with taking them under control. I'm all for it actually. It sounds like a good idea.
"And why the hell not?" Dalton asks Gabe
"Heck." Cole corrects
"And why the heck not?" Dalton repeats with the correction, not without rolling his eyes though.
I hold in a laugh because I really don't want to like, anger Mr. Muscleman right now. You won't like him when he's angry. Ha! I'm so funny, wait, am I? Well, I think I'm funny so, yeah, I guess I am. Maybe?
"Because I want to forget about it ok? We had bad experiences there. I don't want to live through that again." Gabe said, voice breaking slightly. Ouch.
"Bad experiences are what make you a stronger person. Bad experiences make you who you are. If you give up then you're weak, if you try to fight against them you're going to be damaged and broken at the end, if you keep moving on and live with it then you my friend, are a survivor." David said, inspirationally. I opened my mouth to start breaking into song but he stopped me. "Will, don't you dare."
Darn it, he knows me too well.
"He's right, you know. We've been trying to forget this entire time. We have to live through this." Dana inputed, pounding his fist to his other hand. "And I know just the place."
"Where?" We all asked.
"Easy, my godfather's house. He's practically a billionaire. Currently he's on a trip and technically I'm allowed at his mansion whenever. His house is pretty isolated too so we can do this privately." Dana smiled.
A mansion? That'd be freaking amazing! But what about the help?
"He doesn't have any help around his mansion, he's not spoiled and if he wants to hire a maid they'd be on vacation right now." Dana said, did he just read my mind? Dana must've caught my confused look because he explained. "You zoned out a bit Will, Cole was the one who asked."
Oh. Great minds think alike then.
Dana leaves the game room to probably call his godfather. In the meantime, Cole, David and I started playing some video games while Gabe and Dalton watched. Well, Gabe watched. I'm pretty sure Dalton was just staring at Cole the entire time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was Saturday morning and we were standing in front of a ginormous house. It was huge! It was at least three stories high and was so wide. We followed Dana who had a key to the mansion and we followed him into this giant room.

"Welcome to what my godfather likes to call, 'the unnecessary ballroom that I don't need whatsoever but it came with the house so whatever'. Basically, I can run around in here whenever. Parties can happen in here too but I know what to use it for." Dana grins.

We're all still gawking at the enormous room. I'm running out of synonyms for big. It had a stage with giant red curtains on either side, the floor was clear and looked newly waxed. It was empty. A closet door was on one of the walls through. Maybe some tables and chairs are in there?

"Well, are you gonna ask what it is?" Dana asked us impatiently.

"What?" Cole asked, raising an eyebrow.

"What we can use it for!" Dana sounded exasperated.

"Oh, is it for practicing our powers?" Dalton guessed.

"I was supposed to say that!" Dana pouted.

Be more specific Dana! We're kind of clueless here!

Anyways, if we were gonna start on that practice then we're gonna need to start.
