Sci-Fi Winners
Hello Everyone! Sorry it has taken me so long to get to this point. There has been a lot going on in my world. Down below we have the winners for the Sci-Fi category.
There was one participant who did not complete payment for commenting and voting on the first two chapters of my book Destined Twist of Fate. However, they did complete one payment by adding my book to their reading list. So they did not place in the awards. I’ll be giving scores but not a review for that book.
Another book was removed by the author. Therefore, I was unable to read and judge their book.
AprilJester author of ‘The Morning Song,’ has requested that I give their review personally. So I will just be putting their scores without the review here.
P-S- I didn’t have time to edit. Or I never would have gotten these scores out to you all. So please bear with me. My reviews are choppy.
Now on to our winners. Remember to contact me for your winning stickers:

Our first place winner is!
BLOODLINE
By: WendyyWolfe
Overall Score 97
Title/Book Cover: 1-10 Score 8
I’m always in awe of your book covers Wendy. I wish I could be that creative and outstanding with mine hahaha! The background imagery is perfect; corresponding with both the overall plot of the book and the blurb. Seems how it is a zombie apocalyptic type story. It's awesome to see the heart monitor ratings in the background. The font is bold and fitting of the Sci-Fi/Paranormal genre. So you have a perfect score for the book cover. However, I am having to take off points for the title of the book. As there are over a thousand titles on Wattpad, that are either the same or very close to having the same title. I recommend trying to think outside the box. Like you did with your book ‘Mermaid Scavengers.’ Especially since there is a Native American twist to the plot.
Blurb: 1-10 Score 10
The blurb for BLOODLINES is compelling and has a hook factor that is all consuming. For me, the fact that there is a Native American twist to the plot had me wanting to dive right into my reading. There is just the right amount of information to intrigue readers and have them wanting more. The grammar and punctuation is superb and the blurb fits perfectly in line with the overall plot of the book.
Plot/Creativity/Originality: 1-10 Score 10
To be honest, I’ve only read maybe a handful of zombie apocalypse books here on Wattpad. And usually they are all about the same. But I was blown away by the many plot twists that are within the first several chapters. To say I’m hooked would be an understatement. I can’t wait to read more when I have the time. ‘Bloodlines’ is by far one of the most creative and original zombie apocalypse stories I’ve read so far. The plot unfolds perfectly from the very beginning and flows perfectly.
Fits the Sci-Fi Genre: 1-10 Score 10
Fits the Sci-Fi genre perfectly.
Character Development: 1-10 Score 10
There are many characters that come into play throughout the first seven chapters. But I must say that I’m extremely happy with how Deag turned out. I couldn’t say the same for his wife though. She makes me want to punch something. It’s somewhat hard for me to say much else about any of the other characters without leaving spoilers. But even Nate’s character development was wonderful and I can’t wait to see what happens with him next. I’ve only just been introduced to the character Len, but I am loving how he pretty much gets up and starts taking charge of the situation at hand.
Story Flow: 1-10 Score 10
The stories flow is smooth, neither fast paced or slow. I honestly had a hard time putting it down, I was so hooked.
Grammar: 1-10 score 9
The grammar was almost perfect, with only a couple of issues that stood out to me.
Writing Style: 1-10 Score 10
Third person narratives aren’t my favorite to read. But this book was written so well that it kept me thoroughly engaged and intrigued. The descriptive text of surroundings, actions, emotions and dialogue are assounding. It’s sometimes hard for authors to pull this off, but there wasn’t an issue with this book. The text is also written in a manner that is easy for all readers to understand; even if english isn’t their first language.
Overall Engagement: 1-10 Score 10
To be honest, I’m not normally into reading Zombie Apocalyp’s type stories; because they all seem about the same. But I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘BLOODLINES.’ I’m grateful to the author for thinking outside the box and bringing a whole new twist to this trope. I got so into my reading, that if I hadn’t noticed the time, I probably would have kept reading. This book is highly intriguing and held me captive. At the end of each chapter, I was quick to get to the next to see what would happen. ‘BLOODLINES’ is a must read for all of those readers out there who are hooked on Zombies. My husband would probably love it for sure. That man watches even the lowest of low budget Zombie movies and shows.

Day’s End
Written by: JaneQuill28
Overall Score: 81
Title/Book Cover: 1-10 Score 7
I feel like the author did their best to portray a book cover that shows how the never ending daylight eventually comes to darkness. However, the imagery is pixelated poorly. It would help a great deal if the imagery could be brought into focus, so it can be seen more clearly and be more vivid. At the top where I believe the author is showing the darkness coming upon the earth, could be spruced up a bit as well. The author could possibly try finding an image on Pexal to show the Anela star cluster that brings on the nightshade. They are free and are for use by all. I know many authors here who use Pexal photos. Maybe find a few photo’s crop them and then use Canva to create the book cover. I would also try using a different font if possible, to bring out the overall tension of what happens within the plot. The title however is one of a kind and corresponds perfectly with the blurb and overall plot of the story.
Blurb: 1-10 Score 10
The blurb for ‘Day’s End’ is compelling and has a wonderful hook factor. I’m a Sci-Fi nerd and love books that have anything to do with the upper universe. I was immediately drawn in and wanted to dive right into my reading. There is the right amount of information to reel readers in and the grammar is also perfect.
Plot/Creativity/Originality: 1-10 Score 10
The overall plot and creativity was amazing. I’ve never read a book like ‘Day’s End’ before. It was crazy to see how these people managed without having nightfall and always being cloaked in daylight. They don’t even know what it’s like to see stars. But somehow they manage. The plot unravels right from the start and keeps readers thoroughly engaged.
Fits the Sci-Fi Genre: 1-10 Score 10
Fits the Sci-Fi Genre perfectly.
Character Development: 1-10 Score 10
I really enjoyed how the main character Joss takes what he was unfairly given in life and lives every moment to the fullest. He deserved to get a first class degree, but was unfairly treated. But he didn’t let that get him down. Becoming a manager and eventually getting married and having a baby. Which is not something most second-class-degree personnel are offered.
Story Flow: 1-10 Score 9
The story’s flow was somewhat slow at times, but not really. For the most part the flow was almost perfect.
Grammar: 1-10 Score 9
There were no major issues as far as grammar and punctuation were concerned. I addressed any issues that I saw.
Writing Style: 1-10 Score 8
For the most part the author's writing style for ‘Day’s End’ was wonderful. I would however like to see more descriptive text, explaining surroundings, emotions and actions more fully. It would be nice to be able to preserve a more vivid picture in my mind of what’s going on.
Overall Engagement: 1-20 Score 18
For the most part, I really enjoyed my reading. I think if the author were to go through the chapters and apply more descriptive text throughout, the story would be all that more enjoyable. But I absolutely loved the creative aspects and twist of the story. How neverending daylight eventually turns into absolute darkness. I thoroughly enjoyed my reading and was so happy to see Joss being blessed with so many amazing things, that he never thought he would ever be able to have. ‘Day’s End’ was a wonderful read and I recommend this book to all.
