Chapter 1: Return

This is the sequel to My Roommate Of Silver and Green

"Where were you?" I ask Draco the moment I wake up. The sun is shining through the windows, making the room light up in a calm, warming glow. Draco is sprawled across the bed, head down into his pillow and his arm dangling and touching the floor. As I lean over to get a closer look I notice it kind of looks like he's holding something. I lip toe lightly yet quickly around the bed and look. He's definitely holding something. I reach out and let my fingers lightly brush against his hand. He jumps what feels like half a mile, his face coming into view from under the pillow. As he looks at me I watch his eyes strain to focus on my face. His entire body, once rigid when I frightened him, relax into a peaceful calm of sleepiness.

"What do you mean Mione?" He mumbles back, still half asleep. He tries to cover his face with the pillow but I grab it and chuck it across the room. He then goes for the blankets but I tear them from the bed with an agonizing tearing sound. "Mione," he grumbles sleepily, "don't do that." I smirk one of my best Malfoy smirks. He reaches out a hand and attempts to mold my smirk into a smile. I give in for a second and he gives me a sleepy smile in return.

"Last night," I continue suddenly," You and that apple keep disappearing and leaving me to deal with the kids." For a while now I'll wake up in the middle of the night to the cries of my children only to realize Draco and that wretched apple have disappeared. Again.

Draco sits up suddenly and hastily at my accusation. He starts playing with his fingers nervously. I reach out and grab one of his hands to see if they are sweaty. He tends to get very sweaty hands when he's lying. Sure enough his hands are practically soaked. I let my face fall into a smirk again but quickly decide to change the smirk to a kind and gentle smile. I know exactly how to get what I want now.

"What are you talking about, Mione?" He asks, playfully, now more awake and stretching out. "We've been here the whole night, we always have been. You're just having bad dreams because—"

"I am not just having bad dreams! You do keep disappearing and I refuse to rest until I find out what it is you're doing at night!" My breathing is heavy and fast. Draco can be so frustrating. I know that he wasn't in his bed last night, but I cannot yet prove it. "Besides, is you leaving really a nightmare or a dream come true?" The moment the words fall out of my mouth I regret them. Draco's face falls a little and his smile turns into a frown.

"You don't really mean that...do you?" He asks cautiously, watching my face closely.

"Honestly I'm not sure Draco." I respond. He looks at me with such disappointment. "I'm joking. Joking. Couldn't do a thing without you, Draco."

"Is that sarcasm I'm sensing?" He asks skeptically. I roll my eyes and choose not to answer.

"Where are you going, Draco? Thats all I need to know so that everything can be right between us. I watch his face carefully and suddenly a thought hits me. "Who's we?" I ask.

"What do you mean?" He asks, completely confused.

"We you said. We. We've been here the whole night, we always have been. Who's we Draco Lucius Malfoy? I demand. Being a mother has given me a strong sense of power and it's quite fun to use.

"I didn't mean we," he says quickly.

"Uh huh," I say slowly, completely not letting him get away with lying. "Draco, why must you lie to me?" I ask, disappointment filling my eyes.

"I'm sorry, Mione. I'm sorry. I won't leave anymore in the middle of the night."

I don't call me that. It's not my name and I don't much like it." He looks me straight in my eyes and apologizes. "I don't want to argue with you, Draco, but you can't just leave me with children to look after."

"I'm sorry." He hangs his head. "Oh! Wait!" He reaches under the bed and pulls out a bag. "Today is a big day for us. Meet me downstairs within the half hour," and without another word and without meeting my eyes he races out of the room slamming the door behind him. At the sound of the door slamming a cry rises from across the room. A baby's cry. I walk over to the crib slowly, reach in, and pull Estella- Rose close.

"Shhhh. Shhhhh baby. It's alright baby. Mommy's here. And mommy always will be."
