Identity
Hoodisee climbed up the stairs to go to the nursery on the second floor while thinking.
"Should I go as 'Hoodisee' or as 'Hoodisee's girlfriend'? Let's just stay like that. My 'girlfriend' is still in the infirmary... However, I do need a name for 'her'... and baby bee too. I can't really call him like that forever, can I? He needs a proper name, but I don't feel like I'm worthy of giving him a name. Who knows, maybe his parents were obligated to leave him there. Maybe they're looking for him. I don't deserve to give him his name. What if he already has one? What a dilemma... I think I should give him a name, at least for now, and if I found his parents one day, they could change it if they want. I think that's what I should do. It feels right that way."
She entered the room looking for her little baby bee. He was in the arms of a young lady with brown hair and a nurse uniform. Hoodisee realized right away who that person was.
"Oh, well... What can I say?"
She walked towards them.
— I see you've been taking good care of little baby bee.
— I did my best sire!
That woman had a wonderful smile. Everything she did confirmed to Hoodisee who was in front of her. On her uniform was a name tag with 'Rya' on it. The hooded one took the baby in her arms.
— Ao'ry, was it? Thanks for taking care of him.
— Wha... What are you talking about?
Her smile became tense and she looked more nervous.
— You know what I mean. I don't need to spell it out, right?
Her smile completely faded giving place to a surprised expression.
— You... How... You really knew?
— I knew when I walked in.
— How?
— First, I realized you often use unnoticeable forms. Except when you use your predilection appearance, the boy with red hair. An old man with a brown blanket when we met, an averaged looking girl with brown hair this time and a brown chair during my fight. I believe you think brown in an unnoticeable color, which is the case most of the time.
— You knew about the chair too?
— It's hard not to notice a chair appearing from nowhere.
"Kariator and Theora didn't notice... and you were fighting when I came in the room. How could you be fighting and still notice a small detail like that? How strong are you? And how much were you suppressing your strength to not fight back? Was the fight a joke for you?"
— You went in about 12 minutes after the fight started.
"You even knew when I came in?!"
— But, the chair could have been any other shapeshifter...
— You were the only one with a reason to be there at that precise moment.
— And what might that be?
— You might want me to say 'because you knew about the possibly interesting outcome and you wanted to spy on us out of curiosity', but the truth is quite different. The real reason is because you were worried. You knew Kariator was a strong opponent and would be harsh on me. Not only that, you also felt somehow redevant to me for accepting you as you are no matter the fact you were a metamorph. Judging you by your actions and your words and not by the one thing you have no power over it.
"She's fearsome... And her mind is even sharper than Mazkina's."
— The reason you're here now is to pay a bit of that 'not really existing debt' and to answer to my request to take good care of the baby.
"What an impressive girl!"
— You might want to hide your keen sense of deduction in front of others.
— I know. I never revealed it to anyone else than you and that other woman.
— Other woman?
— Yes, the one who gave me the card/entry ticket.
— Mazkina?!
— I guess that's her name.
— How did you know you could trust us with that?
— For Mazkina, it was more of a gamble. Just a guess. I didn't show her that much either. I now realize it was a good one with all the new information I got afterward.
— And for me?
— For you, it was easy. In the first place, you felt somewhat close to me. Then, you told nothing about me to anyone... else than maybe Mazkina.
— How do you know?
— The rumors. If you had said something to someone, they would have been more accurate. Kariator and the woman with magenta hair had reasons to keep silent. For Kariator it was his pride and for the woman it was the rules. However, you didn't have any reasons that could explain why you wouldn't say anything. So either you're loyal or don't trust many people. I would say it's both since Mazkina trusted you with her secrets.
— How do you know she trusts me with her secrets?
— No one else knew who gave me the pass and password.
— That's how you know you can trust me?
— Part of the reason, yes. I believe you're trustworthy to the ones who trust you and who believe you're someone good.
— Do you think I'm someone good?
— I only see things pointing towards that fact. Though, you might want to spy less on people. They tend to dislike when others go where they're not supposed to or when they see things they shouldn't.
— Does it make me a bad person?
— If it does, then I'm a bad person too.
— I don't think you're a bad person.
— Neither do I of you.
The respect Ao'ry felt toward Hoodisee kept growing and he even started admiring her. The hooded one, with baby bee in her arms, started heading to the exit, then turned towards Ao'ry.
— I'm going to our room, want to come with us?
— Yes! Let's chat a bit more on our way there.
They exited the nursery together. Hoodisee started talking first.
— Are you going to keep this appearance?
— Does it bother you?
— Not really, but I thought I could use this opportunity as a way to assure my second identity.
— Second Identity?
— People started saying the girl who was in the infirmary was in fact my girlfriend...
— So you want me to take the appearance of that so-called girlfriend of yours.
— That way, I could make sure that baby bee stay safe.
— It's true that he might be in danger if you become a well known shadow knight and people link him to you. Okay! I'll do it.
After making sure no one was looking, Ao'ry changed his appearance to fit Hoodisee's true face.
— Do remember you just got out of the infirmary.
— Oh, right.
Bandages appeared around his (now her) head and arms.
— Do you have any requests for the clothes I should wear?
— Not something black and not some sort of uniform. Something far from the things I usually wear.
Ao'ry's nurse uniform changed into a long white dress with flowers of all sorts of light colors.
— Is it ok this way?
— Yeah, it's perfect.
— Have you prepared a backstory for this second identity of yours?
— Yes, though, I don't know what name I'll take.
— Thinking of it, what is your name?
— I have no idea. I just know people call me Hoodisee, so that's the name I usually use.
— Why don't you know your name?
— I have no memories prior than five years ago. I don't know my past, nor my age, nor my name. Everything I know about myself comes from a letter I wrote and some signs I've been following the past few years.
— A letter you wrote?
— I'm gonna tell you more about it later. I believe Mazkina would want to hear everything about that too. She's probably heading to my room now or maybe she's already there...
— How do you know? Ah... Nevermind, it's better that I don't know.
— ... If you think so...
— Do you have any idea on which name you'll want to use?
— No. In the past five years, I tried to find a name for myself, but I like none of the one I found. Do you perhaps have an idea for me?
— How about... Tania? It could suit you.
— Hmmm... I don't know. Thinking of it, I don't even know what name I'll give to baby bee.
— Why not Arthur?
— You really like names originally coming from noble humans...
— Not really... You just both seem so noble and I feel like those names might suit you.
— I was thinking something a bit less common too... Something closer from spirits than humans names.
— Since you call him baby bee, why not Obeeneon for him?
— ... I like it! I like it so much. I feel like it's the name he should have had from the start.
— I'm glad you like it. Now... For your name... Mmm... A... B... C... It's harder for you... Do you have something else you would want in your name?
— Hmm... I don't know... Maybe something that sounds soft and kind, but also with a part of mystery and a blurry past. You know what I mean?
— Not at all... Any letter you would like your name to start with?
— ... M... or A... or... I don't know.
— How about Amael?
— Looks like an angel's name...
— Yes, well angels are spirits. They are soft and kind, but also have mystery surrounding them.
— I don't think that name suits me that well...
— Ok... It's your name after all... How about... Armana?
— It's closer to what I want, but we're not quite there yet.
— I like the name Malaraan, would it suit you?
— Still a good name, just, I don't think it should be mine. I think my name should be a name only meant for me that someone created it with only me in mind.
— You're asking for too much.
— Yeah, I guess you're right... I should keep looking by myself.
— Just remember you should have it by the time you go out with your true face again.
— Yeah, I know.
— I'll work on it too. We might come up with a name faster if the two of us are looking for it.
While they were still talking, they were slowly heading towards the building where everyone's rooms were in.
